3 STAR READ, I LOVE BOOKS WITH A BIT OF GRIT, DARK AND DIRTY, BUT THERE IS A FINE LINE BETWEEN, DARK AND TOTAL ABUSE,
I read Obsession in an anthology and then downloaded this. It is full of twists and turns around who were the bad guys and who were the good guys, which kept it feeling well paced.
Carter – not my favorite heroine – she’s 19 now in some countries this is still supposed to be a child, not in the UK it’s not, and she veers between acting like a 16 year old and a 30 year old – she gave me whiplash.
However, she took a lot of physical abuse as well and forgave it all, good girl style. Vladimir has his hot guy moments, but blaming his bad behavior on drinking – while it make sense to let the couple move forward – in real life, drunks amplify their behavior, or speak a sober man’s words, to many times now in these books women are been abused and they turn around and forgive their abusive behavior, because ” THEY LOVE THEM” in my estimation his abusive side should have been a fundamental character flaw. Alcohol removes the inhibitions from behavior sizzling beneath the surface. I thought it was a lame way for the author to allow Carter to forgive him. Everyone Carter interacted with abused her in some way. And yet the chipper cheery 19 year old was like the punching bag clown that bounces right back up. So, she was either super resilient, or super stupid. And that downgraded this read for me.
ABUSE IS ABUSE no matter how you tie it up in a neat little bow and try to pass it off as romance, it doesn’t wash with me. She was a young impressionable woman, not a pinch bag
Wow what a series the only thing I can fault is there's no more books to read I loved it brilliant characters and amazing story line well worth a read xx
Okay I read book 1 before selecting the set as my next download. Let me just say the story pulled me in and kept me on the edge of my seat. I was trying to be Carter in book 3 and hold on to hope that Vladimir would come home. It was hard to not skip to end and pray for a happy ending. I held strong and read as her crazy life turned to somewhat stable and normal routine motherly things. Was so proud of Carter that she told Dimitri she loved him but she would forever be I love with Vladimir. He was another shining star in this rollercoaster ride.
The ultimate story of true love was that of Carter and Vladimir.
I got this set since the reviews were decent, but honestly, as much as I hate to say this, there were so many times k almost gave up on this book. My biggest gripe was with Carter. I hated how she constantly got brave to do something and not even two seconds later either backed out of it and played the victim. It was, "hey, I'm a badass, I'm going to save myself!" Only to start crying a second later because she couldn't handle the stress or fight.
I hated Boris. He started off being somewhat decent to her, then became an abusive jerk, then ended up being the doting "grandpa"
I so desperate to love this book but I honestly feel I just wasted four days.
Wow, normally read Mafia documentary or Biography's and was recommended Russian Tattoos awhile back. Read all the books in the collection and a part of me wished they had continued. They were so good that one can't put them down as your afraid you miss something. Highly recommend these as just a way to get away and relax. Well worth buying and reading! Will be reading again soon as there were many twists and turns.
This is one of the best series I've read this year. Carter will keep you on your toes she can't stay out of trouble. The relationship she has with Vlad is a rollercoaster ride for sure. I had a love hate relationship with Boris, but overall this series was a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend it
I had my ups and downs reading this. Out of the three, I wasn’t too keen on the third book. By then it was just dragging and a bit too far fetched. It took me a while to get used to Carter and I felt same as Boris and cheered in my head that he didn’t fall for her stupid immaturity. I wasn’t happy with what happened to Yuri and how it was just forgotten about.
I loved the dominant male and the women who grows into herself to become a strong and tough persona. Carter struggled with life and loving a man who is in the mob . Beautifully written
This series was different than anything I have read before, and was my first time reading this author m. This series definitely has cliff hangers if you don’t read them all together. I loved the writing style and how these characters developed as the books went on.
Fell in love with a few hot Russians! I totally enjoyed the drama, intrigue, romance and adventure in this series! It is what every young woman wants and every old one ( me ) wishes she could go back and find!Great read.
For me, This is not a love story. It kind of reads like a journal of an abusive relationship. Not much plot and the spice was there but not super descriptive and short. Like only a few paragraphs.
OH. MY. GOD. This series is definitely gonna be something I go back and read multiple times! Their story is so different and messed up on so many levels but their love is true and strong and I love it so much!
Very enjoyable read but the ending was a tad unbelievable, quite a let down considering the turmoil that you were taken to throughout the book. I was left surprised and disappointed with the ending.
This book was better than I expected! I love the characters. The girl kept doing stupid things and that was kind of annoying, but really thoroughly enjoyed. Great read.
I really enjoyed reading this series. I wasn't too sure how much I'd like it at first, because honestly I thought Carter was a bit annoying and overly naive in the first part of the first book. It didnt take too long though for her to grow into her role. It was fun watching the relationship of Carter and Vladimir grow and change thru the series. And of course, we can't leave out Boris! My feelings about him were so conflicted, I couldn't decide if I liked him or not, if he was good or bad. He was a very complex man! And we saw Carter grow and change and mature a lot thru the books. She went from a naive overprotected little girl, to a strong, fierce and loyal woman. This was a really good series, and I am sure I'll be reading more from this author!
