The books tells you about the Disney villains, their favorite and not so favorite things and a little story from their point of view on how to be a villain. There is a few flaps and pop-ups to turn on the way in the book. All in all a nice book.
This is a great addition to the collection of any Disney-fan, and especially Disney villain-fan. It's like a resume of the Disney villains, their strengths, weaknesses, likes, dislikes... BUT it only shows your standard Disney villains. I'm missing some villains here! I mean, where's Medusa? Governor Ratcliffe? Chernabog? Madam Mim? Ratigan? The guy from Rescuers down under? Yzma? That Hun-guy from Mulan? This could have been done better if they would have added these 'lesser-known' villains, and their stories.
This is THE book for classic Disney movie fans! Rather than focusing on the princesses or heroines in all the favorite Disney movies, this book instead focuses on the villains, those characters we love to hate but have such key roles in each of the movies. Each of these characters was created for the sole purpose of being hateful, vile, and evil. The movies wouldn’t have been the same without their famous lines and characteristics. These evil characters were just as fun to create as their sweet counterparts. Find out all about their unique traits in this fun chapter book.
Among fabulous illustrations and bulleted characteristics like skills, prized possessions, likes and dislikes, readers can learn all about what made these characters so evil and despised. As an adult, I found this book so fun. It’s been a while since I’ve watched most of these movies and reading this book made me want to have a Disney movie marathon and watch them all again.
The villains included in the book are:
Evil Queen (Snow White) – dislikes NOT being the fairest in the land! Jafar (Aladdin) – is ironically stuck in a genie bottle for the rest of his life Mother Gothel (Rapunzel) – climbs towers to keep fit Lady Tremaine (Cinderella) – dislikes mice Ursula (The Little Mermaid) – dislikes banishment Scar (Lion King) – main skill is manipulation Cruella De Vil (101 Dalmatians) – likes high fashion and dislikes dogs Gaston (Beauty and the Beast) – dislikes books with too many words 😂🤣 Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) – dislikes good fairies Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland) – likes croquet and winning Captain Hook (Peter Pan) – dislikes being called “Codfish” Hades (Hercules) -likes causing chaos Dr. Facilier (The Princess and the Frog) – prior work experience, swindler
Beyond the bulleted characteristics, there are a few pages of dialog with another character from the movie. The dialog usually relates to their demise and is pretty funny. This book is more for fun and not something you would want your child reading for school. But, it’s a nice break and certainly a must for Disney fans of all ages.
This book is great for Disney or Disney Villains fans. It has 13 villains stories and we get to read there side of there stories.
Every characters first page has a couple of information about them self. For example : there work experience, hair colour, school, skills, likes and prized possession.
The illustrations are beautiful and interesting to look at. Beautiful book to look through. It's a fun book to read and a nice collectors item.
This was the first book granddaughter Jane and I read together in 2019! The descriptions of the characters are delightful. The author selected words to nurture vocabulary growth in the upper elementary reader while maintaining a sense of humor. We laughed and laughed as we took turns reading the dialogue. Some "chapters" urged a second reading. Great fun!
What a fun book! I've always loved villains and the Disney villains are some of the best.
This fun little book highlights various Disney villains and gives you stats, facts, and interesting nuggets of information about them. It's a ton of fun for kids that love learning about the bad guy.
Disney Villains: The Evilest of Them All is a fun read for anyone who, like me, is a big Disney fan, especially if, also like me, you especially love the villains. There is really only one reason why I award it four stars rather than the full five stars - that being that it isn't quite what I expected. I for some reason expected it to be more along the lines of being the villains' journals - their explicit reasons for doing what they do and their plans and schematics regarding how they are going to carry them out. I expected it to afford you the opportunity to really take a very deep dive into the villains' minds and psyches, but the sole purpose of this book's entries is really just to recap the events of each of the featured villains' movies but from the villain's perspective. I didn't take much away from this book other than plot summaries, so, as I said, it really wasn't quite what I expected (and to be honest, if you're looking for a deep dive into the minds of the villains, then I recommend Serena Valentino's Villains series of novels as you will likely get more of that sort of thing from that series). With that being said, however, it's fun for what it is, and it is definitely amusing, especially since the writer (Rachel Upton) does a pretty good job of writing with the villain's voice. Each entry begins with the villain's profile (occupation, eye color, hair color, and so forth) and then moves into a dialogue between the villain and his or her minion(s) in which the villain recaps the story from their perspective. (Featured are Queen Grimhilde, Jafar, Mother Gothel, Lady Tremaine, Ursula, Scar, Cruella, Gaston, Maleficent, Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, Hades, and Dr. Facilier, and I do wish that Frollo had been featured as well.) Often times, the entry ends with the villain insisting that things went their way and that they won (even though that isn't the truth), but it doesn't always make sense because in many cases (such as in the cases of Grimhilde, Maleficent, Ursula, Gaston, etc.), the villains weren't just defeated but were killed, so are they speaking from beyond the veil? (I realize that I am overthinking that, but just roll with me.) I, as I said, like it for what it is and found it to be a fun read. I especially like that it's kind of interactive in that it features gatefolds and lift-the-flap pictures.
Are all of the Disney villains really bad, horrible and evil? Absolutely! This hilarious guide will give readers insight on each villain and provides these evil characters an opportunity to actually defend or justify why they do the naughty things they do. It’s hilariously fun to read and get insight on their evil hearts.
