Carole Loring lifted her eyes to the ivy-covered walls of the old mansion. Her heart was pounding almost out of her body. Normally she had no fear of the darkness, but now the blackness pressed upon her. Suddenly a powerful searchlight caught her in its blinding glare. Panicked, she turned to flee, but in seconds Max's cruel hands were on he arms. A Romantic mystery novel by Bea Carlton, author of the best-seller, In the House of the Enemy.
Bea Carlton's passion for writing began early in life. High school journalism and English classes received the most attention (and the best grades) from this aspiring writer. Following her instincts, she pursued writing into adulthood. Now a well-established and long-time successful writer, her novels weave a rich blend of mystery, adventure, romance and faith. The fruitful results of her efforts have been 13 published novels and 3 puppetry books and avidly loyal readers. Her books have proved to be immensely popular.
Her first two novels were "best sellers" for the publisher. The first book, In the House of the Enemy, has been recorded on audio tapes for the visually handicapped by the Society for the Blind.
She speaks regularly at various clubs and writers' groups. She periodically writes articles for regional newsletters and magazines.
Serving as a pastor's wife (though husband Mark passed away in May 2011), Bea Carlton found puppetry to be a very effective aid in support of her husband's work. After taking a workshop on puppet making, she was hooked! Using puppets in Bible studies and church meetings, she ended up writing most of her own plays. She draws on her valuable ministry contact with people for inspiration in writing her play scripts. At one time she felt that puppetry would be too difficult to do. She now shares her enthusiasm and experience so that You Can Do Christian Puppets and love it, too!
It seems that Linn in the other series and Carol in this one have something in common. They are way more adventurous than I am! But even when things got scary and crazy, I love how this book worked out. The best thing we all can do at any time is share the love of Jesus, even to someone who is a potential enemy. Very well done!
This is one of my all time favorite books in High School reading Romantic Suspense. I even have the copy without the title where there was a naming the book contest. Still, I have it on my shelf today!
