Edge of Conquest

Rate this book
War comes to consume the Edge...
And only a disgraced, former soldier can stop it.

When the rebellion comes knocking down at Joseph Clarke's door, he's swept back into a world of violence and death he swore was behind him.

To survive, Clarke must rely on training and skills he thought he'd never use again.

To free the Edge of the grip of the Tal-Kader Conglomerate, Clarke must team up with a genetically enhanced assassin to rescue a woman forgotten by history.

But can he save his people when the enemy is an entire fleet?

History follows on Clarke's path, and with it, the Edge will see only two fates - Empire, or Conquest.

Hugo Huesca is a science fiction and fantasy writer. He has been reading avidly for the better part of two decades and writing fiction since he was ten. He is a swimmer, a tequila drinker and a fanatic of ridiculous science fiction book covers from fifty years ago.

Some quotes on Hugo Huesca from those who know him:

"Are you rich yet?" A family member, one day after Hugo self-published his first short story ever. (The answer is no.)

"He's the devil." A College professor.

"What do you mean there were TWO dragons?" His D&D group before a TPK.

"What are you doing in my house? No, I'm not giving you a quote for your biography, please leave before I call the police." Some random person.

I've read everything the author has

Rune trilogy paved the way for this next universe. In this series, the author appears willing to kill off characters no matter how popular. I consider that willingness a step above the "everyone makes it" plot lines other writers follow.

Character growth is good
Plot is believable.
Philosophical and moral conundrums are well laid out and easy to appreciate as characters fail our succeed through them, and appropriate for the character at the time.
And it's a fun read.
This book is not in the self help section, that last statement is the most important

I've "followed" the author on Amazon and left a review hoping it helps the author produce the next adventure, whichever adventure that may be. I'll be reading it regardless.

Tried To Read But Gave Up At 36%

“Edge of Conquest (The Restoration Armada Book 1),” authored by Mr. Hugo Huesca, proved too slow and thick for this reader, and ultimately bailed at 36% and DNF.

The story (see synopsis at point of sale) might appeal to other readers, willing to labor with the book. For this reader, whether it was the author writing in an acquired language (Spanish to English) and/or a heavy handed translation, there was no narrative flow, making reading a chore.

“Edge of Conquest,” is not recommended and was accessed via Kindle Unlimited.

Loved the journey

The author starts slow but he is building a new world on the edge of space that I felt a part of at the end. All the parts of a great space opera are there and the finale rewards with some exhilarating action. By then I was really invested in the characters and could not put the book down until the last page. Hope more people get the chance to read and enjoy.

Ok now, this is a quite good read to begin with. The story goes well around some individual and start to evolve outward following the plot. I love read this novel ... Try to done it as long as i can, but fails in the long run. 😅
