Grace Hamilton is the prepper pen-name for a bad-ass, survivalist momma-bear of four kids, and wife to a wonderful husband. After being stuck in a mountain cabin for six days following a flash flood, she decided she never wanted to feel so powerless or have to send her kids to bed hungry again. Now she lives the prepper lifestyle and knows that if SHTF or TEOTWAWKI happens, she’ll be ready to help protect and provide for her family.

Combine this survivalist mentality with a vivid imagination (as well as a slightly unhealthy day dreaming habit) and you get a prepper fiction author. Grace spends her days thinking about the worst possible survival situations that a person could be thrown into, then throwing her characters into these nightmares while trying to figure out "What SHOULD you do in this situation?"

It’s her wish that through her characters, you will get to experience what life will be like and essentially learn from their mistakes and experiences.

THE MERRY BAND OF MISFITS TAKE THE BATTLE TO THE AGGRESSORS TO TAKE BACK WHAT WAS TAKEN

Dark Revival: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Saga Filled With Fascinating Characters & Prepper Info (EMP Lodge Series Book 6) by Grace Hamilton is a well written tell of the hardships that a small group of people, mainly family and friends, as they deal with the aftermath of a Solar Flare that has taken down the power grid of the U.S. sending the government into decay, civilization into a pre-industrial state with most fighting to stay alive even if it means doing so by by what ever means are necessary.

The heroes of this story, the Morris family band together with friends in a lodge in the mountains outside of Spokane, Washington. They deal with loss of family and friends and traitors who have taken up with Russians to keep the U.S. in the dark and no longer a major leader in the world, gangs of thugs out to destroy, steal, and murder those who are unable to defend themselves.

The characters are well defined and you will find yourself routing for Wyatt, Megan, Rosie, Willow, Chase, Albert, Brenda and all the rest of Wyatt's band of misfits as they take on the worst of what mankind has to offer each other.

Taking back what was taken from them by force and getting revenge for the betrayal, loss of supplies, and loss of family and friends by nothing else than a group of domestic terrorists out to take and destroy everything for their own gain, the Morris group suffers great losses and only by determination, sacrifice, and coming together do they survive the day all while helping the U.S. government.

If you're looking for insights into the geography of Washington State, this will not be the case. The author has taken liberties when it comes to the cities, towns, and directions and distance, so don't looking for the area this story takes place, most of it doesn't exist. Not that that makes the story any less than what it is, just an observation on my part.

That being said, I still enjoyed reading this book and series and plan to read additional books by Grace Hamilton. I hope you will find yourself enjoying this book and series as much as I did.

Dark Revival. Grace Hamilton

The final chapter in this excellent series. After the solar flare occurred people, unfortunately many Americans worked with Russia to keep America in the dark, helpless. Was the gain power, monetary... people's motivation is as old as time. Good friends and family were lost but never forgotten. Normalcy, food, shelter things we take for granted but can be quickly lost are now cherished by the survivors. An excellent six book series!! My highest recommendation!! Enjoyed immensely!!!

Great series

I’ve read all six books of this series. Adventure after adventure, constant struggle for survival, and some good tips for your apocalypse notebook thrown in.

Bad guys after bad guys keep interrupting the lives of ths makeshift family. Unfortunately, some of the favorite characters are sacrificed along the way. Always sad when that happens.

There were a few hiccups in this self published series, but not serious enough to stop me from reading.

8m looking forward to the next series.

Ending a little abrupt and so many died

It made it really hard to finish reading the book. The main characters were real and it hurt when so many of them died by the end of this book. I almost didn’t finish reading it. The ending was a little abrupt too. It’s a good series to read and I loved the first 4 books but the last 2 were hard to get through. Some of the storylines were far-fetched and didn’t seem plausible. Going from TEOTWAWKI to normalcy so quickly was also a little unbelievable but this is fiction and this scenario has never happened in real life so we can only guess how things will turn out. I did enjoy reading from a woman’s perspective and getting to know these characters in such depth. That’s what makes it so hard to say goodbye to them.

Last book! Picks up right where the other left off. Megan, Wyatt, Willow, JJ and ? are making their way back to the lodge. I think it was Evan who died at the hands of Wyatt in the last book and Bryan is making his way home with them. Turns out Neil has taken over. The lodge group just managed to escape except that Rosie and Caitlin were in the root cellar at the time and didn't make it out. Tara and Amy were at the stream but part way through the book they make their way back to the group. The group all meets up at their bug out place which had twin boys making a home there. Aidan and Jayden are great additions to the group. Oh, the dog Duke is alive through all of this as well!
The team makes several attempts to storm the lodge and Chase is killed in one of them. The group is devastasted. I think Bryan ends up dying too.
In the end, Wyatt is shot and left in a cave by Megan who goes to kill Neil. Brenda has taken Aiden (bullet graze), Jayden, WIllow, JJ, Rowland, Albert (shot in the leg) Tara, Amy, Frankie to hide.
With the help of Brenda, Megan kills Neil (who had already killed all his soldiers with the puffer fish venom) and rescues Rosie and Cailin. They are rescued the next day by military and just like that the EMP is over. Something to do with the data they recoved from Neil after they killed him.
Epilogue 4 years later:
Megan had a baby with husband Wyatt (Chase), Caitlin is 15
Willow lives on adjacent property with Rowland and JJ (now 5)
Rosie stayed at the lodge. Albert and Brenda are together and stayed with her.
Aidan and Jayden got their homestead back
Tara is pregnant, moved to AZ with Amy and she adopted Frankie
They are all meeting up at the lodge for a reunion.
Really, really liked this series. Enjoyed the survivor nature and the mini stories throughout.

