Everybody’s working it, grinding away at the nine to five, when all we really want to do is escape to take a hot tumble on the boss’s desk. Let this sexy collection whisk you away from the office and into sixteen stories that explore sex in the working world. Wink at that sexy security guard, get revved up for a conference tryst and let love break down the language barrier with a new co-worker. Will you succumb to the casual charm of your new client, tip over the edge for your warehouse trainee, or get a long-thought of revenge on the supervisor making your life hell? White collar. Blue collar. It doesn’t matter what collar you’re wearing once the shirts come off. Leave the office behind with Working It.
Authors AJ Fyler, CM Peters, Jean Roberta, KP, Sonni de Soto, Cyn Heaven, M. Marie, Annabeth Leong, Harley Easton, Sienna Saint-Cyr, Cela Winter, Terri Ley, Rebecca Chase, Heather Day, James S. Davie, Jordan Monroe.
If your idea of a workplace fling involves secretaries in short skirts, executives in power suits, and interns in the copy room, be prepared to have your horizons broadened. Working It may come with the tagline "Office meetings will never be the same," but it goes far beyond that. Harley Easton & CM Peters have collected sexy stories that are both blue collar and white, that span hotels, recording studios, restaurants, and (yes) office buildings.
While it is a solid collection, I would like to focus on those that are a tad different.
Overtime by Sonni de Soto tells the tale of a businesswoman (who writes erotica on the side), her husband (who is also her Dom), and her prudish boss (who has seen her boudoir photos). Sometimes love is the best revenge.
The Words We Share by Annabeth Leong is a powerful, deeply thoughtful tale of a veteran with PSD who connects with a Syrian immigrant. Here we have two women who bring back dark memories for one another, but who bond through that shared pain.
Nine Lives by Harley Easton is a story that I expected to be a lot edgier, relying as it does on a legacy of tattoos, but it was actually very sweet and passionate.
Best of Both Worlds by Terri Ley is, not surprisingly, my favorite story in the collection, with a cis-gender woman who does not realize just how close her perfect pre-op transsexual lover really is. It is a story that, in the wrong hands, could veer dangerously into fetishizing gender, but which works because of their already established friendship.
Sure Thing, Boss by James S. Davie was a delightful surprise, with a bisexual husband, a polyamorous marriage, and a clever wife who pushes him into the arms of the hot young man who works for him. It was fun, kinky, and so clever.
There is usually a few stories in these collections that do not work for me, but I genuinely enjoyed Working It from start to finish. Definitely recommended . . . and perfect (if NSFW) workplace reading.
These were all super polished and well written. I've read a fair amount of anthologies and short stories, but given how good this set was, these stories left the last few steamy anthologies I've read for dust.
My favourite moments:
I got a great sense of self and strong research in all of these that made them that much better to read. Sometimes for short stories, I've found authors don't put enough into the character- I don't believe them in that job or position (like archeologists who know nothing about preservation techniques, etc.) This didn't happen in this anthology! I think the setup in this set was great; had enough lead-up to establish characters quickly and satisfied happy endings!!
A true pleasure to get a chance to read creative, original works that really hit home!
I received an early copy of this work for beta reading in exchange for a review.
First, I want to say that I'm honored and thrilled to have a story included in this collection! "Less Than Professional" was a ton of fun for me to write, and I hope that readers will have fun reading it.
Particularly at this moment, it came seem a bit raw to write about sex and the workplace. This collection, I'm delighted to say, puts an emphasis on enthusiastic consent between happy people. It's fun, it's beautiful, and it's sexy as hell.
It’s been a while since I have read anything from this genre but when I was approached by one of the authors (who I have read before) I was quite happy to take a look. This is an anthology, sixteen stories all very different. The thing I like most about books like this is you can read one or more stories at a time depending on time, mood, circumstances and then just as easily pick it up again a few days later.
While I read the whole book I have picked my top three favourites, they appealed to me most based on content and writing style. The whole book is very well put together and each author has produced a valid story. So often with this type of book it can feel rushed or mass produced purely to gain sales. Working It has an aura of care and pride about it.
I’m not going to delve into the details because with a short story you want to be able to get the whole experience from scratch. There is a lot included in each one and showcases the skill of the writers’ ability to condense it all into a quick read.
Who’s Boss Here by Cyn Heaven Hard working construction guys who just happen to be ultra hunky (always a bonus!) and a young lady who is every bit as feisty and can stand her ground.
Maintaining The Fence Line by M.Marie Rugged ranch hands, snowy scene, things hot up enough to make the snow melt!
Nine Live by Harley Easton Poignant reunion between old friends always linked together by ink. A great mix of passion and reawakening.
I received an ARC which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
