When I was eighteen, I stood at the precipice of stardom. I had the record deal. And the tour to back it up. But I succumbed to the pressure of that life. The dark side.

Now, I skate on the fringe. My brother is the genius guitarist for the band Caged, and I’m the one who helped make that happen. I’m happy to run my bars and my land development company.

Sure I am.

And then I meet her—Taryn Ayers—the music manager behind the three biggest bands in the country. She doesn’t know I’m Cam’s older brother. Or that I’ve got a secret that makes her world and mine fundamentally incompatible.
Problem is, I want to know Taryn.

But do I want her to know me?

lost for you jayne frost

Soul Bound
Hope Drowned
Redemption Found

Lost For You is book four in the Sixth Street Bands series by Jayne Frost. Jayne is a new to me author. I have not previously read any of the books in this series. I want to admit up front that in the beginning of this book, I did feel a bit overwhelmed with the secondary characters. I found myself re-reading parts to try to keep it straight who was who and what their relationships were to each other. This may have been avoided had I read the previous books. BUT…at some point, none of it mattered any longer. My sole focus was on the two main characters. They had my complete attention and my heart. This was such a heart breaking, beautifully told story.

lost for you jayne frost

Chase Noble is the most successful land developer in the state of Texas, owner of two music venues and a handful of buildings and restaurants. Is this where he thought he would be ten years ago? No. He had the makings of a hot new music star. He had the ability to both write and play music. He also had a weakness for drugs, and that is what won out. After a long stint in rehab, he’s been clean for over ten years. He’s happy to leave the rock star business to his younger brother, Cameron and just run his two bars and other businesses. But then he sees her. He looks into those eyes and he can’t look away.

Fender Strat

Five years ago Taryn Ayers lost two of her best friends in a terrible accident. Her life hasn’t been the same since. Taryn, along with her best friend Tori Grayson, runs Twin Souls, a premier music management company. Taryn had been together with her childhood sweetheart, Beckett, since they were kids. He was supposed to be her forever. But after the accident, Beckett cheated, repeatedly. Now, with tabloid accounts of his activities in her face, she’s done. But he’s been in her life forever. She can’t just walk away from him. But as far as being an actual couple, that part is over.

When she first meets Chase, she wants no part of him. But his persistence pays off and she gives in. The chemistry between these two is crazy hot. Chase proposes a friends with benefits type of relationship. But can Taryn do that, have a casual fling? Or will she eventually need more? And what about Beckett? How will the bond they still share figure into all of this?

“You’re the smooth surface to all my jagged edges.”

animated reflections | , Reflection, Reflections, Animated Gif, Animated Gifs, Animated ...

As Taryn still struggles with her grief and her lingering ties to Beckett, Chase finds himself battling his own demons. At the same time, he is trying to help his brother’s bandmate, Logan’s little sister get clean. But somehow these two keep finding their way back to each other.

lost for you jayne frost

As I said above, these two had my heart, and they broke my heart. There were trust issues, addiction issues, business issues, friend issues, and a whole host of things that tried to keep these two apart. My jaw hit the ground at one particular part. I can’t believe that it happened! The story was fast paced and beautifully told. I’m definitely not done with this author.

“I was lost and I was found and I was complete. And for the first time in my life, totally at peace.”

➦Awwwww, Chase, every time you say, "Hi, baby..." I melt...

➦And every time you say "Just one more taste..." well... won't be needing these anymore...

➦That's all I got.

➦What? You want constructive criticism? Ok, then. I'll just say this. My absolute favorite thing about Jayne's writing is the way she portrays her characters. They aren't just "good" or "bad," they are both, with traits that make them feel very real. Even if she describes a character that comes off as selfish or controlling, you can't help but relate and in some way understand where they are coming from. Those traits don't make them bad, they simply make them human.

➦And while "famous rockstar falls for a girl next door" trope will never cease to be my favorite, the non-cookie cutter themes in Jayne's last two books are the ones that will stay in my mind for a while. And that's what I love about books that don't just make you feel good. They pack a punch and they give you characters that grip your heart and stay with you.

➦And by all means, if you want a lighthearted rockstar read with a bunch of laughs, read the first two books in this series. Because Jayne can do those too. And now I will leave you with two words.

“You’re the smooth surface to all my jagged edges”

This has been such a wonderful surprise!! I’ve read reviews on the previous books in this series and couldn’t wait to read this. So getting an ARC for this book, I was giddy, yet nervous, after all its a new author to me!!

Seriously, what the heck was I even worried about. This book was simply amazing to me. I loved it!! The writing was fabulous, it sucked me in from the beginning. A book that holds me captive is a winner in my book world. Now with saying that, I will not lie. This book hurt too. I wanted to throw my kindle, I lost my finger nails. It’s angsty as hell. Up and down. Down and up. And it doesn’t stop until the end. Believe me, ask my kids, I couldn’t be interrupted.

I enjoyed the character development in this book. This author really puts you through getting to know these characters.
Chase Noble. You. Are. Stunning. Astounding. Breathtaking. And yes, you broke me a bit too. This man is strong and he is weak. Inside he is gentle and a bit broken but he’s addicted to one drug that rehab will not help him with.
On the outside, yeah, he’s umm, sigh....

