My name is Ava Dawson. Ever since I was young, I have had this strange “gift” of invisibility. I can’t explain it, nor can I always control it. It affects my work, my personal life, dating—all but my mother and best friend seem to be affected. No matter what I do, I seem to always be forgotten.
Until I meet these gorgeous guys during a girls’ night out, and there’s something strangely alluring about them. An ancient curse brings us together, while a group of supernatural “Collectors” is threatening to tear us apart. They’re targeting people with special abilities like mine, and all four men have taken it upon themselves to protect me. But with their complicated pasts, I can’t help but feel protective of them, too. I’m trying not to get in over my head, with these men, and the magic.
But I have to admit, It’s nice to be seen after years of being invisible.

Sariah Skye physically resides with her family in southern Minnesota but mentally everyone is pretty sure she’s from Uranus. She’s a typical quirky Aquarian that swears too much, loves wine, shiny objects, and hates sarcasm and never, ever uses it. She also loves Star Trek, Doctor Who, ‘90s reruns, and Imagine Dragons (probably a little too much). In addition to all this oddity she’s an unprofessional obsessive fangirl, loves reading, hates anything domestic, and loves her pretty pink straitjacket. Oh, and she loves to chat with her unwilling kidnappees—err, “fans”, online at various places, like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram .Or drop her an email at sariahskyeauthor@gmail.com or private message her on Facebook. She also has a private group called the Shenanigan Squad for anyone who might possibly want to follow her works, progress, or just share a silly meme war (though she really doesn’t understand why anyone is there, she loves them all nevertheless). If you want to join, you’re more than welcome: https://www.facebook.com/groups/11818... You can also sign up for her newsletter, and maybe she’ll actually remember to send one out one of these days: http://eepurl.com/cqSJWD
I picked this book half by accident, half by stupidity. I was minding my own business, looking for a specific book, when this one got suggested. Somehow I couldn't see the cover design for it, and in my grand simplicity of mind, I read the word 'Avalon', I thought Arthurian legend, and just went for it.
Grave mistake, people.
The first hint I got was when I was finally able to see the cover. Seriously, what were they thinking making this monstrosity?
Then I read the blurb... And it was bad...
...And for some reason I still started reading the damned book.
Okay, to be perfectly honest, maybe I have a small idea of why I went for it anyway: I'm an arsehole with a bad case of morbid curiosity. I just really wanted to know how awful it would get, and then enjoy making angry little notes and sending quotes to some of my friends accompanied with outraged comments.
Yes. I am a bad person. What can I say.
Anyway, the expected awfulness did not disappoint. Here's a rough list of everything that was wrong:
-Everything.
...
...
...
Okay, I'm making a slightly more detailed list:
- Girl-on-girl hate - Slut-shaming - Not-like-other-girls trope - Overall misogyny - Being relieved that your mother probably conceived you while being under a spell (so basically being raped), rather than her having made a conscious decision that makes you call her a "trampy little whore" (yes, this is an actual quote from the MC about her mom). - Too many exclamation points. - Suggesting by using the not-smooth "you catch my drift" that you're bestie is a lesbian rather than just saying it, thus implying it's somewhat shameful or funny. - Insta-lust - Being relieved your bestie is gay, because otherwise she'd get all the guys and not you... It's the freaking 21st century here, you're supposed to know that the idiotic GBF thing is just homophobia. - Toxic gender roles and binarity beliefs. - Racial fetishism. I swear to god, IF YOU ARE A WHITE PERSON YOU ARE BANNED FROM EVER USING THE WORD 'EXOTIC' WHEN TALKING ABOUT ANOTHER PERSON. Period. - Racism. (No, white lady, you can't call a person of color 'swarthy' repeatedly instead of their real name, it's neither funny nor clever of you.) - Bad editing. - Doing extremely stupid things in order to move the plot forward and then justifying it later by saying "I don't know why I did that, haha, silly me". It doesn't justify anything and still makes you an moronic character. - Poor vocabulary. You can't throw the word 'hot' on every damn page, c'mon. - -
I didn't hate it and I didn't love it. It was okay. I liked Avie and her guts just fine but it was just something missing, I can't put my finger on what that is though.
Just interesting enough to keep me moving on to the next book.
