Welcome to the witchy town of Cat's Cradle, where curses are almost as troublesome as family.
When lifelong bachelorette Aunt Tilly returns to town with a fiancé she’s only known for two weeks, the rest of the Norwood family sense foul play. Has their eccentric aunt fallen prey to a love spell and-if so- for what reason?
Meanwhile, Malady is still coming to grips with what she saw in her dream and what that might mean for her future with Daniel Price.
When the body of one of Daniel’s old college buddies turns up at Cat’s Cradle’s annual Under the Stars Charity Ball, it’s up to Daniel and Suzie Q herself to get to the bottom of it and figure out how this is all connected to Aunt Tilly’s mysterious new beau.
So, pull up a seat, settle in, and get Cursed on the Second Date!
This is a pretty good book. There is some character development which is filling out the series better than the average cozy. The backstory of the cursed family keeps things unexpected and lively and the murder mystery plotline has lots of surprising twists and turns.
There are, however, some editing issues in this book, largely typos such as gleaming for gleaning, deiced for decided and an occasional word left out of a sentence. It's not frequent but is noticeable. I mean friended chicken? Surely she meant fried. Please folks let's stop using a spellchecker as the last edit; the human eye of an English savvy friend has got to be much better. (If you don't have a friend like that, I'm volunteering to do it for free for any writer who asks!)
Nevertheless, I did enjoy the book and find the series well worth reading.
Malady and the rest of the Norwood's are back and they are just as funny as the first book. Of course a murder happens during a town party and Malady and Daniel are on case. Add in some Norwood family drama and I just laughed through the book. I thought it was a blast to read. Once I started it i read it all the way through in one sitting to see who the murderer was and if Aunt Tilly would end up married to Earl. Just a fun cozy mystery which keeps surprising me just enough with the dribbles of Norwood information that comes out. I just like this series and can't wait to see what happens next.
Malady is a witch with a curse, anytime she is happy, something bad happens to someone she knows. But she is determined to solve the mystery of her Aunt Tilly's new fiancé, he just seems "off" to the Norwood witch family. On top of that, she has dreamed of the man who could end her curse. The problem is, he irritates her immensely! Well written, great plot and characters! I received a complimentary copy of this book, and love to share my honest reviews!
I love this quirky, witchy family. Great story with some more questions about their future that I hope will be answered in the next book! Probably not all of them will be there, but I will be reading the next one in this series!