Taryn Ayers. Strong, broken, business driven. I felt she relied a little to bit too much on business, yet at the same time, I think she fell back on her business to be her life as she had literally lost everything else in her life. Until one thing changed it all.... She is full of passion and love, waiting to give it to the right person.

If you enjoy broken rockstars and love, I can’t recommend this one enough. I will definitely be stalking Mrs. Frost for her next release in this series and can only keep my fingers crossed as to who it’ll be on and what she’ll do with them!!!!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻

4 stars!

description

Lost For You was my second book by Jayne Frost, and I can officially say, she has a knack for writing rock star romances. This book was steamy, emotional, and had a damaged hero and heroine who helped heal each other- my favorite kind of read!

Chase Noble was born to be in the limelight. He’s got the talent, but he also has a bad habit of drug abuse when he’s in that life, so he finds it best to stay behind the scenes and let his little brother, Cameron be the star. Taryn Ayers lost two of the most important people in her life. She hasn’t been the same since. When she first meets Chase, they are drawn to each other. She feels something she hasn’t felt in a long time. They both have a lot of issues between them, but you can’t fight a connection like they have…

This is the 4th book in Frost’s Sixth Street series, but all of them can be read as stand-alones. After reading books 3 and 4 I’ve gotta say, I’m dying for a Logan book! I hope his is next!!! I listened to the audio book and I enjoyed the narration. The quality was good, and I would recommend picking it up if you like to listen to your stories. Lost For You is a sexy rock star romance with just enough feels! I give it 4 stars.

➳Wow... My very first book by this author and I loved it way too much...

➳I am not a big fan of music romance, which is ironic because I love music and I basically listen to anything that is music every single day. However, with this novel, my perspective of rock-band-romances has changed for sure and I have to thank Jayne Frost for that since she has written a masterpiece of a love story.

➳I was warned about this novel being a standalone, and I even asked if I needed to read the previous books in the series to understand the present characters. I was told that it was not necessary, but I will be honest-I felt like I should have read the previous books. Some aspects of this story became unclear to me since characters from previous books were mentioned and what has been happening with them, and my confusion altered about maybe 75% reading through the novel. Questions were asked amongst the characters and also from myself, trying to identify what actually was going on. However, I was able to indulge in the mystery and the chemistry between Chase and Tyran....

➳MY GOD! These two are characters that I fell in love with instantly. It is a no brainer that Jayne knows how to properly write and describe good characters that have history, broken promises, broken attributes, and most importantly, hearts that need to be mended for the wholesome idea of finding a connection with an individual that can bring you happiness beyond many emotions that can be present.

➳The spark, the connection, the lust for Chase and Tyran is there for sure. One really cannot miss it and does not want to miss it either way. This is a love story filled with so much hope and recreations of a new start that one really gets captivated to the page on trying to acquire an understanding to fictional characters that have problems that can idealistic in the real world. Overall, I loved this novel so much. My connection and admiration towards the characters in this novel is by far, hands down one of the most unique and nicely put together. Thank you to Jayne for giving me chance at reading this novel, and thank you to Maria for recommending this beauty!

“Our eyes met, and for a moment I felt a connection so deep it took my breath away.”

One of the things I love most about reading and reviewing books are the never before read authors you discover. This is my first story by Jayne Frost and I really enjoyed it. I haven’t had the privilege of reading the other books in the Sixth Street Bands series as of yet, but rest assured I will correct that in the very near future. When you discover new authors it can sometimes be hit or miss, but not in this case. Jayne Frost can seriously write, with her carefully crafted plot lines and well developed characters, she sucked me in.

Our hero Chase, is dark, broken and real. He’s been to hell and back, but lives to tell his story, which is no easy feat by any means. He’s fragile, but then I felt him to be so strong on the other hand and when you’ve moved to the dark side it is so hard to come out the other end and finally find the light at the end of a dark tunnel.

“Pain had been my constant companion for five years. An unwelcome guest. And I didn’t feel it as acutely when I was with Chase. But I couldn’t tell him that. That probably crossed some kind of friendship boundary.”

Taryn is strong, so strong. I can’t even imagine going through what this woman has gone through and come out the other side unscathed; the strength it must take to get through your worst nightmare and have the ability to pick yourself up and carry on is simply unfathomable to me.

Lost for You is, after all said and done, a rockstar romance and we all know rockstars live by the creed of sex, drugs and rock n roll. The struggles with drugs and addiction felt so real, I read it feeling waves of depression, but then enlightenment as well, a real roller coaster. Addiction is a really dark cloud that hangs over the head of many a rockstar, especially so during the prime of their careers. This story was raw, gritty, real and I felt every emotion.

“I brushed a lock of hair out of his eyes, and when he smiled, I knew – he was going to kill me. Break my heart and leave it in a million pieces when this all faded away.”

It was not all doom and gloom, though I do love my emotional reads, so sometimes I can focus on that aspect. However, there were also hot, sexy and steamy scenes to help balance out the emotion, which had me hoping this couple would rise above the hurt and pain of their past and find their HEA.