Sariah Skye totally blew me away with this book. I have read all of her books and Love them all, but this one totally took me by surprise. She is such a talented author. Invisible is a RH book and not something I would normally read. I absolutely loved it and can't wait for the next one. The range of emotions Sariah takes you one is out of this world. From confusion, wonder, and hope to edge of your seat, happy, sad..... There are just so many. I highly recommend you read this book. Even if it isn't something you would normally read. You have to give it a try. I couldn't put it down!
“I wish I could be invisible. Please, let me be invisible!” How many time in your life have you wished for the same thing? I'm guessing it never really works for you, has it? Well, it worked for Ava. She actually can turn invisible. Except, apparently, there's a downside to that (Figures, right?) - Ava gets completely overlooked by everyone. People simply do not notice her, or forget she even exists . Makes dating practically impossible, seeing as how the male population doesn't take notice of her. It's like she's not even there, men simply do not see her. That is, until four guys do.
I immediately warmed up to the story, because I found the take on the plot to be rather interesting. I mean, who did not, at least once in their life, wished to become invisible? And I found the whole drawback of Ava's ability fascinating. I'm still not sure I fully understand the origins of her powers and how Avalon plays into all of this, but I'm willing to see how it goes. Ava herself brought up conflicted emotions in me. I went back and forth between liking her upbeat personality and smart mouth to kind of being sick of it. On the one hand, she's sassy and smart and doesn't let anything bring her down. On the inter hand, she just sort of rolled with everything the guys tell her, accepting all the facts so easily. She often does not see what's right in front of her and fails to take things seriously. Ava knew the guys for less than a day and already she decided not to choose between them, because "anything goes"? I'm not buying it. The guys, on their end, I wanted to be more...manly? A little less hesitant and shy maybe, more sure of themselves. I mean, they are incubus, for fucks sake, drop the blushing already. Plus, it felt like they chose to go after Ava out of convenience, rather than attraction. “Avalon. It’s not like we have many prospects! One cambion for a number of incubi in…centuries?” Not very romantic. And even though they claimed to have liked her regardless, I did not feel it. Halfway through I started to loose my interest in the story and was feeling a little bored. I was actually making myself keep reading. But I definitely perked up when that plot twist dropped. Damn, that was one hell of a twist. I expected the hit to come from completely different direction and I liked that it managed to creep up on me. It surprised me and in a good way, too. The story sure had its fair share of ups and downs. But, now what? Where do we go from here?

All I can say is AWESOME! Being a British Lit major probably makes me totally biased about this book, but who cares? What an amazing incorporation of the Arthurian Legend. I love that we are able to jump right into a some at least kissing action and not have to wait until book 5 for a slow, slow burn. There are just so many wonderful things about this book that it is hard to know where to start-witches, Lancelot, Avalon, incubi, and tons of other amazing fantastical creatures. I can't wait until book 2 where things should really heat up. I will be honest, I never saw the twists and turns coming. Great read! 100% recommend.
I did not see that one coming! Avie is funny and has a really smart mouth. The dialogue is full of banter and hot! 4 hot guys supes and an “woman” that is in danger! Of course the guys have to save her! Haha
There was time during the Dark Ages after the fall of Rome when a legend of light and magic arose! You may ask what this has to do with a girl from Minnesota who is most noteworthy for going unnoticed? Well dear reader you will just have to turn the pages and find out for your self! A sassy irreverent Heroine and four smarmy hunks combine to make for a humorous and entertaining read! The story is breath taking, action packed, and intense! Stuffed with hot kisses and steamy looks I am surprised my kindle did not melt! Ms. Skye did not miss the mark in her research! This story will wet your appetite for so much more!
Ava Dawson has never stood out. In fact, she's nearly invisible. Guys don't notice her, bosses never give her credit, people forget that she's even around, sometimes she truly seems to disappear. The only people she matters to are her mom and her best friend, Summer. Until she's out at a club with Summer and has a random encounter with a guy that definitely notices her. And he has friends. The encounter is brief and the guys disappear after but this is only the beginning. After witnessing a disturbing event later in the night the guy's leader visits Ava the next day to explain what she saw, who they are, whom they suspect her to be, and that if correct, Ava is in danger. This turns out to be true but the guys are there to protect Ava. Soon she finds herself drawn to all four guys, all four are interested in her, and she's in more danger than they even suspected. In no time Ava goes from invisible to most desired.
