Felicity had spent the last five years hiding from everyone she knew. Her family. Herself. Her God. A chance encounter with her childhood friend, Rory, reveals to her all the things she left behind.
When an act of violence crumbles all her plans, she's left with nothing more than shaky faith and burnt bridges. Or so she thinks. This modern take on the parable of the prodigal child is one part family drama, one part romance.
C.K. Leger lives on a fifth generation family farm in south Louisiana with her husband, Tony, and their three youngest children. When she's not writing, she works as a visual artist and spends as much of her free time outdoors as she can.
Finding Felicity is one of the best Christian fiction novels I've read in a long time! It has so much depth and from the start you will find yourself rooting for Felicity, the main character, even through some of her questionable choices. Wonderful job done by C.K. Leger!
Finding Felicity is a beautiful example of God's grace. It's about hearing the echoing voice of shame and regret, and yet choosing to believe what God says about us instead. It's about forgetting mistakes of yesterday and pressing on to a better tomorrow. I love how the author reveals an unfolding romance while drawing on biblical principles to bring about forgiveness and reconciliation. I also love the Louisiana/small town ties ;)
I won my advanced copy from Goodreads Giveaways and it was a great read. It was a fast and very interesting story and I didn't want it to end. There is so much going on in this story, I really enjoyed every page. It read like a real life situation, and unpredictable. The story flowed. This is my first book by C.K. Leger but it won't be my last. It was everything I like in a story, I laughed and I cried. She covered it all in this book.
The book is a heartwarming story of how God's love can take one out of the darkness of hopelessness and lead us back into the light of hope. I found it inspirational and a good book to sit quietly and meditate on. The events of this story certainly held my interest. Sacrificial love is such a beautiful thing to give and to receive.
I won a copy of this book through Goodreads Giveaways. The copy I received noted that it was not ready for publication yet and still was a rough draft. I had to shut off my "editing brain" and skip over the misspelled words, incorrect grammar and typos, but it was still hard to read at times. It didn't flow well, at first. It was hard to understand and get "into" the characters heart and feelings. BUT, by about half-way through, I was feeling much better about it and thought it a very nice book by the end of the story. There are some hard-hitting moments that are tough to read through. This is not a book for young children. Teenagers might want to read it along with a parent and talk through the hard parts. It DOES show what can happen when a teenager does what SHE wants to do and doesn't listen to others. It does have redemption in the story, which is what God is all about!