I really enjoyed this story and it kept me invested from the start as I absorbed all the pain, heartbreak, emotion and love. If you adore your angsty, friends-to-lovers rockstar romances then I suggest you check this one out, you won’t be sorry.

descriptionThis review will likely be all over the place and not make a lot of sense. This book was angst on steroids and depressing as hell. I did not enjoy it one bit. None of the characters were particularly likable and even by the end I didn't care if any of them got an HEA or not. BUT at the same time I found myself consumed with the story and desperately turning the pages. So clearly I have a bit of a conundrum here...

description

The writing was fantastic. The pace was fantastic. I was never bored or felt the need to skim. The plot was engaging and like I mentioned above had me turning the pages. It wasn't a happy-go-lucky read though. It was raw. It was dark. It was real. It was depressing. I guess there was redemption and hope to be found near the end, but for me the heaviness of the plot that comprises most of the book just overshadowed everything. Like I said above, this one was full on angst and drama. There really wasn't any OW drama but there was definite OM drama. There was a good cast of secondary characters and Taryn and Chase were OK. I just found none of them particularly likable. I found Taryn to be extremely annoying. The way she strung Beckett along. Yes, she repeatedly told him it was over in words, but her actions said anything but that. Chase was OK. I mean there wasn't anything wrong with him but I just never felt a "love" connection between him and Taryn. Hot sex, yes, but a soul deep connection...NOPE. I felt that more between Taryn and Beckett and their shared history and love. And don't even get me started on Tori. Chick was a grade A bitch and I have a bad feeling we will be treated to a love triangle with her and Logan and Dylan.

description

So yea, as you can see from what I have written above I struggled with this one. There wasn't much I liked about it. Not the plot. Not the characters. The ending felt rushed. But I have to also admit that the author hooked me from the first page. My stomach was in knots. I was cursing. I needed to know how this was all going to play out. I just COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN. Right now I am vacillating between 3-Stars or 4-Stars for this one. I think I will go with 3.5 for now with an option to change that upon further reflection.description

Lost for You is a sexy rockstar romance with angst, real characters, and a story of new chances. It's about two characters who are in their own limbos trying to get out and start again. The chemistry between them is palpable from the very start, but it's going to be a bumpy ride. Before we go on, if you're interested in reading this, I'd recommend reading the first three books before this. I think you'll appreciate and understand the story more that way.

I have to be honest and say I'm in the same boat as Cristina at CristiinaReads that while this book is promoted as a standalone, I felt lost almost throughout the story. There were things that happened to the characters prior to Lost for You that I think was crucial for me to know. Don't get me wrong, it was still an enjoyable read, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I read the first three.

The story has well-formed characters, who, while they look like they're doing great and they've got it going on, are battling their own demons. It's not just Chase Noble with his longstanding battle with drugs and alcohol and Taryn Ayers with the effects of a tragic event, it's the side characters directly related to them, too. It makes for an interesting few hours, and even if I was confused at times, I certainly never got bored.

I felt the pain, the temptation, the struggles, but I also felt the moments between Chase and Taryn. The connection was there right from the start, and sparks were flying.

Lost for You was my first Jayne Frost read, and I'm happy I got the chance to read this. The writing style was entertaining, the story even more so, and it pleased the rockstar romance lover in me. So, I'd say this was a win. I'm definitely reading the other books in the series, because hello, who can resist? If you're looking for a sexy read with angst, music, steam, and second chances, you'll enjoy Lost for You.

Thank you to Maria at Steamy Reads and Jayne Frost for giving me the chance to read this!

This was the perfect book to read to get rid of the taste from the latest bad book I read. In all honesty I like my rock star books a bit less sombre and more cheeky but boy, did I gobble this all up and wanted more.

The writing was truly exceptional. And I'll tell you why, because even though this is my first book from this author I felt like I was reunited with an old friend. Sometimes when you read a new author you need a few pages, sometimes chapters, to get into their rhythm or style. Not here. I got sucked in the book with the first few words like I've been reading Jayne Frost all my life. She pulled me in and hooked me good and I couldn't stop until I read it all. And I did. At work,while working, during my lunch, during dinner, during every single spare moment I had.

Since I came to this party late (shame on me), I don't know if there are any mentions of Taryn and her past in the previous books. Or any mentions of Chase. I'm sure there's probably some but in any case this can easily be read as a standalone.

description

The book centers around Taryn Ayers and Chase Noble. Two very complex souls trying to simply live and survive. Chase is a successful land developer with properties all over the place. But he also has a passion for music. One that completely derailed his life. Because as talented as he is in music, he is just as ill-equipped to handle what comes with it. Losing himself in drugs early on, he decides to quit his budding and successful music career in order to save his life. He goes through rehab and then rebuilds his life in a different direction, putting his old life and demons behind. All that comes to a head the minute he meets Taryn. Chase realises that his demons are alive and well and kicking his ten year sobriety out the window.

description

"A chaste kiss to her lips, and then I moved down and down until my face was buried in the crook of her neck. Rain. She smelled like the rain.
"Just a taste", I murmured. And when she arched, pressing those perfect tits against me, I stepped inside with her in my arms. Into the storm."