Invisible is a twist on the story of Camelot including paranormal creatures; witches, demons, shifters, fae. It's a great premise but fell short in my opinion. It wasn't bad but felt rushed. One minute Ava's life was uneventful, the next she's on the top of everyone's hit list. What triggered the change? The guys were all good characters. Serious Matthias who turned out to be the ultimate softie; Xander, the storm ninja; Bash, the unique combination of bad boy and geek; and easygoing Trystan with his ability to communicate with animals. Each one was likable despite their long history and needs. Ava was harder to connect to. She was prickly at times. I liked her best when she was joking or lowered her guard. I also would have liked for the relationships to be more developed. It would be natural that the guys were drawn to Ava because of the promise of what they could have with her. I needed to know that she was special to them regardless of her lineage. The side characters were even more of an issue. Summer did not come across as a bestie at all, more like a random roommate. The other characters I will leave alone to prevent from accidentally giving a spoiler.
As stated this book has a great premise. The series has a strong foundation. The foe is formidable and each character has a reason to be involved in the fight. With a bit more polish and development, this could turn out to be an excellent series.
dnf @ 67%. i tried you guys, i honestly really really did, but this book was just so bad.
plot was great, the idea was great, and i really wanted to see where the story went but i could NOT get over the FMC! this story had so much potential but the characters just ruined it for me. i probably would’ve stopped a lot sooner if the concept for the story wasn’t so interesting (albeit poorly executed)
i have never disliked an FMC so much. she’s a whiney brat for one, two she was so ‘not like other girls’ that i rolled my eyes almost every other page to the point where they almost got stuck in the back of my head.
she thinks she’s so great, everyone thinks she’s so great but dude. she’s useless 🤦🏻♀️ like the only thing she can do is turn invisible but she’s not trying to learn or get better, she’s just like ‘oh i’m so special i’ll be fine’ this girl is like the definition of TSTL. the H’s rescued her several times, and when they offered to help her learn to defend herself she declined, yet she also wanted to stay home without them? what?
she was also extremely sexist, slut-shamed other women constantly, and was also surprisingly racist. she called a guy who tried to hurt her swarthy (for his name) which literally means ‘dark-skinned’ according to google. and the guys were just ok with this? even laughed? like one of the H’s is a POC and was a literal slave and this was all ok? whaaaat? and to top it all off, she was a horrible friend to summer.
the guys were alright, but they were pretty one dimensional. they told us their tragic backstories but i honestly didn’t really connect with them.
overall, i would just skip it. there’s nothing against the author, but this book just wasn’t for me. (clearly.) as always, this is my own opinion and could be very different from yours. give it a try to form your own, you may love it.
LOVED this series... It's a great new reverse haren book that's NOT about weres or vampires.... Ava Dawson lives with her BFF Summer in one side of a duplex, and her wacky Bohemian mother in the other side. To say her life has been different is an understatement.... She's always had some form of anxiety, it since 7the grade it's as if nobody but Summer and her mother can see her. In class teachers overlook her even when looking in her direction, she's passed over for projects, dates ignore her and spend the entire time on their cell phones. It's enough to give a gal a SEVERE complex!! Wanting to let loose one night, the girls go out to a new club called Stargazer.... Within minutes of getting inside Summer wanders off to dance convinced Ava and her invisibility is all in her mind and that she'll find her own dance partner soon. WRONG... As usual everyone looks right through her... Out of nowhere she ends up in the floor and one of these jerks steps on her and draws blood... Ick!! She looks up when a totally bottle (is she seeing things) reaches down to help her up.... Meanwhile she sees another guy all over a very underage young girl.... This is all kinds of messed up! Lo and behold her knight in shining armor not onky berated Mr. SUCKYFACE, but demands he apologize for injuring Ava. What the heck is going on? As if that wasn't mind boggling enough.... Three more Adonis males turn up and smile her way. Turns out they know her knight. This night just keeps getting crazier and crazier, and of course Summer is nowhere around. Little does Ava know, it her night is going to continue to get even crazier still! Upon leaving the club she spies the same hot guys attack the jerk from the club who hurt her... That's bad enough... Then they go to kill him! She quickly realizes that sure enough no idy around her can see her... After all, if they did they certsi my wouldn't be doing this! She's all set to leave when the jerk who hurt her pulls a blade as one of the psycho cities has his back turn. With all her will she steps forward, points and YELLS to lookout! All these alpha males look utterly STUNNED at