My review is for the audiobook format.

An appropriate finale for post-EMP series.

Megan and the surviving lodge members have, up to this point, been through the worst kind of hell. Not only has the EMP erased their chances of ever living ''normally'' again, but they've lost so many people they cared about. After journeying back home from the NRU debacle, Megan's group finds their lodge occupied by an unwelcome and well-armed militia. Avoiding another shootout in their weakened state, Megan flees into the cover of the forest. The group endures sub-standard living conditions while they rest and recover, but soon they're plotting a strategy to retake the lodge. Time passes, faith dwindles, and the group is unsure whether or not they'll ever find hope again. Will Megan and her friends muster the strength to fight one more battle? The battle for their future?

Grace Hamilton's EMP Lodge series offers all readers an introduction to basic survival tactics, handy even without the pesky post-apocalyptic event. I've had fun listening to this series and praise Andrew Tell for his narrative performance throughout. Overall, a well written book series appropriate for teens and adults.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge. My review is unbiased and the opinions expressed herein are 100% my own.

I read the series of 6 and gave the entire set a 3 rating. I really wish the authors would stick to three or four books, the entire time frame of the story takes place in 18 months (except in the epilogue where it skips forward 5 years later) it shouldn't take 6 books to span 18 months. But, all in all I found the story entertaining and did enjoy most of the characters, especially Wyatt, Jack, Chase and Albert and Rosie. I somehow never did "connect" with Megan, she was supposed to be an experienced hunter, tracker yet she lacked most survival skills and so stubborn and pigheaded everything had to be her way or the highway, really unlikable. I have to say however, I really do like a book with a ton of characters, there were a few few story line mistakes (continuity) and a few grammar mistakes but not important enough to keep me from starting Ms. Hamilton's next series.

This one ends things for our group and man...it was a fight to the end for them. The home they have fought for the whole time is gone, they are missing 4 people, more of their group dies and they are still just fighting for a safe place to live, that is all they want. It seems like it is a fight to the end, but finally things go their way and what they find after it a bit crazy. What happens after that is even crazier. I did like the last chapter, like know what life is like 5 years after all of this and how everyone is doing. They all have such a bond after living through this, you can see meetings like this for years to come.

This is the 6th and final book in the EMP Lodge series. I'm glad to say that I'm finally done with this series. By now I sound like a broken record, but the pace of the entire series was glacial and void of any substantial action.

I was left with the impression that the author only added short action scenes because she felt she had to, but really wanted to instead just focus on character based story telling.

If you love deep character building and a slow rolled story then this series is for you. If on the other hand you like good and engrossing battle scenes then steer well clear.

I am not sure why I picked this book up to read as this is not normally a part of my normal reading material. There was a lot loss experienced in this book and it didn't seem to stop which given the times it resembles or reflects the state of the current situation at the end of 2020 with the pandemic.
That asshole and pardon my French but he finally got what he deserved in the long run thinking he was one to be above everyone and just taking advance of where and when he could.
I did however appreciate the ending of the book and how they celebrated the lives lost.

Excellent Series

This series is really well written and very interesting. I binge read straight through the entire series so did not review each book. You definitely should start with the first one and read them in order. The only criticism I have is the language could have been better but it definitely was not the worst! As long as there is no f... word and God's is not used, I can manage to overlook a lot if the story is interesting enough and there is not explicit sex. This series is about adventure not sex.

Incredible imagination!

Fantastic story, well told. Exciting, thrilling, encompassing just about every emotion possible! So many helpful tips for preppers. Worth any price paid for all six books just for those tips. I just hope and pray that Ms. Hamilton makes enough money on this series to pay someone to proofread and edit her next series!

WOW!

Who could imagine going thru so much Hell! Perfect ending to an awesome series. Life isn't always fair, and fairytale endings don't always happen but if you fight like Hell for the right reasons, sometimes the fates smile on you.
Another Great job by Grace Hamilton! Bravo! RESPECT!

I love this genre of books but was fed up with the books where there is no focus on survival and survival skills and only mindless violence is the whole story. Although this book series also has violence but there is a good portion where people are focusing on survival by using various survival skills. The writing is ok, could have been better. But I liked this series and will recommend.

Book Review:
“Dark Revival (EMP Lodge Series Book 6)” by Grace Hamilton
This last novel in the series had surprises until the end. Megan proved herself to be a heroine par excellence. The epilogue portrayed a happy ending in spite of all the trials and tribulations. Great series!

Wow what a amazing ending to a fabulous series. I loved all the crazy action and drama in this one. The only bad thing is this is the end of the series and I feel like all the characters are friends and I will miss them.