Taryn Ayers is a woman mired in grief. She lost two of her best friends in bus accident. A bus she was supposed to be on. Five years on and she's still trying to come to terms with it. Taryn and her best friend Tori Grayson and the only one of her friends to survive the accident, run a music management company, Twin Souls. Her whole identity and life are entrenched in the company and her childhood friends Tori, Dylan and Beckett. To such an extent that they expect her to drop everything and fix their lives and mistakes. Her relationship with Beckett is even more complicated as they had been childhood sweethearts. Following the accident Beckett cheated again and again while Taryn was still too numb from grief and worry over Tori. At first she ignores it but when it becomes too much she ends things. Though Beckett, even five years on, continues to behave like they are still together while he's with other women. Romantically they maybe be over but their lives are so enmeshed that Taryn can't break out.

"One more taste." It wasn't a question. More like a vow.

description

This book dealt with drug abuse, backsliding, guilt, relationships that have outgrown and ultimately two people that fell in love despite of it all. And I loved it! Usually I prefer more lighthearted books but Jayne Frost managed to captivate me and keep me engaged throughout.

"You wear the summer in soft blue eyes.
A bittersweet sky, tainted with lies.
Let me end your season of pain.
Dry the tears that fall like rain."

Prior to reading

My very next read.

Lost For You is only my second book by this author but I'm really enjoying her writing style. She was able to get me very invested into these characters, and not once did I get bored with them. I could feel the connection between Chase and and Taryn easily and it had me rooting for them to get together for more than just a night.

I can't say that their relationship was easy, because it certainly had some low points, but those high ones came and made it all better. I just loved that they had so much pushing them apart, yet they were able to fight through those issues. Both characters had some big turning points in their personal life and I really liked that we got to see how they grew from those moments and I thought their character development was very well done.

Really the only thing that, for me, was a negative part of this book was Chase's drug addiction. I don't like reading about characters that do drugs so that was kind of hard for me to get past. The ending of the book though gave me some closure on that issue. Overall, definitely a book I would recommend to my fellow readers. It can certainly be read as a standalone, unless you're someone that gets too curious about secondary characters that have already had their story being mentioned.

I was asked if I wanted to review an ARC for this one..... Its a rockstar romance...so dumb question really :P It's one of my favorite genres !!

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor yes I would love to gif

Now I have never read anything by this author before, so this book can be read as a stand alone....though I think it would be more enjoyable, if you read the other books in this series first. I could follow along, but there were also some times I struggled a bit.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor this confuses me gif

Taryn and Chase are both quite the broken characters... They have been through hell and back and they did not come out unscathed. They also have their own ways of dealing with their past....

These two meet and they share and instant connection. Pretty soon they can't deny the chemistry between them anymore and they start getting lost in each other.

17377007.gif (500×269)

Demon's won't keep quiet though and their relationship has quite the bumpy ride....

Will they be able to overcome the past and their demons......

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor fighting my demons gif

If you are looking for rainbows and flowers, you should skip this one. It's raw, emotional and angsty.... and it really frustrated the crap out of me at times.

I also loved Chase more than I did Taryn...though this is not surprising to me, because it takes a very special heroine to win my heart over. I just wasn't a big fan of the whole Taryn and Beckett deal.

RATING: 4-4.5 Love & Music Hearts!

description

Our lives were like that damn river. Always flowing in one direction, leading to the same spot.

Lost For You is a beautiful read full of heartache for two individuals who are struggling with personal demons, complete with a sweet romance to ensure we’re emotionally invested in our couple’s happiness.

“Maybe it’s better to have a short life filled with great things than a long life full of unfulfilled promises.”

Taryn is a young woman struggling to cope with the tragic accident that took her friends’ lives, and we can’t help but sympathize, feeling the grief with her every step of the way. Despite the bruises and scars that mar her heart, she keeps her head held high and puts on a brave face for those she loves. We are granted moments with her where her strength finally wanes and the tears flow, and it’s these moments that are the hardest to bear because her pain is raw and palpable, grasping our hearts in a vise-like grip with its phantom fingers.

I want you to thrive. But if you ever, ever, get lost, I’ll be here. Because I love you. That’s the truth, and I own it.

Chase is the quintessential sweet hero, easily stealing our hearts, as he does Taryn’s, with a charming grin here and a sexy remark there. He’s been sober for eleven years, and despite it being early in the story, we can’t help but feel incredibly proud of his accomplishment. As the story progresses however, our content feelings morph into frustration and damning horror as we watch Chase relapse, abandoning years of sobriety in favour of alcohol and drugs. His interludes with an equally tormented Taryn are a beautiful kind of torture, the love the two of them share poignant and enviable, tiny pin pricks of light in a vast sea of darkness.

“Tomorrow’s not promised, baby. It’s a gift...If you want me to wrap it up in a bow and give it to you...I will. All my tomorrows.”

What makes this story so emotionally rich, and Chase and Taryn’s characters so complex, is the realism behind their trials and tribulations, Ms. Frost painfully reminding us that life—even in fiction—is rarely fair. Overall, Lost For You is a wonderful story about second chances, love, and hope, and I am beyond excited to read more from Ms. Frost.

Book Excerpt:

At the subtle shift in energy, I pulled Taryn to my side. She kept her head down as I spun us toward the main floor. When we emerged on the other side of the bar, I ushered her through the door marked No Admittance and into the hallway that led to my loft.

“I shouldn’t have come,” she said, her breath uneven. “Do you have a back entrance?”