her sudden appearance, but act upon her warning. She wastes no time and runs as fast as she can back to Sumner... Praying with all her might that they won't catch up to her. Looks like her prayers are I need answered. Upon reuniting with Summer, she informs Ava that something hinky happened... For some reason it was like she was stuck in a force field... She literally couldn't run after Ava when she came upon the scene with the guys. Between that and the bizarre invisibility Ava KNOWS something is off. No matter what her mother and Summer continue to say to her. Things like this just aren't suppose to happen!!! Little does she know her night will get even more bizarre! Turns out she's not even human?!?!?! Her mother would never tell her anything about her father... Ava never net him and knows nothing about him... Her mother on the other hand is an self proclaimed witch... Ava took that to mean a Bohemian style person, not a person with actual magic. Oh.. And those hot aloha males who actually SAW her in the club?!?! They become a major part of her life... Determined to keep her safe from forces she's unaware of... These guys all take turns being around her... In fact they end up convincing her to go back to their house for safety.... And what a story they have! Ava has figured she's probably NOT 100% human... But what the heck is going on, and WHO are these hunks?!?! I adore the fact this quick paced book isn't the typical PNR book about weres or vamps.... Nope, this book is very original indeed. And here's a hint.... Ava's full first name is Avalon like in the myth of King Arthur... That will definitely come into play at some point. Running from mysterious forces, learning strange new powers, trying to learn about these droolworthy guys... All the while trying to keep this all quiet from her mum and best friend. Could anything else go wrong?!?! Be careful what you ask! …take this ride and get to know Ava and the guys... Learn what the big secret is and see what other craziness happens... And this is only the first book of this series!!! I cannot wait to read the next in this series. Have fun and get to know Avalon and her new friends... Lots of fun, powers, craziness, secrets and super hot guys run all through this story... And maybe a knight of the round table shows up at some point? Have fun!!
2 stars for writing, 4 stars for the potential that I could see in this story… I only wish that potential wasn’t twarthed by bad foreshadowing, too little editing, and just illogical plot points (as well as illogical reactions to those plot points).
3 stars is probably generous, but honestly? I was just happy to find a semi slow burn rh with no m/m after a long time, so I’m definitely too ready to cut it all the slack.
Anyways, what I liked: I liked the premise, I think Avalon as a charavger was pretty ok, I liked her best friend, I liked her love interests well enough, and I liked that they didn’t have sex within 5 minutes of meeting each other (though SPOILER ALERT they did unfortunately move in together within five minutes of meeting each other).
What I didn’t like: some parts were just written weird, I really fucking hated the ”plot twist” in the end bc honestly there was no indication that SPOLER ALERT SPOLER ALERT SPOILER ALERT her mother was evil. Seriously, wtf? Were we supposed to figure that out bc she cautioned her daughter against meeting with 4 guys at the same time, bc she could be a little rude and bc her freaking chihuahua or whatever didn’t like Avalon??? Bc bitch please, that is not how you flreshadow evil.
I also hated the rest of the plotholes, like (ok just assume that everything in this review needs a SPOILER ALERT from this moment on) her father having appsrently watched over her all her life??? But she’s never once seen him until she’s 25 years old. And speaking of, why did her mother wait with the sacrifice until Ava was freaking 25, and live like a normal mother and freaking artist until then??? It’s all so weeeeird ahhhh.
Finally, I disliked that the guys didn’t seem ”real” to me. Sure they were hot, had just enough (barely) distinction between theor persionalities (if you can call them that) that I was able to tell them apart, barely. But to me they just came avross as a girl’s fantasy, not as real guys nor people. I mean seriously? They want her to not work, they don’t get jealous between them, one of them does all the cooking, another one ”has ocd” and therefore does all the cleaning? Puh-lease. I mean sure, I’d take it, but I don’t think that exists, nor that it would be fair to never do any housework at all.
So why still 3 stars? Idk ok, guess I’m just STARVED for slow/medium burn rh without m/m, sue me. (This ain’t my fault ok? Y’all should start writing more shit in this sub-genre so I wasn’t forced to give books like this 3 stars. Honestly. It’s insulting to me too.)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This quirky story takes some interesting turns. Witches, warlocks, ancient tales thought to be fables, demons, fae, creepy collectors, and much much more all have a part in this book. The witty banter keeps this from being any old paranormal romance and makes it a very enjoyable read. And an even better beginning to, what promises to be, a really amazing series. There are a few oopsies and grammar errors but nothing so hideous as to wrench you from the story.
