Baytown Boys
Military duty called them away to war zones, but after tours overseas, the group of friends found their way back home as men, seeking the peaceful little seaside town. Now, the band of brothers, together once more, work to provide a place for less fortunate veterans to call home.

Lance Greene. Former military. Current artist…and recluse. Moving to Baytown was a chance to get away and forget. Forget his family’s expectations, forget the friends he lost on his last mission, and try to forget the nightmares that follow him. Staying away from people worked, until he met her. She was bright, happy, and everything he did not want.

Jade Lyons. Elementary teacher. Sea glass collector. New to Baytown, she embraced all the small town had to offer, loving the little town, her friends, her students, and her new habit of early morning walks on the beach to find sea glass. Until she met him. He was overbearing, rude, and everything she wanted to avoid.

But sea glass works magic and when Jade discovers a body, Lance steps up, vowing to protect her.

Can picking up the pieces bring two souls together?

As an Award Winning and International Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Best Selling Author, I have always been an avid reader. I joke that I "cut my romance teeth" on the old historical romance books. I’ve written as a hobby for over 30 years. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma's Home was created.

My first novel, Emma's Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love's Series. From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series.

My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex; mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with.
I worked as a counselor in a high school and have been involved in education for the past 30 years. I recently retired and now can spend more time devoted to my writing.

I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 35 years and have 2 adult, very supportive daughters.
When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!

I love to hear from readers, so please email me!

Lance Greene has been living in Baytown for a year and likes the privacy and solitude he finds. He has some friends that he made that are ex-military and like him and who work for the police like he used too. Many who understand and deal with the aftermath of the things seen and done in war too. He friend Mitch is the one who invited him to the town and once he saw the town he felt it was perfect. He created an artistic outlet by using the sea glass the town is known for to create art as a way to cope with bad memories that give him nightmares and that he hasn't learn to cope with.

Jade Lyons moved to Baytown to be a teacher at the elementary school when she learned they were in desperate need for good teachers even though the pay was low. Wanting to help schools and students in need she felt it was perfect and took the job. She met Tori by staying at her inn the first few weeks which lead to her making friends with her and her group of friends. She loves to collect sea glass after learning about it from her friends and often show her students and use them for art projects.

One day Jade on her one of her usual early morning walks on the beach to get the information on boats that come into town and to collect sea glass she runs literally into Lance not paying attention to where she was going. Lance annoyed at the intrusion is extremely rude to her and tells her she trespassing. Embarrassed, a little intimidated by his anger and angry a little herself she leaves. She tells her friends of the incident and they tell her he lied about the trespassing on the beach part and Tori has Mitch address him. Lance is surprised but knows he was rude even though his irritation still holds but he promises to be better. Jade learning from her friend about his artwork leaves him some of what she has found. When he catches her leaving more he tells her to just leave him alone but feels horrible about hid behavior later and after hearing a older officer talk about his bad memories he decides he really needs to finally get some real help and try to really find himself again.

Feeling bad about their first interactions and want to make amends with the beautiful teacher that won't leave his thoughts. He goes to her and apologies and at first not sure when she see how much he is trying she accepts and a friendship develops. But Jade unfortunately discovers a body while heading to visit Lance. Lance has been toying with the offer to work for the department but when this happens to Jade he takes the job. They both don't think much of her involvement in the discovery until she becomes a target and they must find out why.

I love many of Maryann Jordan's books and this was no exception. Lance was harsh in the beginning and while understood behavior unnecessary. But once he realized how much he wasn't really healing he took the steps to get help. Jade was sweet and likable and strong which I appreciated. I also thought the story told by the old vet being a story the authors father in law told her and it's her tribute to him and other vets was such a nice one. So while not a 5 it had a good story with some good characters and was a nice low angst read to start my year and both of my reading challenges.

Lance Greene has been living in Baytown for a year, and is a bit of a hermit, encased in solitude as he tries to live after his military duty and all he experienced. His friend the town sheriff Mitch is the one who invited him to the town, thinking it would be a good place for him to start over, and Lance has found some piece in creating beautiful peace of art using the sea glass that can be found on the beach, his creations are also away for him to try and silence the nightmares/demons that hound him, and keep him on the periphery of town life and the relationships he could form and/or further develop.

