"The Mother of Hearts is here."Plagued with terrifying visions and hounded by wraiths, Frankie Mourning is on the run again. Afraid she will hurt Thomas Dekker, she goes off on her own and does what she does killing the killers. But Dekker needs her help. Corpses are washing up onto the Oregon coast, frozen solid and covered in hoarfrost. And their hearts are missing. As Frankie and Dekker delve deeper into the mystery, things get stranger. Frozen oceans; a woman who bursts into flame; holes in the fabric of reality; a shapeshifter; and a horrifying woman in a white shroud who claims she wants to help. Despite herself, Frankie finds herself closer to Dekker than ever, but her frightening power and terrifying visions grow stronger, threatening to hurt the last person alive she loves, along with anyone who gets in her way.But Dekker has a secret of his own, and it might just tear Frankie apart. If she can't keep it together, she's not sure what she's capable of. Though a dwindling group of gods seem to think she could be the salvation the world needs...or the catalyst of its destruction.

Binge Read

You know how folks binge watch Netflix? I found myself binge reading Hoarfrost. The book is fast-paced and creative... I felt like I had just started and the story was coming to an end, and the realization sank in that I'd have to patiently wait for book 3.

Hoarfrost is the second book in the Frankie Mourning saga. Frankie is a truly flawed and tortured character. Those are my favorite kind. She just can't decide which she wants to be; dark, light, or a balance of the two. Plagued by gods left and right, she is trying her best to save the innocent without losing herself in the process.

I love the way J.L. Murray develops Frankie. She's very relatable with her wall of sarcasm as she tries to determine who, exactly, she is. I think we can all understand that. I love this series and am definitely going to have to find more J.L Murray books to devour.

Phenomenal follow through!

I am so glad I stumbled onto these books and this author.
These books definitely left me rooting for the good guys or were they the bad guys, huh? Who cares?! The characters are amazing and the details are succinct and rich.
Still going with Not Family friendly and private shelf but that’s just my opinion!

Book 2

OMG. I can't believe that I'm finished. There isn't a book 3. I love, love this author. These books were recommended to me. I usually don't read this kind of story. It's absolutely fantastic. I'm looking forward to more from this author. I highly recommend.

Trying To Find The Truth Through The Lies

•••NOT for the homophobic, transphobic, closedminded, or faint of heart!•••

This series must be read in order. The first book is Monsterous. This is the second book. I can't wait for the next one!!!

Frankie Mourning has been having a rough year... First she died by lethal injection, only to wake up in some other world on a Crossroads being told she now must kill *The Blood Of Cain* for his brother Abel, and then waking up in a morgue once she agreed... Post autopsy.... Just eww. That was so many types of wrong! Now, fresh from dying, yet again, the Wraiths are telling her she must kill Thomas Dekker!? That's so not happening! Instead she decides to save him by leaving and continue on her merry way killing vile killers with the *Blood Of Cain* and hoping one of them will kill her so she can have a nice little chat with her psychotic *boss*... Except the creep she chose? He has a daughter... That he victimizes... And Frankie just can't lever her with him! What's a girl to do? Obviously she is conflicted. Can she find a way to do what is asked of her without losing herself? Why does Abel want the one person she loves in the whole entire world dead? And how can he possibly think he can make her comply? Why do the Gods think she is some specialty to be fought over? Can she ever figure out what is really going on? How can she win the game and end it for good? What does Lillith want from her? Why can't she just be free?

Loved it!

Since this is Book 2 in the "Blood of Cain" series I strongly recommend that you read Book 1 first. There are many characters in this series and so many twists and turns you will be lost if you read this first. That being said I absolutely loved this series. Well written, totally sucks you in to the story and holds you till the very end! I hope you will read the series and I know you won't be disappointed !!!! I have one question however, why did the sisters name change in book 2???? Did anyone else see this?
