More than the words he spoke or the sermons he preached, Joseph Smith taught us how to live by his example. In this one-of-a-kind book, you'll find stories about the Prophet that illustrate character traits like obedience, courage, and faith. Then you'll learn to apply those traits to your everyday life. Practical and entertaining, this is a great book for youth and adults!
I'm an avid skier and snowboarder and a former member of the National Ski Patrol. I take long mountain-bike rides with my dog every morning (except in the winter, when we cross-country ski), and then spend the next couple of hours on my farm writing and editing my books. (No office . . . I usually just sit on the tailgate of my truck.) I am a licensed pilot, a certified scuba diver, and an Advanced EMT.
I am not the target audience for this book being neither LDS nor a teen. However, I found the book to be thoughtful and well written. I think this book will appeal to some LDS teens who are already very thoughtful about their religion, but I don't think it's engaging enough to draw in those who aren't already of the the mindset that the book is trying to encourage. Some of the activities suggested also seem a little childish, which some older teens might find off-putting. That said, it's a solid effort overall.
Well, this was a high-energy little book. I enjoyed it and it should be appealing to the kids. It appears to be aimed at teens; IMO it's a little TOO short and easy, maybe more of a "tween" type of book. Not terribly deep, but fun and, in spots, quite meaningful as well. Although as a 40something I did find some of the quiz and other graphic type things a little distracting.
