In the spirit of Snoopy and Charlie Brown, or Calvin and Hobbes, Dog eat Doug is the cartooning creation of Brian Anderson that follows the daily exploits of Sophie, a cheese-loving chocolate Lab with a nose for the nuances of sarcasm and irony, and baby Doug, a healthy, happy newborn with no concept of jealousy and a limitless curiosity.
Together, this dynamic duo adjusts to sharing the spotlight, the toys, and the affections of Mom and Dad, while exploring nature and its majesty, the couch and its cushions, and the cookie jar and its contents.
Brian Anderson is the creator of the upcoming graphic novels and animated series “Sophie”, based on his syndicated comic, “Dog eat Doug”.
He is also the author of The Conjurers trilogy (Rise of the Shadow, Hunt for the Lost, and Fight of the Fallen) as well as the picture books Nighty Night, Sleepy Sleeps; The Prince’s New Pet; and Monster Chefs. He lives in North Carolina with his family, which includes a herd of rescued dogs and cats.
Dog eat Doug: Last one alive gets the Cookie! by Brian Anderson is book eight in the series. I enjoy this series better than Calvin and Hobbes! In these later books, Doug and Sophie also have two cats living with them which takes the humor up a few notches! Never boring and guaranteed to give me a smile and a few giggles!
This is the 8th book of the "Dog eat Doug" comic that shows up in newspapers. Since I have discovered this neat and cute comic it's been an amazing bit of pet humor, baby humor, and pop culture references of the sci-first variety. As with most of these sort of collections, they only last a year and this one starts off bear the end of 2013 and go until middle of 2014. No major story arcs unless you count a week of holiday theme bits. The main character is a Labrador retriever named Sophie and her adventures in a family. The supporting characters are her boy Doug a baby in that sort of walking, but for sure crawling stage and only able to shout out in weird sounds. A pair of cats who are weird to everyone and maybe smarter than they look, a lake monster and random animals in the forest around the house. Oh and the mom and dad. Of whom we don't ever see the adults faces and really see them more off camera than on. I love these and consider them on par with Calvin and Hobbes or Peanuts or Pearls with the wit and successful use of the weirdness that happens around the Dog. Give it whirl and you just might be surprised in saying more often, "that's my dog/cat/kid/combo" in reading some of these.
What else do you need in life? A great and funny comic book. Right up there with my ball time favorite.....Calvin and Hobbs. This will keep you laughing page after page. So what are you waiting for get your copy today. The enjoy giggling, and laughing your way through the funny antics of the dog,cat baby daly lives.
Cute and funny comics about a dog and a baby. It’s a riot to see who can outsmart who. But now Sophie, the dog, has to deal with cats in the house. Great. That Sophie reminds me of Snoopy sometimes. The art work is great. The panels are fun to read. Another great one!