Jade Lyons moved to Baytown to be a teacher at the elementary school, much to the disapproval of her snooty parents. She loves collecting sea glass for herself put also for her students, and one day as she walks on the beach, she crosses over to the part Lance considers his, and well the first meeting isn’t a great start to their relationship, but it is the start of Lance finally taking tentative steps to make bonds, as he finds himself unable to keep away from Jade. Now he just needs to ensure whomever is trying to hurt/kill her doesn’t get to her.

Again, like one or two other books in the series there are some small lines of dialogue that do not flow seamlessly, and this read there was a line or two which I felt was overly corny, but still it was a nice read that will be staying on my kindle, it’s cobwebs dusted off at some point (even if not as prolifically as the other books in the series).

Picking Up the Pieces continues Jordan's stories of veterans finding peace and love after their military career is over. Lance was a military cop who watched his unit die on a mission. He tried to return to a normal life by working as a cop in Richmond, but it wasn't for him. He moves to Baytown and becomes a bit of a recluse who stays at home making art from sea glass.

Jade is a 2nd grade teacher who collects sea glass to share with her students. She loves her job and her friends in Baytown. She has a chance encounter with Lance that does NOT go well. He is surly and rude to her immediately. However, she isn't willing to let him push her around and is determine to be kind and welcoming. They slowing start to get to know each other and Lance begins to realize his life, as he has been living it, isn't making him happy. He and Jade discover how much they have in common and its a sweet, normal relationship. You have the added mystery of a murder in town and Jade's tangental relationship to the murder. This kept me guessing and was mysterious enough to make the plot feel like it didn't drag along. You also have the dynamic of small town life that adds to the plot. The interesting people of the town make for a well rounded cast of characters!

My biggest issue with Picking Up the Pieces is similar to issues I have had with Jordan's books in the past-the dialogue can be corny at times. This could just be me being judgmental and jaded though. However, sometimes the dialogue has me rolling my eyes at the cheesiness.

Picking up the pieces by Maryann Jordan
This is the 5th book in the series and little by little I am falling more in love with each character. Lance Greene likes his privacy so when he sees Jade Lyons is collecting sea glass he tells her its private. Once Lance gives jade a chance, he starts to open up and show himself around town. Lance seen a lot at war and the demons are still in him so he likes being alone and stays away from the community. Jade works at an elementary she loves teaching the children about the boats and sea glass. While these two start to explore the idea of a relationship someone is out to get her and Lance refuse to let someone hurt her.
I was worried about Lance, I wasn't sure how he would find love. Jade was perfect for him, she really brought him out of his shell and made him even more protective.

*I volunteered to read this book for my honest opinion*

“no matter how horrible the day might have been, when the sun paints the sky at the end of the day, I know there will be a tomorrow.
A new day. A new chance to make changes. To make a good day.”
Beautiful book.
The next book in the Baytown Boys series is the story of Lance Greene and Jade Lyons.
Lance a war veteran where he was a Criminal Investigator in the Army and Jade a Teacher.
The first time they meet, Lance was an *ss to her, but he couldn’t get the beautiful green eyes woman out of his head.
Lance makes art out of sea-glass and Jade collects them for her students.
Beautiful book with just the suspense I love.

“It’s proof that things can change...for the better. Life can break us into pieces, but we can change, become more beautiful then we where before.”

This series is getting better and better.

4.5 star review of Picking Up The Pieces (Baytown Boys #5) by Maryann Jordan
This is the story of Lance Greene, a war veteran and Jade Lyons, a teacher who is relatively new to Baytown and is a great addition to the Baytown Boys series.

As I have come to expect from Maryann Jordan, it was a well written and interesting story. There is angst, romance and suspense and I was engrossed in the story from chapter one. This series, although about individual men and women finding each other is also about family, not necessarily blood relate, but family none the less.

Lance, like many of his “brothers”, fights the nightmares and the demons from his time in the military. He creates art with the Sea Glass that he finds and it is because of this that he and Jade meet whilst she is collecting Sea Glass to give to her student. After a dismal couple of meetings, you had to wonder if these two were really fated to be together.