I rounded on her, and when I caught sight of those eyes, impossibly large as she blinked up at me, I couldn’t help myself.

My mouth crashed into hers, my tongue demanding entry as I maneuvered her against the wall. Her lips parted on a gasp. But then her hands were in my hair, and it was all hot breath and soft moans. And fuck, the taste. Like strawberries fresh from the vine.

“Fuck, you’re sweet.” My palms glided up her sides, inching towards her breasts. “I knew you’d be sweet.”

Her little pants warmed the hollow of my neck. “So are you.”

I stroked her jaw with the pad of my thumb, and even in the dim light, I saw the flush color her cheeks.

“One more taste.”

It wasn’t a question. More like a vow. One more taste and I’d peel her off the wall. One more taste and we’d go get that drink I’d promised. One more taste and I’d be able to control myself.

This was my first book by this author and I m glad I ventured onto this journey even though this book is a part of a larger series, it can be read as a standalone.

This is a story of a second chance love between two people who met at the turmolous time in each of their lives. They are both troubled with the heavy and scarring events that happened in the recent past and each of them is trying to cope in a different way, some of them being not so favorable as it only hightens their weaknesses driving one of them into an addiction.

The chemistry they both feel is strong enough for them to enter a passionate affair and it s one of the links they both hold onto when they encounter each other in the same field of business-music industry.

But unfortunatelly the physical chemistry can stand the pressure for a short time...and when feelings start to appear, the past also rears its ugly head and they both have to deal with painful memories, unresolved issues, and their current state...will they be wise and strong enough to embrace it?

The time, this time, is on their side...yes, it is. *wink*

I liked the writing, I liked the pacing and the angsty parts that build up the tension but I found the 'emotional link' between the main characters missing and i just didnt pick up that 'change' from the physical carnal passion to the love part, unfortunately.

But since that can be purely on my account, it should be considered as merely an info of a 'feeling' *wink* and not as a blunt statement of a fact as that little bit might work for you just fine!

READ MY REVIEW ON THE BLOG

When I listened to Missing From Me by Jayne Frost I knew I was on to something. With Lost For You this author has established herself as an auto-read for me. Her storytelling has an easy, effortless flow, an easy rhythm that is so super-easy to get into.

I think the allure of Rockstar Romances, at least to me, is that the demigods we think they are, are being portrayed in an entirely human light. They have their fears and sorrows when you strip away their fame. It's just that more people are watching their struggles. Anyhoo, I digress.

Chase is the brother of a rockstar. He had his chance at fame and the limelight but found, with the way he is wired, he isn't built for the business. He loves music and his talent even exceeds his little brother's but his drug abuse in those earlier years is still making sure that his demons keep him on his toes. He finds it easier to deal with his addiction when he stays out of the spotlight. When he meets Tarryn Ayers, one of the most successful managers in the business, he doesn't know how much of a challenge his demons will put him up to.

Tarryn Ayers has her own monsters to battle. Two of her childhood friends and members of one of the most successful bands in the country died in an accident and left her and her best friend Tori Grayson reeling for years to come. Add to that her ex, whose sexual escapades make headlines on a regular basis and she's just about had enough. When Chase invites her to his bar for a drink she has every intention to keep it casual, Beckett's betrayal still hurts too much.
I brushed a lock of hair out of his eyes, and when he smiled, I knew – he was going to kill me. Break my heart and leave it in a million pieces when this all faded away.

Tarryn is a dichotomoy of strong and vulnerable - she's a tough business woman, proud and strong, but filled with so much sorrow. When her veneer slips we see how deeply the grief still controls many of her actions. You can't help but feel compassion and admiration for Tarryn.

From Chase's charming, straight forward and sweet demeanor you wouldn't guess at the struggles he is dealing with every single day. He hides it really well but when things get a little too overwhelming for this tough business man and he's exposed to the one temptation that he knows he has to fight he's helpless. I found myself shouting "no" and don't do it" a couple of times. My heart broke for Chase who'd gone so long without drugs and when he clawed his way back to the light I felt nothing but pride for him.

From the moment they meet the connection between Tarryn and Chase is palpable. There is always a sense of dread hanging over them and it hurts when they fall apart. But fear not, this is romance so we get a really sweet Happily Ever After. Chase's making amends, giving Tarryn what she needed made me love him even more.
"I want you to thrive. But if you ever, ever, get lost, I’ll be here. Because I love you. That’s the truth, and I own it."

I loved that Jayne Frost didn't shy away from showing her readers the ugly side of drug usage - she still does it in taste and gently and not for shock value.

Jayne Frost is becoming a solid bet on 4-5 star books so I'll keep putting my money on her. Next up is Logan, who I've had very ambivalent feelings toward. This is the second time he rubbed me the wrong way yet came through in the end so I am excited to see what he's really like.
“Tomorrow’s not promised, baby. It’s a gift...If you want me to wrap it up in a bow and give it to you...I will. All my tomorrows.”

FOR GOODREADS

lost for you

Title: Lost For You (Sixth Street Band #4)
Author: Jayne Frost
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publication Date: January 12 ,2018

This is my second Jayne Frost book (Review of #3) and I'm going to warn you from now, this review may be slightly ranty.

