Echo Fox has a beautiful writing style which takes time to delicately paint a picture of the landscape and world you're in, building it's characters and civilisations whilst holding a humble level of conversation between characters which feels natural.

The story laid out in Equilibria is a tense adventure across the landscape of Pangaea, an ancient land hosting four separate civilisations which each embrace one of the four elements. The book begins with a representative from each culture meeting to solve an issue of epic proportions. Beyond the main characters, the world is constantly evolving, each nation acts independently with it's own council and key members with their own motivations. Whether they work for or against their leaders adds a nice depth to the world ensuring the reader can assume nothing, twists and turns make Equilibria a very fresh and enjoyable read.

Equilibria brings together the prequel collection beautifully. The four characters harmonise well emphasising their different talents whilst still retaining the depth laid out in each of their origins.

The book works well as a standalone but to get the most out of this series I'd recommend reading the four prequel books (before or after Equilibria shouldn't make much difference, but I would recommend reading them in the order Wave Singers, Earth Drummer, Air Riders, Fire Dancer) which make up the Equilibria Collection as it continues the enjoyment beyond this solitary novel.