Avalon is invisible. Only her mom and her best friend, Summer, seem to know she exists. Starting in school she realizes that people just don't see her. They don't interact at all face to face. Luckily, the job she does is online and her presence is acknowledged. It isn't glamorous work but at least her efforts are recognized! After a craptastically awful date, luckily for her, a strange car follows her. A few days later she spots another creepy follower. She goes from being ignored to paid attention she'd rather not be receiving. Help arrives from an unlikely, and less than normal, source. Her rescuers are demons, all 4 of them. Someone has noticed her budding abilities and they are determined to protect her until she can send for herself. Or so they all think, anyways. Turns out that there may possibly be some feelings involved. Oh, and when her friend disappears and a betrayal from an unlikely source snag her, Avalon decides enough is enough. She isn't going to give up her fighting spirit, or her new relationships. Somehow she'll make things work. Now, if her powers would quit flickering on and off like cheap Christmas lights, things would be so much better.
I adore with and banter. Dialogue means so much to a story! Avalon is fiesty as hell and the guys eat it up. For guys who've seen some years, and come from time periods where women were property and severely lacking in rights, they are very modern in their outlooks. I've always wondered at (albeit imaginary) characters that don't adapt with the ages. An immortal being that holds on to outdated attitudes has no appeal to me. These characters had a lot of appeal and were fleshed out well. I will definitely be looking for the next in the series.
Couldn't get enough of this book! I actually listened to the audiobook before reading the book again haha, and I couldn't wait to listen to more in my car or doing my chores around the house. I loved how snarky Avie was, but deep down she had so many bruises from past experiences with her "invisible"-ness. I could relate to her on some level (not the whole snark part, I definitely am not that badass/kickass!). I have felt ignored and like no one can hear me. I have felt what its like to be pushed aside and to be stomped over. I really rallied for her in this book. I loved how vulnerable she was, especially with the guys. I liked that she didn't instantly fall for them.
AND LET'S TALK ABOUT THE GUYS...holy smokes, I could imagine their hotness in my head for sure. I instantly fell for Mathias, but the others all were a close tie for second (hope to learn more about Bash, he is the one I think has a lot more story to tell and hasn't connected with Avie as much as the others). I loved how diverse Sariah made the harem (to be honest, first one with an Asian male in the harem and I totally could see who Sariah described).
I enjoyed some of the twists in this book. You could see where Sariah was going for the majority of the them, but a couple were definitely shocks. I really enjoyed the storyline and getting to see the different supes mentioned and not all her guys were the same thing. And the villains in this story were ON POINT! Great writing that kept me glued to my headphones and later my tablet when I devoured the book again before moving on to Book 2.
I cannot wait for more in this series. Definitely will be picking these all up in paperback and audiobook. You will not be disappointed in these books, especially those who love looooong books ❤️
So I had been thinking about trying this book for a while, and when it went on sale for $.99 I figured it was a perfect time to try it out. Ava is a 25 year old with a problem, she is constantly ignored. Not just ignored like people don't pay attention to her sometimes, but people literally don't see her, don't even know she's there sometimes. Only her mom and her best friend Summer seem immune to her invisibility. Because of this, Ava has horrible luck with guys, they seem to either forget about her, or simply pay her no mind. That is until she meets four men who definitely see her. They're not just any men though, these guys are incubi, cursed with immortality and the need to refuel whether they like it or not. When someone starts targeting Ava, the guys step in, and together they figure out what she is and who is after her. This was a really unique story line. I liked that the guys were all from different time periods and the history we get from that. I also liked the blending of Arthurian Legend that we get in the story. Ava is a really fun character who while independent, can also be vulnerable, but still doesn't take crap from anyone. Even when everything goes wrong and she doesn't know who to trust, she stays strong and trusts her heart. I definitely wasn't expecting our villain so Sariah really through me for a loop with that plot twist!! And I'm not sure how I'm feeling about the new character brought in at the end but until proven otherwise I suppose he's a good addition for Ava. This was a great read and I'm excited to see where the rest of the series will take me!
I loved this book! It knocked the crankiness right out of me lol. I've already started reading the next one but I stopped to write this review before I get them mixed up. This going going to be a short, no spoilers review because I need to get back to the next book.
I love the characters and we get to know each one individually. I love the relationship between Avalon and Summer, real BFFs. All the relationships feel real actually. One of the reasons I fell so deep into the world this author built.