I had hoped that this book would turn me into a Jayne Frost convert but no. This book left me utterly confused and annoyed as well. I din't like the first half of the storyline not that the second half was any better. The characters, don't even get me started on the them... especially Taryn Ayers. That woman annoyed the shit out of me.... she strung Chase around like a puppet. I don't care how successful of a business woman you are, grow a heart woman! I give her props for rising through the ashes of her past..but shouldn't that make her more empathetic and understanding?

Chase is the only saving grace for me. But then again, I didn't really connect with either of the characters... but having said that, Chase is what made me continue to read this book. I don't know what it was but his struggle and ... I don't know... kindness and gentleness was heartwarming. I admit his dark depression of addiction was addictive to read and as readers you couldn't help but see where it'd go... hoping that he'll pass through it and also hoping that the ice queen Taryn would stop being so self centered and look around her and help him.

So, that being said, I finished the damn book. hahaha. I liked the book but hey! you might just love it!

4.5 The Real Deal Shown Stars
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
We all have read a lot of Rock Star books with all types of themes happening... the groupies the Hero fights off to remain true to his Woman... or the Manager who deals Dirty and sells out the Group or the Surprise Star who takes off on the charts and becomes the next big thing learning how to handle it all. All of them have serious merit and have entertained us... Me one of them.

What I found to be very special in this read was the authenticity in the perils of the industry... how things can bring out parts of ourselves... that maybe the people never knew would happen. Tragedies happen and it is how we process them which can make or break us. Stress and being thrust into tempting situations can cause us to take a road which will alter our journeys... making them so much more challenging then ever before...

In Lost For You by Jayne Frost all of these real life occurrences are front and center with a strong relationship based story to captivate and identify with...for All of us have had to deal with some type of emotional challenges during our lives.

Our two main characters are carrying heavy pain...Each having their own ways of dealing with it. Because the troupe is the Rock Music Industry, finances have no bearing... as each character is well off. All of the angst is emotional and holding onto guilt.

What I found the most compelling was how real each of the emotional needs were expressed... there was the clinging to the past... of what could have been and the way certain characters could not let go... and realize those no longer with us can live through the character's own living and being happy now...We carry those gone in our hearts... and honor them through our actions every day...

The other important and truly telling part of this tale was the open and authentic feel it dealt with addiction...This was a clear and direct look at how it can take over and you are Never Allowed to forget the need to respect the addiction and work your program... whatever it may be.

