Manga creator ONE first created One-Punch Man as a web comic, where it quickly went viral, garnering over 10,000,000 hits! Along with One-Punch Man, ONE also writes and draws another series called Mob Psycho 100.
All right. That was one hell of a good ending. I was in some rather horrible shock for a while and then I was just horrified, but the storytelling was really powerful. Everything about the whole series came crashing back down on my head.
I fully admit that I was in tears at the end. I laughed and I cried.
Seriously though, this manga had some really stupid parts to it but it all seemed planned from the start. You know, since it really did turn out to be a YA with some truly serious focus on coming of age aspects.
But it also could have been a perfect metaphor for walling up your emotions or mental health issues or just GROWING UP. Beyond that... it's totally OTT awesome when it comes to the action and all the vast normal stuff grounds it pretty perfectly.
It's NOT a polished piece of work. It's raw, sometimes ugly, often funny, but it's also damn real even when it's crazy. What can I say? I really liked it. I wanted to hate it sometimes, but now I just deeply appreciate it.
LACRIME.
It was all in all a great ride. A very beautiful and humbling story about how we are all different but equal, about the importance of friendship and support and how lucky some of us are to have great people around us.
A read that went beyond entertainment and really taught me some things too.
As I mentioned before many times, I was hesitant about these last few volumes but the ending was really worth it. This whole ???% Arc was really interesting since we got to see many characters try to help Mob (Teru as his rival, Claw members, Boss and Shou, Body Improvement Club, and finally Ritsu and Reigen). Reigen comes with a clutch at the end (similar to that %1000 gratitude part before). It is also weird that everything pretty much happened because of Tsubomi (not this arc the whole plot of Mob Psycho 100). We make a full circle and come back to Tsubomi only to see Mob leaving her behind finally. It was great to see Mob laugh as he finally accepted his self and show his emotions. In short, though some of the volumes (mainly 13, 14, and 15) had serious problems, I liked the ending. It was a great journey overall.
after 16 volumes of steady emotional buildup, this was such a natural conclusion to the story; I love that LITERALLY EVERYTHING comes full circle and shigeo finally gets a chance to reconcile with his emotions/powers (which, under years of repression, became so strong that they're literally personified). the psychological aspect of the final ???% arc was both really illuminating and affirming to me as a reader, and it was definitely the highlight of the whole series for me. i love shigeo so much; i'll remember the last panel super fondly because of what it represents for him <3 overall this was a series that felt kind & humbling & genuinely full of heart!
There is a Venn diagram where this and The Earthsea Cycle instersect. The greatest and most important battles you'll ever face are the interpersonal ones. I think the anime did a better job with pacing but Reigan running towards Mob as the world falls apart around him still made me tear up.
Me encanta.
Gracias ONE.
Great conclusion to a great manga! My favorite thing about ONE is his ability to write details in the story that feel inconsequential but ultimately come back around in a big way. Not gonna lie I teared up a bit during the last arc, and once again was surprised about how this story makes us think about what it means to be a good person and encourage us to do our best. I love these characters so much and I can’t wait for season 3 of the anime!
Such an amazing series!!! The ending was so well done and I love the entire theme of finding yourself and acceptance. The action and the characters, everything was fantastic. Almost cried during the last chapter. I love mob psycho so much!!!
I cried the first time reading this. GOSH that was a powerful ending. Mob psycho at its core is the story of a boy who accepts himself as he is. Someone who struggled so much with a negative perception of himself that finally forgives himself for past mistakes. I particularly love reigen’s motto of “you’re normal”. Despite having op psychic powers, mob is just a kid who goes through everything else a kid does. His powers don’t make him non-human or anything; it’s just a feature he has.
He’s carried guilt his whole life over having the power to harm people and it’s placed a huge toll on him. He’s so scared of hurting others that he prevents himself from feeling any emotions that can trigger it. Of course no human can handle that so it leads to him bottling his emotions until they inevitably explode. But this has led him to a life of emptiness.
When he finally confesses to Tsubomi, she turns him down and contrary to what would’ve happened in the past, he’s okay. The world doesn’t end, he doesn’t lose control, no percent meter, he’s just okay. He acts like anybody else does. No longer holding back his emotions, he starts openly crying. That to me showed the completion of his struggle against himself. I’m so glad he was able to express his emotions in a natural and healthy manner. No more 100% outburst. Just a normal kid feeling normal feelings.

I didn't really care much about Mob Psycho 100 as much as I do about OPM. It's not the art though. I actually like the art of Mob. I just don't care about the characters or the story and structure of Mob I guess. I also prefer the anime over the manga but the anime isn't a huge improvement or anything like that.
After years of suppressing his powers, Mob's psychic abilities take on a mind of their own. Everyone gets to see Mob going wild, unrestrained, as all the friends and lives he's impacted over the years try to stop him. This is some fantastic payoff to the entire series, and seeing Mob's expressions at the end were so very much worth it.
This was genuinely the perfect ending. Mob had the most logical progression of his character, and it was horrifying and then heartwarming to see. So many great characters got their moment to shine before the series wrapped. This one is gonna stick with me for a while.