This book has all the ingredients of an amazing series ( I hope it has many parts) It has action, love, magic and steamy love scenes. I wish I had my own reverse harem😍! All of the guys are hot but Xander.....wow.
So many things happened in the first book, I'm just giddy thinking about it. I won't spoil things, just buy it! You won't regret it.
The only thing that bothered me was a editing issue. Sometimes there would no space between two words. It happens enough to be noticed but not enough to confuse the reader.
Uhhhhhm. I don't know where to start. I don't really know what to say. I can already tell his is going to be one of those series’ that I just don't like it all, but i like to torture myself so I'm going to push all the way through it.
I like the idea of the girl that everyone instantly forgets. I really think that I could have been well done and sweet and romantic to watch her fall in love. It's a great idea.
I really don't like making the villain pop out of nowhere at the very end as someone it never should have been. It was dumb. It felt like the author didn't think it all the way through and needed a plot twist and thought, hey! That will work. It didn't. there were no little clues or hints or anything throughout to make it even a little bit plausible that the villain be the villain. That was a major piss off.
Also, the explanation of Avalon was crap. It made no sense and was confusing. I also feel like the idea of the “realm” changed more than once.
Avie was whiny and annoying. I hate an fmc who can't do anything for herself. I hate when women in a book just pick up their whole lives and quit their job so their man (men) can take care of them. It's terrible. So that didn't work for me. Neither did her relationship with any of the guys. There's no chemistry with them. As much as I'm told there's a lot of tension and they look at each other with smoldering eyes or whatever, i felt nothing between anyone.
Anyway, maybe I'll like the next one more. I'm interested in seeing more of the King Arthur and Excalibur parts of this series.
This was my first ever RH book and I wasn't sure what to expect. Here I was thinking this would be mostly hot and steamy interactions but it was so much more!
Avalon (aka Ava or Avie as she can be called by friends only) has a power she knows nothing about. She has the worst luck with men. She lives a mundane life. She has settled. Then her life is turned upside down. She is introduced to FOUR (yes 4) amazingly attractive and wildly different men. If only they were one guy since they all have something she wants...or can she have them all!? This is what you're waiting for...now bring on the sexy party!
Ummm, wait what?! No sexy party?! Instead you're hit with emotions, battle, hurt, betrayal, suspense and not to mention you are teased into thinking "ok here it comes" so many times it makes your insides tingle with anticipation.
So the end comes and you tap your screen because there must be more right? right?! Okay fine I'll wait until the next book only because now not only do I need to know when and with whom the romp takes place with, or if she even settles on one, but what happens with her powers, with her personal relationships, her parents...I can't even!
This is just another great read by Skye and I can't wait for the next book!!!!
You can't go wrong with unusual magical gifts, mystery, and a bit of Arthurian lore, albeit a different take on said lore. This first book in the series does a good job of introducing The Curse of Avalon world and its great characters. While I liked Ava's snark and wit, it did take a while for her to grow on me as a heroine. She was just a bit too weak and self-deprecating for my tastes. I did like our male leads with their interesting back stories and determination to protect Ava at all cost. I was a bit surprised at the relatively low steam level in this one, especially for a reverse harem tale, not to mention the type of supernatural beings these people are. Not that its a bad thing - the story doesn't need to rely on steamy times. However, there is a considerable amount of admiration, especially from our heroine, and the number of times that things almost got racy did become a bit tedious. That aside, the premise of the series is good and there were a couple of seriously intriguing twists in this one, so I'll be interested to see where it goes from here.
Invisible is the first installment in the curse of Avalon series and if this is just the beginning than count me in for the whole thing! Skye has taken us on a journey of self discovery with Avie. She's completely relatable and so very likable, everything you want in an MC. Strange things happen to Ava, people ignore her, their eyes pass right over her - almost like she's invisible. Her mom and her best friend are the only ones that don't ignore her. She's coasting through life when she meets four of the hottest guys she's ever seen. . I particularly liked her four Incubi, Xander, Bash (Sebastian), Mathias and Trystan. A slave, a witch, gladiator and an eagle shifter before they were cursed with a demon and changed.
They completely turn her world upside down telling her about the supernatural world and makes her ask the question...can she really turn invisible? I loved this book it was an great read that kept me guessing until the end!!!!
Hmmm....this book was different from what I expected. It's my first read from this author. I was captured by the synopsis.
It didn't disappoint but it wasn't necessarily my favorite?