This is a love story about so much...and I felt it all. I hadn't read any of the other books and Jayne Frost was a new to me author... She is immensely talented and I will look for her other works.

~~~~~ Before Reading ~~~~~
At Sometime We All Adult, Right...
We make sacrifices convinced this is the path ...
The way to be who we need to be...
But are we truly happy making those decisions...
What if you meet the Woman who makes you wonder...
Who is everything you know you shouldn't want...
But Oh, You So Do....
Does it make you question everything...
Because let's face it...
He's become...
Well, what a Trainwreck it was!!!
They call guilty pleasure?? Trainwreck story? I don't know... But I couldn't put it down!!!
A lot of triggers: lost friends in car crash, drug dependence, rehabilitation,... Groupies, ex ONS, little bf sisters... ex-bf who's "supporting"....
I liked the author's style a lot, and those twists...
Safety: no cheating, although ex-bf tried kissing with the heroine.
The hero was a manho before, he did think about Taryn like ONS, disposable one.. I didn't like it at all... But after first taste of her, all he could think was her ...
A lot of push-pull from both of them. Long separation. Celibate both. Not virgins.
3.5 Stars
I finished this book almost a week ago and I still have no idea how to properly convey my thoughts. My emotions ran the gamut from the very first word I read until the very last page. Rather than try and assimilate my thoughts into something folks can comprehend, I’m just going to lay it all out and see what happens. Here goes nothing.
Things I loved:
• Jayne Frost can write! I know that sounds like an obvious enough statement but the more time I spend reading, the more I appreciate authors who can make a story that may be tough to tell, entertaining.
• This is the least formulaic book I’ve read in a while. I’m used to romances following a tried and true formula of mutual attraction, hookup at 50%, followed by a previously foreseen conflict that eventually makes way for a happily ever after. If that’s what you’re looking for, this aint the book for you. The characters are up, down, and all over the place. We get the sexy stuff beginning fairly early in the story and I love that fact that even those scenes aren’t cookie cutter and formulaic.
• Did I mention this woman can write?
Things that didn’t quite work for me:
• When I started reading Lost for You I knew I was coming into the middle of a series but was also advised I could jump right in and read it as a standalone. Though the writing is superb, I had a difficult time keeping up with the story. From the beginning we’re introduced to SO MANY characters that are part of Chase and Taryn’s individual histories. Some of these characters play a larger role in the story and some are merely mentioned in passing, but I felt as if I should already know who they were and how they related to the characters in this story. The fact I had no clue who these folks were and was expected to keep them and their individual histories straight was a little much for me. At 40% I was still scratching my head most of the time and thinking “WTF?”
My character confusion and my struggle to keep everything straight has me wanting to rate this book three stars, but the writing style itself has me leaning towards four stars. For now I’m bumping it up to a four star rating simply because I feel like my issues with this book are probably mine and mine alone. I can say with certainty, though, that this will not be my last Jayne Frost book.
Lost For You is a welcome addition to Jayne Frost’s Sixth Street Bands rock star romance series.
In this story Chase Noble, land developer mogul, bar owner, brother to famous guitarist and almost rock star himself gets addicted to music manager Taryn Ayers. Taryn knows Chase’s brother Cam because she’s looking to sign his band with her company, but she doesn’t know the connection between the two nor Chase’s musical past and the reason for his departure from it.
The more Chase seeks her out the more likely she’ll learn about his past but the attraction between the two is impossible to resist and not even the fact that Taryn’s first love and ex is set on getting her back or that she could find out about his surrender to the darker side of the rocker lifestyle will deter Chase. Can he avoid falling into dangerous old habits in order to pursue a happy ever after with Taryn?
“The girl was a craving. An all-consuming flame. For me, that was dangerous.”
Chase and Taryn had incredible chemistry right from the start and the sexiness in this story is completely undeniable, but it was the angst, rawness and drama of the story that felt very real and had me flipping page after page to see how it all worked out.
Frost’s writing and pace are excellent, the main characters are complex and the main characters all add to the story’s development and yes drama! The plot definitely had me absorbed with Chase, Taryn and Beckett’s love triangle, difficulties revolving around a friend’s sister and Chase’s past and the probable introduction a future book’s love triangle storyline. This may all sound a bit involved, but that’s the brilliance behind a book that’ll keep you wholly entertained.
Lost For You is book #4 of the Missing from Me series by Jayne Frost. It is standalone contemporary rock star romance. It’s a raw, real, angsty and sexy romance. Told from both points of view and has a happy ending.
“You’re the smooth surface to all my jagged edges.”
I’ve really been enjoying the heck out of this series by Jayne Frost. One of the things I appreciate the most about it is that no two stories are alike. Though they’re all frenetic and dramatic and involve heart-wrenching angst, the journey each character takes to get to their version of happy is truly unique. It’s incredible that each person has a story that was barely hinted at yet when it’s written, it’s not only unexpected but it’s beauty despite the pain. Each story is strangely realistic and we may not know anyone who is like these characters, but their experiences can speak to many of us. And Chase’s story was no different.
Chase is an addict. He’s been clean for more than 10 years and is now helping Logan’s sister conquer her own addiction. But as any addict knows, there’s no cure to this disease. It’s a lifelong battle against unseen demons and no one seems to know this better than Chase. He meets Taryn and he can’t treat her the way that he’s treated women in the past. She’s different. He can’t let go. He recognizes the storm headed his way and instead of sidestepping, he steps right into its path.
Pain. So much freaking pain. But anyone who has struggled with addiction or has been touched by addiction knows that pain is part in parcel with this fight. So I grinned and bared it because I trusted this author to see me through to the other side. And the beauty that shone from Chase was so incredibly worth it!
“Sweet Taryn. Appropriate since she was every song. And every lyric. Everything I’d ever wanted.”
This story was painfully stunning. It was about grief, broken relationships, and addiction. It was about family and friendships. It was about unbreakable ties. It was about the music. Always about the music.
Lost for You is the fourth book in Jayne Frost’s Sixth Street series, and is Taryn and Chase’s story. Taryn is a music manager working with her best friend, Tori. They manage three of the largest bands, including her ex’s band. When she meets Chase at Starbucks, he’s very persistent and convinces her to go out with him.
“Our Eyes met, and for a moment I felt a connection so deep it took my breath away.”
Taryn and Tori both are still trying to get over the deaths of loved ones, so Chase could be that new start that Taryn needs. Chase is really a good guy at heart, even though he’s not really into relationships. What would usually have ban a one night stand for Chase turns into him wanting to see more of Taryn. Taryn on the other hand doesn’t do one night stands so she and Chase both agree to be friends at least, but soon friends is not enough.
