I just died and went to heaven. I'm now lying on a cloud, writing this review 😌☁️

Brilliant. Brilliant. BRILLIANT writing! This is the first fanfic I've read by this author, and I'm instantly a fan 😍 *swoons*

Andy is now Miranda's first assistant. Everyone knows no one rides the elevator with Miranda, but when she gets trapped in one, Andy comes to her rescue and convinces the older woman to let her ride the elevator with her from then on. In her haste to get to Miranda, however, Andy does something dangerous and the Ice Queen was not impressed (Hmm... Really? 😏). Andy was gobsmacked to find her boss firing her. Yet instead of instructing her to leave Runway right away, Miranda gives Andy one more season (3 months) to train both her colleague for the first assistant position and the new second assistant who Andy has yet to find. And so starts the series of shared elevator trips forcing these two women to confront clandestine feelings brought to light by this new routine.

This story made me feel all kinds of things. My heart constricted, fluttered, and all that happened after only finishing Chapter 1. There are authors out there whose writing simply connects with you on a deep level that before you know it, it took only a few of their words to have you hooked. politic_x was one such author for me.

This particular fic wasn't even heavy on the plot. It was just two silly women dallying with each other in the close confines of an elevator. This story was written like a string of connected oneshots, detailing the brief but impactful daily encounters of our MCs with one another. Yet somehow, the narrative captivated me from beginning to end.

As a DWP fan, Miranda and Andy hold a special place in my heart. So whenever I come across an author that does these two characters justice or makes exceptional use of their nuanced attributes, I quickly become an avid reader of this writer's works.

politic_x's writing beautifully captures the depth of emotions her characters are experiencing. This fact was so palpable that even though the lovemaking here wasn't explicitly written, it elicited powerful scenes that left no room for doubt about the love the MCs felt for each other. I'm not even mad the story concluded right after Miranda and Andy finally got together, which is a miracle because endings like this usually drive me nuts. Did I want to read more? Yes (With great stories, won't I always?). But did the ending gratify me? ABSOLUTELY. This is a story I would gladly read over and over again. And politic_x is a writer I'd follow even though she doesn't appear to be writing new fanfics anymore 😭 I'd probably read all of her works and cry after because there's no more coming 😢 So, if anyone knows this author's full name or if she has published books, please LMK. All I know is that her first name's Laura.

Anyway, I believe this fanfic is Miranda and Andy approved 👍🏻👍🏻

The quality's right up there with Telanu's T&M 💖

I love it when a fanfic author gets the characters right. This Miranda Priestly is perfect! I love how lovesick Andy is trying to figure her out. Main location for most scenes is the elevator in the Elias-Clarke building. Extra bonus is the loving description of every piece of clothing Miranda and Andy wear throughout the story. This is not just filler but done for a reason. Politic-X really knows her fashion!

This story is top notch and a must read for all Mirandy fans out there!

f/f delicious slow burn and very sexy

2nd time read
So I decided to reread a few DWP fics from my marathon.

Andy continues to work for Miranda and doesn't quit. In fact, after two years of working with Miranda, she refuses to leave. After an incident in the elevator, Miranda gives her a 9-week deadline.

I really enjoyed this one because it is very different compared to other DWP fic while most fics will have some fashion in them this one revolves around it and uses it to describe how our protagonist feels. The entire thing is written from Andy's perspective and mainly focuses on the interaction between Miranda and Andy, in fact, you could say it more or less exclusively them as any other characters only get mentioned in passing.

1 time read.

I read this in my DWP marathon and from what I remember it had really really good descriptions of outfits.

5 Stars - Much shorter then the opus Truth and Measure elicits the same feels. LOVED IT!!!

I am not a huge fan of ice queens, but if there was one that I would let step on my neck, it would be a well written Miranda Priestly. This fic which takes place mostly in short encounters during the morning ride up in the elevator is DEVINE! I am wondering if part of why I love this so much is because I have already read Truth and Measure and this work is like a shortcut to all the emotions that other work evoked in me. The writing is amazing.

Hats off to politic_x for all the fashion! Amazing research. I have the fashion sense of a cabbage and I loved it. It really is important in a DWP fanfic as it really set the right vibe.

Special thanks to CLAR for her rave review that made me pick this up immediately and read it. So glad I did not miss out on the gem.

This story is long enough to give a good slow burn but easily readable in a single sitting.

I haven’t read a whole lot of DWP fic, but this one had a slightly different dynamic than others I’ve read. Miranda is written a bit more harshly than in others, she’s confident and sharp, there were some definite mind games going on. Andy is conflicted and buffeted by forces she can’t control.

By the time the story starts, both male partners are out of the scene, at least neither MC is currently in a relationship. The story unfolds in a series of clandestine conversations in the elevator and gets more steamy as it goes on. It’s told from Andy’s POV in first person, so Miranda remains a mystery until the end, which is one of my favorite things about DWP fic.

There is a lot of fashion in this story. Brand-names abound, dressing up (and down) are major themes. The characters even interact on a nonverbal level using clothing as a medium. While this is initially interesting, I found it repetitious toward the end.

The one sex scene occurred quite near the end, and it was worth the wait. In the story, it is hinted that Miranda’s experienced or at least is very aware of same-sex attraction but Andy is a complete newcomer to WLW. I thought the scene was almost too smooth. They went from zero to 100 without any problem or second thoughts, awkward moments etc. The story ends soon after, but at a good point so the main story arc is tied up.

There are some indications this is only a HFN and others that it’s a HEA.

Not a bad read at all!

5 stars. So incredibly satisfying. I adored this story. The writing was so good. My goodness the sexual tension between Miranda and Andy had me sweating. It was delicious and the build up was so worth it. While this was the perfect length for this story it was so good that I wanted it to be just a little bit longer. This writer has a few other Mirandy fics and I am excited to dive into those to get more of their writing of these two. This was romantic and so swoon worthy.
