It's Simple (a different perspective series, #1)
african american women fiction

The general consensus is that relationships are easy to start but challenging to maintain. Although we may not think so, our choices ultimately determine the types of relationships we have. It's truly funny how after we've contributed to the chaotic state of the relationship, we hire therapists to fix us, to tell us it's not our fault when it typically is. The truth? Therapists don't fix us; they provide tools that guide us. Relationships can be complicated, littered with challenges and that preventable thing called drama. Just ask Tia and Chase.

They met as teenagers. Upon graduation from college, things got complicated. Chase was drafted to the Lakers; Tia was offered a position in the Obama administration. Despite the geographical distance, Tia and Chase stayed together.

But how easy is it to make love last?

Here's a unique look at a progressive couple and how their choices impact their journey; providing a truthful and sometimes painful look at real life scenarios and how two fiercely driven and stubborn lovers choose to handle them.

michelle richardson is the author of a different perspective series. It's Simple and Never Said It Was Easy are the first two novels in the series.

writing is passion expressed through imagery of symbols, imprinting content on mind and soul. from conscious flow to tangible manifestations, spirits blossom. life can never be labeled "easy." at times we are broken, battered, unsure, torn . . . but that is not who we are. the journey, if you choose to view it as such, can be transformative. a journey where every occurrence has the power to enrich or destroy, and does. peeling back the layers, i know i am not defined by things i've done, education i've received, nor positions i've held. for the most part, the experiences are invaluable, yet mixed with distractions and misinformation filled with malicious intent. truth is the liberator. i know i can only be defined as what i am: vessel . . . conduit . . . creator.

Money Solves a Multitude of Problems

Michelle Richardson’s “It’s Simple” tells the story of Tia and Chase. Friends since high school, the two give their relationship a break while pursuing college degrees. With college out of the way, the two decide to give love a try. Easier said than done as Chase is drafted to the L.A. Lakers and Tia is across the country working within Obama’s administration. With the pressure of day-to-day living and maintaining a bicoastal relationship, do Chase and Tia have what it takes to last?

The writing in “It’s Simple” shows that Michelle Richardson is indeed a writer. I appreciated the representation of strong black families. Though the writing was strong and good, my only gripe with the story is that in writing about a character of such wealth or in an attempt to elevate above poverty, things at times were unrealistic and TV-like. Also, the problems or drama was very light. I would have liked for there to have been deeper or more serious issues to address.

Overall, “It’s Simple” is an entertaining read and Michelle Richardson is an author I look forward to reading more from.

This was a terrific book! I was surprised by how much I got to know and enjoy the characters. Tia and Chase were high school sweethearts, they separate during college then decide to reunite again. However, it is not always easy to pick up where you left off. Chase goes with the L.A. Lakers and Tia is on the opposite side of the country working under Obama. It would be easy for the relationship to falter. The story takes off from here.

The characters made the book a very enjoyable read. Tia was very goal-oriented and accomplished, Chase was tough and handsome. They complemented each other very well in the book. The secondary characters round out the story.

The events are fairly fast-paced and the ending was sublime-can't imagine it ending any other way. This book was certainly entertaining, though some of the issues seemed a little exaggerated at times. This book is recommended to adult readers.

Tia and Chase were high school sweethearts. Although they parted ways during the college years, they never stopped loving eachother. Young love eventually blossomed into something grown and sexy. They weathered storms and championed hurdles to make their relationship work. Despite the challenges of time restraints and distance, they were able to create a life for themselves. With the help and support of family and friends, Tia and Chase are proof that "where there is a will, there is a way."

I really enjoyed It's Simple. Filled with lessons that can be applied to every day life, I enjoyed every single page. Michelle Richardson did a phenomenal job!

This is a fantastic book! It makes me believe real love and good relationships can happen. And not only relationships between a man and a woman but between friends, parents, co-workers etc. I encourage everyone to read this book!

A Patient Love

I loved this story. I liked that no matter what Tia and Chase faced they did so together. I especially enjoyed that there was no over the top drama or situations that distracted from the story or their love.