The problem is that Chase has demons that he’s battling and what happens when those demons come to light. Can Taryn handle it or will those demons take them both down?
I enjoyed this read. I hated seeing Chase do so well, even trying to help others, and then struggle with his past demons. The relationship between Taryn and her ex went on a little too long for me. Taryn may have said they were over, but she was too soft and never said it with enough conviction to convince Beckett. I really think she held onto that friendship just so she wouldn’t be alone.
I loved seeing Tori and Logan together. They’ve each met their match and neither is willing to back down which can only lead to an explosive romance *fingers crossed* that I can’t wait to read. Thanks again to Maria✦Steamy Reads Blog❋✦ for this ARC and recommendation.
4 ⭐'s
And now we have the infamous Chase's book. He's Cameron's (from the first book) brother, business mogul and club owner. I had NO idea we would be getting the Chase we did.
And then we have Taryn. She's part of the group that had some band members die in a car crash. Even five years later, the wounds are fresh...and unsettling.
These two meet up and all Chase is about is having something going on for about a month or so since he doesn't do relationships. Taryn is a relationship type of girl but she's willing to try a one night stand or two.
Chase has a past and its creeping up on him, confusing things. He's trying to stick to his plan but his feelings are getting muddled. This leads to some unsavory behavior. I just wish this behavior would have had more page time and more focus on the "why".
Another frustration for me is it takes almost the whole book to get these two together and when they do, its bittersweet. Thankfully, there is an epilogue to smooth things over a bit.
Chase was an artist on the rise until drugs got the best of him. He spent a time in rehab to get over his addiction and when that's done, it was a complete turnaround. For eleven years clean, Chase became a successful record producer of his brother band and owns several properties.
Taryn is a business savvy, independent, strong-willed, fierce kind of woman. Deep inside though she's broken after what happened to her friends and now she's trying her best to please everyone except herself.
The meeting of these two is somewhat cute and cheesy, Starbucks style, lol! Chase got all his charm to woo Taryn to give him a chance.
"The drink?" the girl said, tipping her chin to my coffee. "I think it's mine."
"Shit... sorry." I tightened my grip reflexively when her fingers curled around the cup. "Have we met?"
Her smile evaporated. "I don't think so."
Chase is nothing if not persistent, finally, Taryn agreed to meet him and it wasn't just for a drink as they discover their attraction to each other is undeniable. Sizzling to say the least whenever they are together. Will their blossoming love withstand the personal challenges they're about to face separately?
Jayne Frost is a new author and wow it was love at first read. The characters are well developed. That you can relate easily to what they are dealing with. The pacing of each scene scream perfection. What a way to end my year with a great book. That I can proudly recommend to anyone who loves rockstar romance. It's worth your time.
Lost For You was the fourth book in Jayne Foster’s Sixth Street Band series. I love this series and eagerly await each new release. And as expected, Lost For You was another great addition to the series.
Tayrn Ayers was a successful music manager for some of the biggest names in the industry. She suffered heart ache when she lost two of her best friends, members of the band Damaged, in an accident. After five years, she still lived with the daily grief and the impact of the tragic loss.
Chase Noble was a successful business man, owning several companies and properties throughout Austin. He was also a talented musician that had it all - the recording contract and everything that went with it. He now preferred the smaller stage as well as helping to represent his brothers widely successful band, Caged.
Chase and Taryn met at a Starbucks as two people experiencing the routine of a normal life. They had an instant attraction but neither were interested in anything long term - both had tons of baggage. Their lives were anything but normal.
Frost provided complexity by playing out multiple stories within one storyline. The foundation was the relationship building between Chase and Taryn; however, simultaneously running was a carryover story from book three, Missing From Me, where Lauren (Logan’s Long lost sister) was attempting to get clean from her drug addiction, where Chase had an active role. Additionally, Frost weaved us through the intricacies of Chase and Taryn’s jobs.....and the baggage that each carried with them each day. The multiple plots created depth and dimension to the storyline. It was emotional and difficult at times, but I couldn’t put it down.
Frost also successfully set the stage for future stories. It looks like Logan and Tori will get a book soon, but the way has also been paved for heartbroken Beckett and Dylan as well. Down to You is next up and I can’t wait.
This was my first book by Jayne Frost and i was surprised by it - being part of a series, i was hoping i'd be able to follow not only the main storyline, but also the back stories that are linked to the many characters. And i had also hoped that it would be the type of story that would give me some insight as to the previous stories without being overly obvious about it.
The good news: Lost For You was so incredibly easy to follow and gie readers a pretty good idea on what happened in the past.
The bad news: chances are you'll want to get your hands on the previous instalments if you hadn't done so beforehand.
It was an interesting and captivating story, one that delves into the story of those working in the background of the music industry and makes it something that i want to know more about. I'm almost certain that while this may have been my first novel by Jayne Frost, it won't be my last.
Soul Bound. Hope Drowned. Redemption Found.
If that's my next tattoo, will Ms. Frost find it flattering or offensive? I will be hoping for the former.
I'm not sure what I was expecting when I started this book, but what I got was so much better. In the past, I've been hesitant to try new authors. That's something I started to change last year and hope to continue that trend in 2018.
So far, this is the second new-to-me author I've read of 2018 and I could not be happier about the choice I made. Jayne Frost blew me away with this book. I haven't read the previous three books, but it wasn't needed. The characters are all beautifully flawed, tragically lost, and hopelessly hopeful.
This isn't a book that will leave my mind any time soon. Chase and Taryn's story isn't a typical love story. It's filled with pain and loss and heartbreak. It's filled with love and passion.
Chase is an addict. He's been sober for eleven years. That's impressive, as far as I'm concerned. To see the path that he takes in his life--at this moment--is one that I could have never predicted.
Taryn is trying to find her footing in a world where she has been attached to a rockstar. She's trying to show she is on her own--has been for some time--yet the rockstar keeps trying to pull her back down. First loves are hard to overcome and it's even harder when you're still best friends.
But a chance meeting at the local Starbucks proves that sometimes you can outshine your past. Sometimes you can be enough. You just have to find that person. The person who makes you burn and sets your soul on fire. The one you can live without, but don't want to.
Things can't be easy. With an ex in the way and an addiction that's rearing its ugly head, Chase and Taryn are going against the odds. They are going to have to fight for this life. They are going to have to find themselves.
If you like musicians, then Chase is going to sweep you right off your feet. If you like angst, Jayne Frost has provided that for you. If you like secondary characters who are all strong and faithful to our main characters, the Lost For You is the book you need to grab next.