However Lance and Jade have more in common than they both realise, they both hope that Baytown will give them the new beginnings that they seek away from their unsupportive families.

When Jade comes across a dead body whilst walking on the beach, it is Lance who takes her under his protection and it is easy to see how his past as a Military Criminal Investigator comes to the surface.

This was a gripping and well written book and I loved the camaraderie and friendships between the men and their women. I look forward to more books in the Baytown Boys series.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, sadness, pain, suspense, and heartbreak.

Before reading this story please read the below books first
Coming Home (Baytown Boys #1)
Just One More Chance (Baytown Boys #2)
Healing Love (Saints Protection & Investigations, #2)
Finding Peace (Baytown Boys #4)

This is Jade and Lance’s story. Jade met Lance when she was out collecting Sea Glass but he was rude to her. He is better off by himself not surrounded by people so he is mean in hopes people stay away. But After Jade goes out of her way to be nice to him he tries to be a friend to her. When she needs protection, he steps up and offers himself and his home. But can he solve the case and protect her at the same time? Or will his own nightmares keep him for being able to do either of those tasks? Can Jade count on Lance after the way they met? Can she trust him with her life? Or will they both end up losing something more then a little Sea Glass?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

A fabulous romantic suspense that had my emotions going every which way, with wonderfully sexy romance, a great plot, and memorable characters! Picking Up The Pieces is another Baytown treasure. I love the angst, I love the connection and the feels, the awe inspiring romance and the suspense that brings extra excitement, danger, and action to this already stupendous read.

I was immediately drawn into the story by a grumpy Lance and the sweet and kind Jane. Every time these two met up, there was always some sort of tension. It was so hard for Lance to stay away from Jane, especially since she had a special...lightness to her that even I, the reader could clearly see and that I found endearing. As the story progresses so does the romance between them. It was sweet, made my heart happy and when the suspense was added, it made this book IMPOSSIBLE to put down.

Picking Up The Pieces gets a MUST GIVE THIS SECOND AND A THIRD READ BECAUSE IT WAS SOOOO GOOD, FIVE SHOOTING STARS!

I loved this installment of the Baytown Boys. I knew when Lance came to town that he was running from something. Lance came to Baytown when his friend Mitch told him to come check the town out.
Jade feel in love Baytown when she showed up last year to teach. She loves her kids and the sea glad that she finds along the beach.
The love story between these two is so sweet and slow growing. The mystery of this book was very intriguing.

I fell in love with the writings of this author when I read Letters From Home. This audio one will not disappoint the listener, whether new to her or one who has come to enjoy her stories.
This is the story of Lance Greene and Jade Lyons. He is an Army vet that has seen the devastations of war and is still dealing with the nightmares. He’s come to Baytown upon his friend MItch’s invitation, but has remained a recluse. His outlet is creating art with sea glass. Jade is a second grade school who has also come to Baytown for a new beginning. Both chasing a new life away from the old. Both dealing with unsupportive families.
Their first meeting was less than stellar but soon a friendship and more develops.
Though the story is filled with mystery, suspense and someone trying to harm Jade, it’s really a story about these new beginnings, second chances, new hope and love.
Paraphrasing the author, the pieces of the sea glass are like life. The original form is no longer there, but by putting these pieces together and creating art and beauty, it reminds us that life is like that. Putting the pieces together will create new beginnings and new hope.
Definitely a thoughtful, thought provoking and engaging plot and set of characters.
The narration by Kale Williams brings the story to life.
I was gifted this audiobook by Booksprout.

Another enjoyable addition to the series. Couple of things tho... the over-use of 'quipped' really started to grate. It's a good word... but very much over-used, often in the wrong context, in this tale. Also... who did kill the vic?

Like the the other book in this series that I've read, Finding Peace, I really appreciate that Jordan has her military heroes (& heroine) find the help they need in a healthy way.  They have a group of friends that understand them and are there to support them, which is so heartwarming.  But they also see a therapist to work through their issues from serving overseas.  These are not things that will just get better on their own.  They are dealing with issues that leave scars and have long-term implications and Jordan handles it with care.

