Here are the first three volumes in the Missy the Werecat Series.
Missy the Werecat: Volume I
When puberty brings on her first Shift, Missy goes into the mountains for two years until finally learning to Change back. She can Change from fully human in one instant to a mountain lion in the next. Everyone assumes her two year disappearance was because she’d been kidnapped by a sexual predator that she managed to kill. She keeps her werecat nature a secret.
There is no pack, no pride of other werecats and no alpha. She’s a girl with fantastic abilities growing up and learning to do great things in today’s world, amongst humans. She only has her instincts to guide her and those drive her to train herself to extremes. She must control those instincts; dampening the wild predator is often necessary. Her raging hormones and enhanced senses require very strong controls; she explores what happens when those controls are relaxed.
Missy Goes to West Point: Volume II
The US Government’s Paranormal Branch has learned Missy’s secret and followed most of her activities. They have her FBI friend join their team, telling him that other supernaturals also exist but Missy is the only female werecat. They want Missy to go on to West Point and tell him that “being a vigilante is not what we want for this girl.”
But, what had started out as her simply trying to help protect another teenage girl eventually led to her being targeted by both the East Boston and New York criminal organizations. With some help from her FBI friend, she copes with crime bosses while finishing high school and starting out at West Point. She also gets some help from her new friends at West Point but makes some enemies there as well.
Even with all this help and her enhanced senses, Missy sure has her work cut out for her!
Missy’s First Mission: Volume III
US Government has avoided using supernaturals in the past, concerned that public knowledge of their existence will pose greater risks than any benefits. But, after Missy agrees to help her Paranormal Branch buddies and one thing leads to another … the question then becomes whether Missy can somehow provide assistance during an international crisis, without the world learning about her supernatural powers and abilities.
Meanwhile, when Missy interferes with the sexual harassment at West Point by going around and putting everyone there on notice, she becomes the target. Controlling herself … doing things in plain sight which almost look humanly possible … that just might be her greatest ability.
P. G. Allison has always loved stories about female characters with special powers (Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Bionic Woman, Batgirl) along with stories about witches and werewolves. The Missy the Werecat Series is about a girl growing up with no pack, no pride of other werecats and no Alpha; Missy is a girl with fantastic abilities doing great things in today's world, amongst humans. Other books in this paranormal, new adult, urban fantasy series have Missy going on to West Point and eventually serving in the Special Forces.
The story throughout this series is quite good. Interesting characters, plenty of relevant topics and keeping everything tied together was well done. The one huge disappointment was all the sexual BS! It is so unnecessary and such a pain to deal with. A truly talented author is able to create plenty of sexual tension and such without all those repetitive sexually intimate details. Read "Legends of the Guardian King" by Karen Hancock and you will see for yourself. That only makes a story better, not all that garbage just to fill up pages and up your word count thoughtlessly.
The plot had a comic book aspect I didn't like. Missy was just to dominant and basically untouchable. She rode from one adventure to the next, with adventures competing with over long sex events. There were so many of the latter they grew boring and I fund my self skipping over them. Was bothered by the fact that the characters of the boy friends were not developed at all except to serve the needs of Missy and Tracy. Independent of Missy and Tracy how were Mike and John doing in pursuit of their goals? As in th case f sex nothing ab out Missy "beauty" wa left to my imagination. If one is not turned one is not turned on by widen hips and a voluptuous body the there is a conflict of perception and that is bad be cute beyond perceiving Missy as beautiful and sexy is important to the story. If the author had described Missy as beautiful and sexy the reader could have created their own image. I guess the same is true of the sex scenes. I will say, however, that some of the adventures were exciting.
I really liked the idea of this book but the writing style was very off putting for me. A teenage constantly calling her self super fit, sexy, and special is one thing but all the adults around her agreeing is disturbing and problematic. Everyone around the main character just keeps stating she is very special then moves on to the next plot point. Special and sexy and fit are her main descriptors and very overused.
I made it through the first volume but couldn’t bring myself to read the other two after the main character states she isn’t “damaged goods” implying others (including her best friend at that point in the story) are.
Overall an interesting idea and the plot line was fun but the word choices and writing style kept throwing me out of the story and it wasn’t for me.
The point of view, and the writing is terrible. It’s written as if from a narrators point of view. They don’t understand female anatomy AT ALL. Author, for future reference, a catheter can not tear a hymen, it’s not in the same hole. You also can’t actually tell if a woman has been assaulted based on the state of her hymen, and virginity is not reflected by the hymen either. A virgin can have it torn, and someone who’s had intercourse can have an intact hymen under some circumstances. The whole things a mess.
Missy the Werecat is so much more than that. She is a martial artist, very strong, has excellent rifle shooting scores and can change into a mountain lion. She meets and keeps Mike, her soulmate, which provides some noisy loving. I love that Missy has a warm and caring nature and makes really good friends wherever she goes. There’s a nice rhythm to the story and plenty of descriptions and action. Missy is my book hero!
This book was filled with great characters in what looks to be a fun universe. The main character progressed in an interesting manner through the stories, and I am sure it will be interesting to continue to follow them in future books if there are any. Action, magic, good dialogue and interesting locations, very fun to read. I enjoyed this set of books and recommend it.
I really enjoyed getting to know Missy, her family and many of her friends. Missy and Mike make a great couple. I enjoyed getting to know her and her girlfriends at West Point. I’m hoping there is more of these books of all the trouble she seems to get herself into.
This is a new author for me. I highly recommend this series to everyone. Being a military brat, married to a marine, and having a family member graduate from West Point I was able to follow a lot of military jargon used. These books were well written and exciting. No red pen needed! I hope there are more because I would purchase them. Good job!
A brilliant book by P. G. Allison, an excellent storyline of entertaining characters in a wonderful set of ideas. Brilliant well done.Gary Challenger from Devon UK
