They tell mothers like me, a woman whose baby has died, that a new pregnancy will bring a rainbow baby. You know, the beauty after the storm.
What they don’t say is how hard it’s going to be. How scary. How emotional. That at the lowest point, I will completely give up hope.
I do have a saving grace. Several, in fact. Gavin, my hot, sex-on-the-kitchen-counter, loves-me-on-my-bad-days husband. He’s been with me since the beginning. And I have Jenny and Tina, girlfriends I met along the way. They’re the good ones. The ones who bring you Kleenex and vodka.
But I also have you. Tens of thousands of you who read my story and have cheered me on, waiting for me and Gavin to have a healthy baby. It helps me, knowing you’re out there, waiting, hoping. Some of you have lost babies yourselves. You know what I’m about to endure.
So it’s time for the happiest happy ending of all. What better time than at Christmas?
(Don’t forget your tissues. And maybe the vodka too.)

Forever Christmas can be read as a standalone, but if this your first introduction to the Forever novels, I recommend reading Forever Innocent to understand their backstory.

Santa Baby by Blair Babylon Royal Christmas Baby by Ember Casey and Renna Peak Baby Me by Lacey Silks Wingmen Babypalooza by Daisy Prescott Forever Christmas by Deanna Roy
Deanna Roy is the six-time USA Today bestselling author of women's fiction. She is a fierce advocate for all the children in her care, biological, fostered, and adopted, and the mothers, who like her, lost babies to miscarriage.
She writes books under four names: Deanna Roy with three-hanky reads in the Forever series:
I loved revisiting Corabelle and Gavin my favourite couple this wonderful rainbow baby Ethan and remembering baby Finn glad Gavin’s dad is getting help and adore corabelles parents I had several rainbow babies and I just love this concept
It's been nearly 2 years since Deanna Roy released Forever Family, book 5 in the Forever series and billed as the final book in the series – but wait – turns out it wasn't the final book after all. Deanna wanted to give us one more story and I'm so glad she did.
I strongly suggest that you read the other books in this series before reading Forever Christmas; you at least need to read Forever Innocent so you get the backstory for Corabelle and Gavin. These two young people have really been put through the wringer. When they were teens they had a baby together that died of a heart defect. Now Corabelle is pregnant again and she is terrified. Gavin is scared, too, but he remains a bit more optimistic about how things will go with this baby than Corabelle.
Never having been pregnant myself, it's impossible for me to really understand how Corabelle feels after having a baby die and then get pregnant again several years later. The emotions that she goes through are heart-wrenching. Deanna Roy really knows how to write an emotional and satisfying story. She takes us through Corabelle's pregnancy, told in first person, alternating between Corabelle and Gavin. As a reader I felt all of Corabelle's doubts, fears and pain; she is so certain that this baby won't make it either and there will be a repeat of what happened with baby Finn.
Fortunately, we already know from the blurb that this will have a happy ending; Deanna would never be so cruel to make Gavin and Corabelle face such a loss again even though such things happen in real life.
While parts of this story might tear your heart out it will be mended again by the end of the story. I'm so glad that Corabelle and Gavin finally get to have the family they've always wanted. Thank you, Deanna Roy, for giving us another wonderful book about Gavin and Corabelle.
I’ve read Gavin and Corabelle’s story in books 1, 2 and now this book in the Forever series. Although these books are part of a series, the author indicated they can be read as stand alones. My issue is that there wasn’t any closure with Gavin’s son Manuel. Maybe he was addressed in a different book in the series, but that would be contrary to the book standing on its own. The reader leaves book 2 with Gavin stepping up to the plate to be a father with his and Rosa’s child. Gavin mentions paying child support and is even spending time with his son together with Corabelle. She seems to be growing into her role as a stepmother. In book 3, you would expect that they will work out being a blended family, but instead there is barely a passing mention of Manuel. Did Rosa and Gavin decide to let Rosa’s cousin adopt Manuel, did Rosa take off and Gavin can’t find them or is this an out of sight, out of mind situation??? The latter scenarios don’t seem to be in line with Gavin’s personality, so what happened. I also felt like with the closing scene of Ethan and Finn’s pictures, side by side, it wasn’t a true picture of their children...where was Manuel’s picture? I’m left frustrated as a reader trying to fill these plot holes.
Grab a box if tissues and a bottle of wine.... settle in for another book told by Deanna Roy that touches your heart and helps you to see things from a point of view , WELL one might not unless they had experienced it. I am always amazed at how detailed this author is in her books and how I tend to forget I am reading a book when in am ReADing.... This book I felt like I was living this pregnancy, ups and downs. I found myself with tears running down my face several times in the course of reading this book. I also felt that this author approached and dealt with childhood abuse well ....
Gavin and Corabelle have been through so much in their young lives: his abusive childhood, a teen pregnancy and the death of that child, separation, reconciliation. Now, they’re looking to take a chance and daring to try to have another child. But will they be able to have another child? If they do conceive, will they be able to handle the fear of possibly losing it too? Will the love they have had through all of this sustain them through what comes next? Well done. Well done.
Everyone's story of infant loss and/or a rainbow baby is individualized. No two are the same, but certain aspects may match. This story was told in a way that only someone who had experienced it could understand. It really stirred up emotions for me. It has been 18.5 years since our daughter died and while I was reading this book, our rainbow baby turned 16.
As always Ms. Roy, does not disappoint. This story with it’s sweet ending, left my eyes moist and heart aching for a parents loss and then the rainbow. Sweet and well written. Merry Christmas to all.
Although I knew this would be an emotional read, I really needed to see that Gavin and Corabelle got their hearts mended! I feel so relieved. Love works mysteriously!
Wow what an emotional ride. This whole series has been very emotional and forever Christmas was no different. I love the characters and the chemistry. The love and the passion. I loved seeing how the characters have evolved and the way they supported each other during very difficult times. Awesome!
Great wrap up to an emotional series. I'm happy that everyone is in a good place now. It was definitely a long road for all of them. Babies just make everything better!!
I loved the final book and the story behind Corabelle’s pregnancy. I am sad the series is over but I will one day read all six books again. Kudos to Deanna Roy.
Reading this final book in the forever series will definitely pull at your heartstrings, especially for those who have experienced a miscarriage or loss of a child. Being able to read this beautiful story of hope, closure, forgiveness and love will have you captivated from beginning to end. Thank you Deanna for such an amazing heartfelt beautiful journey you have taken us on with this series!