Like Finding Peace, there is two parts to this story - the romance and the mystery.  Unlike with the first book I read, I think the dead body plotline is much more important here than the Peeping Tom case was before.  It's part of the catalyst for getting the two of them together as well as helping get Lance out his self-imposed isolation.  It's also a pretty darn good suspense element.  The who and why was intriguing and kept me guessing right until the end.  It also all played out very believably so I definitely give Jordan an A.

The love story is drama-free and realistic.  Once Lance makes up for his initial gruff behavior and starts making an effort with Jade, it kinda blooms between them.  There were a couple of scenes that reminded me more of high school than what I'm used to in adult romances (the awkward flirting and the looks from their friends) but I'm pretty sure that it probably is pretty darn accurate when you have a tight group of friends like that.  It's hard to hide their attraction and growing feelings and so you are going to get the acknowledgment from friends that they see what's going on.

And I loved these two.  Lance is, of course, one of those stand-up guys.  He's a protector, full of strength and leadership, but it makes it a little hard for him to open up and talk about his past.  Luckily Jade has patience (she does teach elementary school kids :) ) and she's willing to provide him the support he needs until he's ready to share.  It's just what he needs at a time when he's finally ready to make his way into the world again.

With a gripping, well-written suspense element and a touching, sweet romance, I definitely recommend getting your hands on Picking Up the Pieces.

‘Military duty called them away to war zones, but after tours overseas, the group of friends found their way back home as men, seeking the peaceful little seaside town. Now, the band of brothers, together once more, work to provide a place for less fortunate veterans to call home.’

Picking Up the Pieces is the fifth instalment in the Baytown Boys series by Maryann Jordan. Having seen these books pop up on social media and reading my GR friend’s reviews of the series I started collecting the books quite some time ago, but has taken me till now to finally plunge in.
Maryann Jordan’s Baytown Boys series is a 17-book romantic suspense saga that masterfully weaves together themes of camaraderie, love, healing, and personal redemption. Set in the fictional coastal town of Baytown, an idyllic seaside town, this series follows a close-knit group of former military friends who return home from service overseas and strive to create a supportive environment for themselves and less fortunate veterans. Ms. Jordan’s storytelling fuses small-town charm with emotional depth, making the setting a vivid and integral component of her storyline/s.
Each book centers around a different MC, exploring their unique struggles and romantic journeys. The veterans’ experiences and wartime scars are written with sensitivity and authenticity, adding an extra element of emotional resonance to the relationships and characters personal growth.
Ms. Jordan cleverly balances romance with mystery and suspense. From murder investigations to drug rings, each plot includes high-stakes elements that kept me engaged, all while the romantic tension sizzled. But, beyond the romance/s, intrigue, and action - the stories also show the healing power of friendship, love, and a supportive community - which created a warm and reassuring backdrop for the more intense elements.
This series is ideal for readers of contemporary romantic suspense with a military element and small-town setting.
Happy Reading…

Sea-Splashed Romance with Grumpy Hero

The hero of this book does not make a good impression on either the heroine or the reader! He takes “grumpy” to a whole new level. He's former military whose experience has turned him into a recluse; he doesn't like anybody getting too close to his home. I've listened to a few other books in this series, and this book captures what it is like to live on the coast, even more than the other books did. I was lucky enough to live on the California coast for 10 years, and her discussions of meeting with fishermen at the pier and having super fresh seafood and produce brought back memories. The author has created a complex small town with interesting main and secondary characters. I love how she incorporates the American Legion into each story, as well as the local place that helps veterans process their trauma. This book had an incredibly touching scene at one of the American Legion meetings where a World War II veteran shared his story about his time in the Pacific theater. Every book, though, has had the same big flaw, one I rarely notice in audiobooks. The book has a lot of head-hopping! The perspective character flips as often as every sentence, which can get confusing. It's annoying enough in a regular ebook, but I find it particularly difficult to follow in a fast-moving audiobook. The books in this series about the Baytown boys feature former military heroes, but unlike most books with military leading men, this series has them in jobs outside of protection or private security. Surprisingly, this grumpy hero is an artist specializing in making items using sea glass. The place I lived near the coast was also famous for its sea glass. I've seen it used in so many beautiful ways, and I could just picture what he was doing with it. If you don't mind head-hopping and love the grumpy hero trope, you will probably enjoy this book.

