Great as ever

I've read a few different vampire series as reviews have said if like asov then you will love this or that they better than asov but i have to say I have yet to find a series better than this no matter what book I behalf way through it gets put aside so can read latest asov or any new Bella forrest book for that matter. The story is gripping that i can't put it down.

Bella Forrest has done it again! This book was so edge-of-your-seat! It showed a deeper complexity in the characters, young and old. It was great revisiting old faces and getting to know newer ones in great depth. The challanges brought to all are mind blowing and keep you completely riveted. Also, the visuals were so decadent!!! I can't wait to find out what happens next!

I love of these books but it drives me a little crazy when one of them sense something isn't right but they don't investigate the situation. Learn from the past.

Much like the last book this one had a slow build at the start. Lots or back and forth on the same subjects I.e Harper talking about Caspians shadiness, the interviews of the imen and how they are going to tackled the problem.

I’m more accustomed to the shade books where when something threatens them they act quickly and effectively. This is what happens in the latter part of the book once the team divide and conquer each part of the island in order to position a protection spell made by Patrick around the area next to be hit on by daemons.....or soul eaters as they seek to now be called.

The best part of the book was the quick and edgy chapters detailing the loss of Fiona, who got cut off from hansa. Trapped in a tunnel she followed it to its end only to have stumbled upon the illusive prison. Caia and blaze wind up finding her only to watch her be taken away by a soul eater. Great intensity.

I also enjoyed some classic harper strength when ease dropping on caspian and Amalia. A quote that stood out to me was ‘ I pulled my twin swords out with a metallic screech that startled Amalia’.

Furthermore a better look into jax’s past failed relationships, all of which ended in tragedy gives us the much needed knowledge of his back and forth with Hansa.

Other than the overall pace of the book the other aspects that bothered me were:

-how much detail was given to everyone’s outfits for the ball. An event which lasted less time than the build up. It is also quite irritating now hearing how exceptionally beautiful each character is. I’d like some range in this, such as exploring inner beauty and the eye of the beholder more.

-the predictability of caspain being the masked hero

-the general repetitiveness of the characters coming to the conclusion that something is very wrong in Neraka. That is usually why gasp are called.

I’m also indifferent in regard to the scarlet and Patrick storyline. The element of grief and starting again makes for an interesting read but the back and forth in conversations I.e Patrick making up his mind if he can love again, layered on top of hansa and jax’s issues is too similar in one book.

Overall, I’m glad I kept going with this book. It may have been a little tedious at the beginning but the building suspense at the end makes me want to continue the saga. I’m expecting much stronger things in the next instalment.

Just keeps getting better...

The Shade series gets better with every book...Neraka is a mysterious place and I can't wait for the GASP team to uncover the the truth behind the disappearing Iman and Mars people. The sexual tension is great...Jax needs to get over his fear of letting himself love Hansa, Caia might have to wait 3 years to see if Blaze is the one, Scarlett might have to wait 100 years for Patrick to change his mind about falling in love again, Harper and Caspian need to kiss already and I still don't know if I like the Fiona and Vincent thing, maybe she will find someone else to set her sights on...if she survives the daemons that is...

A masked hero, a daemon and a murdered Imen

As the investigation continues the plot thickens and there are way more questions than answers. Because of this the team also decides to look into the town itself and its people.
The reason behind Jax's cold behavior toward Hansa is revealed and it all makes sense which is great to finally find out because i was getting so frustrated with him.

Really enjoying this

Usually when reading a series you get so wrapped up in your characters, but when they change you already don’t like it.

This series is not like that, not at all, not by a long shot! With every lineage, with every child born, with every generation, it just keeps getting better. GASP is evolving, by their generation and the places they go. Each adventure is new, exciting, crazy, and definitely unpredictable.

Great story as always ..sometimes I have trouble remembering who is who and glad that each chapter tells that...the story line flies great with previous book...the daemons are after gasp I like blaze innocents of how girls are and his,strength is amazing. O do believe he is my favorite character at this time...
