Middle grade readers interested in monsters may find this book entertaining. The protagonist is an eleven-year-old named Jason who is convinced that his sister Bianca is a werewolf. He is frustrated that no one else will believe him - friends, teachers, the principal, even his mother. Jason's mom points out that being up at odd hours and acting grumpy all the time are just signs of being a teenager, not a supernatural monster. Jason isn't ready to give up on his theory, though, so he begins collecting evidence to prove his case. DNA testing, plaster casts of foot prints, and a plan to capture the creature are all attempted.

As the author mentioned in her request for beta readers, "It is my intent for it to be a moderately fast paced adventure with some humor and a little bit of tension/scariness." She seems to have met her goals. The story happens over the span of a few days. There are humorous scenes such as Jason raiding his mother's silverware for weapons to use against the werewolf, and scary scenes like being trapped in the basement with a creature trying to break in through the window.

A good choice for those who like the level of spookiness found in Goosebumps or similar series (and also about the same length). I felt the ending was predictable, but it may not be as obvious to young readers. I also wished for more character development at least for Jason's mother and sister; the mother especially seemed like a typical single parent trying to cope.

I received an advance reader copy from the author for review purposes.