I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review

Another hit for Maryann Jordan! Picking Up the Pieces (Baytown Boys book #5) is the beautifully told story of Lance and Jade. Lance is a war veteran, recluse, who is an artist using sea glass as a way of coping with his PTSD and nightmares stemming from his military service. Jade is an elementary school teacher who loves to collect sea glass. She also shares the sea glass and the geography of the ships that are at port with her students. Lance and Jade are new to Baytown. I do not want to give too much away and spoil it for other readers, so I will just tell you that this is such a beautiful love story. Their attraction was instant, but due to Lance keeping to himself he is pretty much a jackass to Jade at first. This book has it all. It is suspenseful, full of drama and angst. You are witness to Lance’s demons come to rest, and to Lance and Jade falling in love. This is a must read. I have read all of Maryann Jordan’s books, and absolutely love them all. She has such a way with character development. By the end of chapter one you will always know who the main characters are, their background and how they came to be, as well as all the recurring characters in the story. The suspense and the mystery surrounding it will keep you on the edge of your seat. There will also be the hot sex scenes that will leave you…well, leave you wanting and needing more. I always end each of Maryann Jordan’s books with a sigh and a smile on my face. I know you will have one to! I highly recommend Picking Up the Pieces. Thank you, Maryann Jordan, for another fabulous book. I cannot wait to see what you have in store for us.

I love Maryann's writing and enjoyed Picking up the Pieces so much.
This is the story of Lance Greene a war veteran who has become a reclusive in his new home of Baytown because he's still dealing with the nightmares and trauma of his past war life.
His art of working and creating with sea glass is his only passion.
Jade Lyons is the second grade school teacher who has come to Baytown to be free of her past and
make a life in Baytown that she dreams of.
Both come form unsupported families and are struggling with making their lives there own.
As Jade is doing one of her favorite things collecting sea glass and observing the boats and ships that come to the bay, she unknowingly collides with Lance and unfortunately there first couple of meetings he isn't very nice to her but with a talk from Mitch and him deciding to make more of an effort to be part of the community he actually loves living in, his friendship and interest with Jade starts to blossom. But like any book of Maryann's drama and danger are just around the corner and for some reason unknown to Jade and the Baytown Police Jade is caught right in the middle. Lance takes it upon himself to not only be involvedand solve the case that is putting Jade's life at risk but has stepped up to protect Jade and also let her into his life and his heart.
Loved this story and the wonderful characters, suspense and romance with all the humor and twists that you expect from Maryann. Couldn't put down, I know I said I can't wait for Brogan's book then it was Lance's well that was great now I want Belle's!! hint hint !!! nudge nudge!!! Maryann.

Picking Up The Pieces by Maryann Jordan is the 5th book in the Baytown Boys series. They each can be read as a standalone, but definitely all worth reading. This is one of my top favorite series. And Picking Up The Pieces has become my new favorite in this series.

Lance Greene is sort of an “adopted” Baytown Boy. A veteran who arrived in Baytown at the invitation of Mitch who served with him in the military. He likes his privacy and tries to keep to himself almost to the point of reclusive.

“...when the sun paints the sky at the end of the day, I know there will be a tomorrow. A new day. A new chance to make changes. To make it a good day.”

Jade Lyons is an elementary school teacher who wants to work where she can make a difference to the children she teaches. Collecting sea glass on the shore and observing ships and activities along the shore line in her free time, she collided with Lance and invaded his privacy and his thoughts.

“…Sea glass is proof that things can change…for the better. Life can break us into pieces, but we can change, become more beautiful than we were before.”

I love this small town murder mystery with a protective hero, a caring heroine, meddling controlling families, danger, and a great supportive community in Baytown!

“Jade, baby…it means the world to me…and so do you.” He had more he wanted to say, but for now, he just let his heart speak.”