Ursula takes pride in the fact that she is a freelance sea witch. She doesn’t like people who break magical contracts and she really doesn’t like King Triton. As a matter of fact, her prize possession is his crown and trident. Her plan was to rule the sea, that is until she met Ariel. When her plan was foiled she simply decided that ruling the sea wasn’t for her. And of course it wasn’t that she was defeated, she just changed her mind.
Dr. Facilier has unique voo doo talents and loves a good magic potion. He doesn’t like magical debts, being poor or disrespected. He had a plan to take on a Prince’s lifestyle by tricking him and turning him into a frog. Little did he know, that with loves true kiss, from a waitress to a frog would mess up things and get his friends, from the other side, a little upset. It’s all good. Like many times before, he is like a bad penny and will turn up again.
Disney fans will love this cheeky guide which provides readers with an inside look into each villains likes, dislikes, skills, education and even work experience. It reads like a personal interview with each villain explaining their non-defeat. Readers will find all of the characteristics that make these villians the bad guys you love to hate. This fast fun read is great for any family library and is a great conversation starter at gatherings for debate as to whom is the evilest of them all.
Such a brilliant children's book. I love how it tells the stories of the evil characters in a conversational kind of style alongside their sidekicks with plenty of classic imagery and some brilliant pull-out features that make it interactive and fun.
What's not to like about this book? I love how the characters twist the truth as in they believe what they are telling as the truth just to soften the blow that they had.
It's so good, and Rachel Upton has really captured the essence of each of the villains in this book - it's so worth a read!
Villains covered in this book are: Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Jafar from Aladdin, Mother Gothel from Tangled, Lady Tremaine from Cinderella, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Scar from The Lion King, Cruella De Vil from One Hundred and One Dalmatians, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, Captain Hook from Peter Pan, Hades from Hercules, and Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog.
Me and my daughter love Disney, I am not ashamed in the least to say that I get more excited for new movies sometimes than the kiddies do.... This was a lovely little read and can be read in one sitting (if it is for a child that wont let you stop reading at bedtime), but there are a fair few bigger words in there that I needed to explain so it's one that younger children would need help with. This is a book made to look like a series of fact files and opinions of a collection of 'bad guys' from disneys biggest films who have their own version of events to tell. Each characters profile is only a handful of pages long but the artwork is gorgeous and they have really managed to capture the characters mannerisms.
I have been a fan of the Disney Villains since I was very young. This book was a cute read about most of the Disney villains, told in each of the villains' voices and also their sidekicks'. Each felt real to the characters and was an interesting look at their movies. My favorites were Hades (whose my favorite of the Disney villains) and also Gaston.
My only complaint is that it didn't have Yzma, who I thought would have been a great addition along with Kronk. That would have been "Brilliant, brilliant, BRILLIANT!"
Overall, this was a great addition to my Disney collection and I really enjoyed the design of it overall. Loved the humor of it.
THE EVILEST OF THEM ALL talks about all things villains. It goes through the popular ones like, Jafar, Ursula, Maleficent, and more! It talks about the likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, and fun information of each one. There's also some interactive flaps that open up.
I love the layout of the book and the pictures. This is the perfect addition to any Disney collector's library, especially those who like the villains. I loved seeing the newer ones like Mother Gothel and Dr. Facilier. I love the humor and how vibrant the pictures are. This is a fun read fans won't want to miss.
Final Verdict: I would recommend this to fans of Disney, villains, and humor.
This book is awesome. As a huge Disney fan, it is fun to see what makes the villains we love to dislike so compelling. In this original and beautifully designed book (with colorful illustrations, flaps and full page gate-flaps) you will get to explore all the villains in all their infamous glory! You will learn their likes, dislikes, skills, education and so much more in a resume like layout with their own thoughts included. Such a fun and interesting book and one I really adore!
Book 48 of '24 - Villians: The Evilest of All (94)- picked up this little treat from half price books for 3 bucks, cuz Disney Villains of course!! It's just a little summary of the most popular Disney villains and their stories from their point of view. Cute and a quick way to pass the time waiting for kids to get out of after school activities.
Cute. It doesn't offer anything new. But a journal of all the villians explaining why they are the worst. I wish it had more. The writing and pictures is very cute. My daughter loved it and liked the banter in it.
Este libro es muy guay, esa forma de presentar a los villanos en "Currículums" y después la historia de las películas contadas por los villanos, como si estuvieras hablando con ellos mismos, me encanta. Un libro fascinante para los fans de villanos Disney.
This was so cute!!! I love anything Disney so I knew I would like it but it was fun to read the villains side of things! It went into their stories after the movies happened. If you like Disney - I matter your age I think you would really enjoy this one! Nice quick fun read!
I love Disney. I used to want to be Ariel when I was a kid, but now I feel more like Ursula would be a better fit. This book is so cute, fact files and the stories in the words of the villains. It's cute and fun and the pictures are great ... A cute addition for any Disney Fan!!!
A good quick read for all things Disney villian and how they felt about the events of their movies. This book is more like a character profile book than an actual novel but fun for kids to learn about their favorite villain!
I root for the villains-- The misunderstood, The hurt, The defeated. I always dreamed of Ursula and Yzema, while my friends dreamed of Belle and Ariel.