What I liked: The story line. It's really good! I love all things magic. I love Arthur and Lancelot. I want to see where this story goes. I also like how the men are from different time periods and different backgrounds. It's refreshing.
What I didn't like: Sometimes the heroine really annoyed me. It was little moments here and there. Honestly, I'm not too emotionally invested in any of the characters. I like them but I'm not to the 'you're my new book harem' stage.
Right now, this book is half/half I will wait to see if I want to read more of it. I will be reading the next installment. I want to see if this series gets better. I'm not willing to give up hope on such a good story line.
This was such a fun read! A completely different take on Arthurian Legend with some RH thrown in. I really loved the characters, interactions, and sexiness. It's a slow burn kind of read, no real action, but the lust is there, simmering. I especially enjoyed the interactions between each of the guys. They all have some trait that is uniquely theirs and pulls their personalities together. The inclusion of aspects like Ava's anxiety isn't seen much in books and really brings some realism to the story. Also the inclusion of Ava's best friend, Summer, and her being gay is still fairly uncommon, again adding added character realism to the story. Super fun read and I would definitely recommend.
I liked this book. It had some funny moments but it did lose me slightly toward the end. The following is super picky but I'm trying to figure out why, at the sacrificial scene, I put the book down and did something else. I finished the book as an afterthought. Which is a damn shame, so here are my thoughts.
I'm thinking it could have been a bit shorter.
The MCs moments of amnesia over getting in touch with her best friend then the panic of trying to get in touch with her? Hmm. A tad annoying.
The humour was strong in the beginning but that faded out.
The club scene when they got nowhere and still didn't find the hidden room? That scene dragged things out a bit.
Overall, this is a strong start to the series and I am going to read the next book.
Good story, not great. Good enough I'll pick up book 2 and hope our FMC levels out a bit. She was a bit over the top with the 'not like other girls' and 'I'm snarky and have a smart mouth when uncomfortable' vibes.
For now, just good.
Would recommend if you're looking for: 🔮 Paranormal 🔮 Reverse Harem 🔮 No MM (so far but the men did comment they are not gay so probably no MM overall) 🔮 FMC who doesn't know what she is 🔮 Demons/Witches/other supernaturals 🔮 Characters who are grown ups (the guys are immortal so they are much older. our FMC is 25) 🔮 Different take on King Arthur stories (don't expect exact details. Author does warn this is her take so if you don't like people taking liberties with classic stories you may not like this)
5 STARS !!!!!!!! I have not had the time to read books as much as before.. But, what an amazing read this book has been! I almost had to resort to reading the Kindle app on my mobile phone when a break presented itself!
The plot was something I have never read before and that in itself was refreshing. I have grown to like the RH genre, but I feel many books in that genre are too short, with poor character build. In Invisible you can actually enjoy the book - before you are of to buy the next one ;) I already love all the characters- and cannot wait to get to know some of them better in the books that are to follow in this series.
The story follows Ava, aka Avalon, as she makes her way through adulthood trying to get noticed by someone, anyone really. She feels invisible to people and has gone so far to shut herself in and work from home and barely socialize. Then some strange things start happening - she’s being followed for no reason and all of a sudden four guys, who can actually see her and she feels drawn to, show up. She finds that she is more like them than she thought, and those she thought she really knew, she learned quickly who would stay in her corner. Full of snark, slow burn romance, paranormals and heart.
This was amazing, first of all I loved the characters, secondly the premise was fresh and different, and thirdly the drama, action, adventure, conflict, emotion, and humour were all there and some beautifully! Ava was sweet and funny, confused, conflicted, down to earth, confident and yet still trying to find herself and figure things out. All of this made her easy to relate to and fun to read, I'm definitely invested in this adventurous and magical story. The unexpected twist of this paranormal blend of incubi and a historical icon together was awesome and I can not wait to indulge myself in the following books of this series!
I will admit up front, this book took me a couple of chapters to get into - I almost gave up until I realised the author was on one of my reading groups' lists for this month. Because of that, I stuck it out a little bit longer, and I'm really glad I did!
The story follows Ava - Avalon - a young woman with the unfortunate habit of turning invisible when stressed and being remarkably unnoticeable. It's also a very fresh and unusual take on Arthurian legends. I'm not going to say much more for fear of spoilers!
It's a slow burn reverse harem with 4 very different, but very hot guys, all of whom I'm looking forward to getting to know better over the rest of the series!