OMG what a fantastic book by Maryann Jordan Picking Up the Pieces has got to be one of my favorites so far this year I know only a couple of weeks in but what can I say loved this story. The writing is excellent the characters are amazing the storyline is spectacular a must read. I could not put this book down I was hooked from the first line till the very end. This story is full of suspense, mysterious and filled with some love. Lance Greene an Army vet who is suffering from the horrors of war and nightly nightmares. He believes life is easier and quite simple being by himself. He likes his walks on the beach while he collects sea glass for his art which helps soothes his mind. Jade Lyons an elementary school teacher loves her new town and being a second grade teacher. Jade loves walking on the beach to collect sea glass for her students and watching the ships in the bay. When these two meet the first time Lance is unfriendly but feels an instant attraction and is not sure what to make of his feelings. Jade finds this unfriendly man quite attractive but is taken back by his response to her. Soon there is some disturbing things happening in town and around Jade this will bring Lance's protective side out. Will these two get past there uncomfortable begaining? Will Lance finally feel like being around others. I highly recommend this great book. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Maryann Jordan did it again with another amazing addition to the Baytown Boys. I have been waiting for Lance's story since he was first introduced and I couldn't wait to find out what caused him to become a recluse. Jade and Lance's first introduction was definitely not the greatest and you had to wonder how he would redeem himself. Jade loves to walk the beach to look for sea glass and to document the ships in the port for her students. She accidentally stumbles onto Lance's "private beach". He was not so very nice to her and she left the beach embarrassed. I love how the ladies rally around her and how Mitch goes out to talk to Lance. Their second meeting was definitely not much better and you really begin to wonder how these two will get a happily ever after. Eventually, the two connect and it is through that connection that meat of the story begins. As Jade is walking the beach to visit Lance, she stumbles on a dead body. Through this story line, we begin to see the former Criminial Investigator emerge. Throughout the story, Lance opens up about his life in the Army and we slowly see him "picking up the pieces" of his life and fully embrace a life with Jade. I can't wait for the next Baytown Boys story! Thank you for another awesome read! I received an authors copy and I willingly left an honest review!

Lance, wanting to distance himself from his family and his memories, finds himself accepting an invitation from Mitch to move to Baytown. Suffering with nightmares from his last deployment, Lance lives his days making art with pieces of sea glass. He enjoys being alone as socializing is NOT his thing--that is until Jade trespasses.

Jade, an elementary teacher in Baytown, spends mornings searching for sea glass. She collects sea glass and information on ships in the harbor as teaching tools for her class. On one such search, Jade runs into Lance. Although he's rude and gruff, she sees something in him that makes her want to know more. Slowly, she starts to worm her way into his life. When Jade's life is threatened, it's a race against time to find a killer. Can Lance protect Jade from the killer while keeping to himself?

This novel is part of a series. Although it can be read as a stand alone novel, the characters you meet in previous novels are key players throughout the series. The ending was suspenseful and had a added twist which was a surprise. I enjoy not being able to guess the ending after the first few chapters! I loved Jade and Lance's story! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

I love reading this series. Each book is the story of two people who find each other in ways they never thought they would. This book is Jade Lyons and Lance Green's story.

Jade meets Lance one morning as she is walking along the beach picking up bits of sea glass. He tells her this beach is private thus scaring her away but he can't get the dark haired, green eyed beauty off his mind. So once the story gets out to their mutual friends of what he has done he gets his chops busted by the COP thus he feels like the a$$ he is. Deciding to make amends he meets her on that same beach the next Saturday morning with a cup of coffee as a peace offering. Thus starts their story.

Lance wants to be the man he once was so he will feel worthy of Jade. As she is walking the beach on a later date she stumbles upon a dead body. After a newspaper photo with the little story of her find strange things start to happen with the major one being she is run off the road on her way to Lance's house. The mystery continues with the identity of the dead man and other things coming to light but the connection between Jade and that person has yet to discovered.

This book is full of mystery, suspense, friends, family and the picking up of pieces that end with two hearts syncing to beat as one.

Lance is an incredible artist who uses sea glass to create his art. He is not a trained artist but he finds making mobiles and mosaics to be healing. He is a recluse and has demons and nightmares to fight.
He is a bit of an enigma in town as he does keep to himself and guards his privacy. That is until Jade came along.

Jade teaches second graders in Baytown and she uses the sea glass in her class as well as information about the boats in the harbor to broaden her students education about the world. She is light to Lance's dark.

