In the follow-up to Pink , Cassie’s story continues as she searches for Sam. She mourns the death of her mother who was killed by the mec, the surgically created male who sought to kidnap Sam. With the help of Jamie, the childhood friend she discovered in a secret isolation chamber, Cassie looks for her lost love.

Cassie also helps her father and now six-year-old twin brother Cody to adjust after The Return, the night the men came back from the void . . . the night Cassie drowned Sam. But she knows he is still alive—Sam called out to her, his voice distant but still there, reaching out from some unknown place.

Jamie accompanies Cassie in her quest to find Sam, all the while struggling to hide his own growing feelings for her. Yet it is Cody who sends Cassie on a journey she never thought possible, a journey that will change her life forever. Will she succeed in saving Sam from the black cloud that is bent on destroying him? Or will Cassie lose Sam forever?

Puzzle, the second novel in Stephanie Powell's futuristic and dystopian YA series, is just as compelling as its predecessor. As Powell leads readers on Cassie's journey to find Sam, she introduces fascinating characters: the mysterious Virginia, the now six-year-old Cody, and a cast of menacing mecs, for starters. The author crafts a truly unexpected story--I was unable to put Puzzle down--and creates palpable tension and suspense throughout the novel. Powell also balances her dialogue with humor and tenderness, creating characters that feel genuine. Fans of sci-fi, dystopian novels, and futuristic fiction will love Powell's work. After finishing Puzzle, I was eager to read the final book in the Pink trilogy!

This was a good continuation to the first book Pink. Stephanie did a great time carrying on the story without any time lapsing. This time Cassie is trying to save Sam and she heads to a different dimension where Sam is located. I enjoyed this story with a lot of action happening. I look forward to readying the conclusion to the story and finding out what happens to Sam, Cassie, Jamie and Terry.

I loved the unique storyline of the first book, PINK. I was fascinated by the idea of our world suddenly missing the entire human male population and by how many ways that would change society. Now PUZZLE has taken that story in a whole new, mind blowing direction. Great fun to read!

Would not have chosen this book if I had not read and enjoyed the first of the trilogy, Pink. But once reading it, I was fascinated to see the interaction of the plots and characters. Stephanie, how soon do we get to read the third book, Perilous? I'm so looking forward to where you go with that!!!