This was a wonderful story and I loved both characters. There was action and intrigue in the story as Jade gets caught up in something sinister after finding a dead body while she was out looking for sea glass on the beach.

Lance is an alpha male and protects Jade when she is targeted. They love story develops rather quickly as each layer is peeled away from their lives. They have a lot in common but some differences as well. The sea glass works it's magic again.

I love reading the description of Baytown and the people in it. Mr. Jordan's descriptive writing makes me want to find the real town that the fictional Baytown is modeled after.

I can't wait to read the next story. I am hooked on the Baytown Boys only now they are men!

This is the first book in the Baytown Boys series I’ve read. I am so torn about this book! It’s not the first in the series, but it’s ok. It stands alone really well. You get a sense of who the other characters in previous books as well as meeting the main ones of this book.

Where I’m torn is I didn’t like Jade at all. Honestly, I didn’t really like Lance that much either. I also didn’t feel like they connected well. From the first meeting, which didn’t go so well, to the end, it was hard for me to like them.

Personally, I didn’t feel like Jade was real. I wanted to see some real life frustration in her job. Add in how halfway through the book we finally get some details as to why Jade and her parents don’t get along. Add in Lance’s similarities with his parents and it was too contrived for me.

Here’s where I’m torn, even though I didn’t like Jade or Lance, I did like the overall story of the book. While I usually like Maryann Jordan’s writing style, I felt overwhelmed with the amount of detail that went into everything. So all in all, I’m giving it really a 3-4 star review. Just because I’m torn. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I requested and received an ARC of this book I am reviewing of my own volition.

Ah, once again I am starting a series at the end and not the beginning. From the opening pages I fell in love with this seaside town. Maryann's descriptions put me on the beach, with the breeze filling my senses.

Lance as we first meet him is really a jerk. He wants his privacy but oversteps his bounds, in the process, embarrassing and scaring Jade away from the beach. The art he creates, although I can't actually see it, I can picture in my mind. The pieces of sea glass suspended by intricate wires, moving in the air, sparking like a rainbow.

Jade in my opinion has the patience of a saint, and I loved her right away. Her strength and devotion to her teaching is inspiring. Her friends are loyal and supportive.

I truly loved the way this relationship develops, the slow chiseling Jade does to the walls around him.

But not all is so peaceful in this small seaside town, as murder and mayhem ensues.

Filled with suspense, love, and friends this is a book you won't be able to put down.

I am going back to the beginning of this series to meet the others in this book in more detail.

I adore this series. The whole concept of Baytown fascinates me. The boys returning as war heroes from different branches of the military, to the girls who love them. Each story is poignant and has its own individual heartache but these two held and captured my attention very quickly. Jade is the quintessential quiet school teacher with a huge heart. Lance is the damaged former Military MP. Together they find their family situation and background is similar, both come from a privileged life but both sets of parents care more about image than them. Jade eases Lance’s heart and helps him deal with his nightmares. Lance makes Jade feel safe and protected. It sounds simple but the way this book progresses is heartwarming and beautiful. You can feel their pain and joy. Of course this series wouldn’t be complete without the danger each couple faces. This one being from within their own community. It rocks the town and is ingenuous. I couldn’t put this book down. Highly recommend this book and series.

I want to live in baytown!!!!

Picking up the pieces is another great read from Maryann!! I really love this baytown series! I love the little town and everything about it in these books!! This one is about Lance and Jade, lance definitely always stayed to himself ,a quiet loner while jade is an elementary teacher. This story had a little bit of everything!! It has danger angst drama and of course it was hot!!! Lol it dealt a lot with my favorite, sea glass!! One of these days me and my bestie are going on a road trip and we will be going to Maryann's "baytown" so if she happens to see two Weirdo's all geeked out on sea glass jumping up and down freaking out on this quaint little town, just wave and keep on moving!! We will eventually move on! Lmao I did receive this book as an arc for my honest review and as always you will definitely get my honest opinion cuz if I don't like a book I have no problem telling you! I will do it in a nice way but I'll definitely tell you! Lol thank you Maryann Jordan for another great great read!!! Can't wait for more!!!
