Elemental Dragons #4
The Dragon's Charm
It was crazy. How could people be so cruel to them? Maybe they really did deserve it... Morgan wasn't sure what to think, but she did know that there was something larger going on between the Guardians of Existence and the Dragons in Nebraska. She just wasn't sure what. Regardless, whatever it was, she didn't like it. Along with all the prejudice that the Guardians were creating towards the dragons, she knew something had to be done... but what?
Even though Kenji knew of the bond between Quinn and Isaac it still hurt him to think about it. For years, he was so sure that there was something between Quinn and himself, after realising the truth his whole life had turned upside down... maybe he just wasn't fit for a mate?
This is book 4 in the Elemental Dragons series. A spin off of Emilia's Fated Dragons series, it can be read as a standalone, however it is best read in series.
Warning: This series contains lots of sexy shifter action, irresistible mates and steamy love scenes. Tons of mouth watering Paranormal Romance bonus content included!

The only bad thing about devouring a book as soon as you get it is that it is over so quickly and you are left having to wait for the next book in the series to arrive to see what happen next. Morgan made the mistake of making the statement that the dragon's were people too. Just trying to get along in the world. To a room that for the most part saw dragon shifters as monsters. When she get home that evening she finds her apartment destroyed and her possessions in shattered pieces and rags. She grabs the money she has hidden under the mattress and flees to the dragon embassy. Thinking she will be safe. There she see the Asian Dragon man she saw on television earlier outside the courthouse. As they look at one another the verdict in the dragon's case against the GOE (Guardians of Earth) is announced. The GOE won, All the evidence and testimony ignored. Morgan begins to once again question if perhaps the town's people were right about them and the dragons had manufactured everything in hopes of damaging the human government.
Kenji is furious, but is working to control his anger as he watches the woman he is strangely drawn to quickly leave. Curious as to why a human was at the American Dragon Embassy he follows her and is just in time to save her from being attacked by humans. He brings Morgan back to the Dragon Territory to keep her safe for the night. Kenji thought he had found his mate once before, but was wrong. Now he has his mate close, but she wants nothing to do with dragons and only desires to get her life back and leave. Everything is about to change the following day.
This is the fourth book in the series and can be read as a stand alone as there is enough background provided to help you understand past evens. Although I recommend reading this series from the start to get a fuller picture. I would even go and start with the Fated Dragons to see who the world learns about shifters and why they are feared so much. Although humans choose to recall only half the story. Learn what the GOE has been up to and the dragon's fight for recognition and to be treated fairly. The GOE has not learned its lesson and is up to its old tricks, and a few new ones. This story will keep you on your toes and Morgan and Kenji fight to stay alive, The dragon's show the GOE lied and are still lying. From beginning to end you held in the palm of Emilia Harley's world. as her words draw you into the fight and you will have to choose a side.
My rating of "The Dragon's Charm - Elemental Dragons Book 4" is 4.75 out of 5 stars.

Morgan is a waitress at a busy diner. Her customer was upset at the “monsters” on the TV, referring to the trial between the Guardians of Existence (GOE) – a worldwide organization supposedly protecting humans from the supernatural -- and dragons who claimed GOE was experimenting illegally on them. More joined in, hating the dragons. And Morgan made the mistake of commenting that maybe what the dragons claimed was true, and smiling on TV, the dragons seemed to her like they were just people. Her customer squeezed her wrist so tightly it hurt and she pulled away.
The Territory leader’s mate wanted to start a joint task force with dragons and a few trusted human members and asked Kenji about organizing and leading the dragons. She wanted to show humans that the dragons only wanted to help.
That evening, exhausted after an extra shift, Morgan returned home, only to find that her apartment had been broken into and everything she owned was damaged or destroyed. She knew it was because she had not joined the hate group at the diner and they had retaliated. But instead of being afraid, she knew what she had to do.
Seeing a little more of both sides’ points of view, where will Morgan’s loyalties lie? Could she ever fall in love with a dragon? Or will she play it safe and pursue her career dreams? Will Kenji continue trying to protect her? Having won against the dragons in court, what are GOE’s plans now?
I love dragon stories, and this was a good one. There are so many directions the story line can take the reader! What an exciting path it leads us down!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I have read all of Emilia Hartley's books that are available on Kindle and am a fan of her writing and the genres that she writes about. In The Dragon Charm, we are introduced [if this is your first book by her] to Morgan, a human, and to Kenji who is the chief dragon in the town and on duty in the Dragon Embassy. I obviously have "met" him before in a previous book and I must say that I really like him in this episode whereas I wasn't too fussed with him before. Kenji had thought previously that he had lost his mate to another and was heartbroken about it thinking that he wasn't worthy of a fated mate. But whilst on duty this stunning human walks past him and with one look he knows that he really has met his fated Mate and it's the human that running away from him! There are sub plots within the main story and the dragon shifters are illegally being experimented on for nefarious purposes. The Guardians of Existence and the Dragons in Nebraska are not living peacefully with one another and there is danger. This story can certainly be read as a standalone although to understand many of the characters you don't have the full picture of who and what they are. This is a classic example of how good a writer Emilia is and why she is so popular.

The dragons have gone through with their case against the Guardians of Existence. It is in all the news. Morgan is a waitress at the local diner and she is one of the few that doesn't seem to hate dragons. She is afraid of them but she believes they have the same rights as people. Morgan makes the mistake of speaking in defense of the dragon shifters at work and is verbally abused at work. To make matters worse, when she goes home she finds her apartment has been destroyed. Not knowing what else to do, she goes to the dragon embassy.
Kenji is an important dragon. He was in love with a fellow dragon until she meet her fated mate. Now he is at loose ends. He is given the job of liaison with the humans. He is to help stop dragon problems with humans before the Guardians have to step in. One day he finds Morgan being attacked by two young males and rescues her. He is drawn to Morgan and his dragon wants to claim her but Morgan is afraid of shifters. She keeps trying to leave him to return to her home. Kenji is afraid he is destined to live his life alone since his mate is running away from him.
This is a good stand alone novel but it is best read in order. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

I was very nervous to read about Kenji because I disliked him so much in the last book. I hated what he did to Quinn. Even though he is not my favorite dragon, I still was able to see him through a new pair of eyes. He just wanted his mate so bad that he thought what he had was it. I like that he was able to see that he was so wrong and move past it. I still wish after he found his mate, that he would have sat down with Quinn and Issac separately to truly apologize for hindering their bond. Yes, he semi apologized before but not before knowing what it felt like to have a mate. I think he would have looked even better in my mind if he did that. Anyway...Morgan was an alright heroine. She didn't totally stand out to me, and she did annoy me sometimes with her prejudice towards the dragons, but she started to learn about them and formed her own opinion...which helped me like her a little more. Anyway...even though these two were not my favorite, I still absolutely love this series. Can't wait for the next one.

This was Kenji's story and I was eagerly awaiting this one. His partner, Morgan, was actually a good match for him. I did feel like they didn't truly end up on the same page, even in the end, but they were on their way there, so that was good. I had quite a few moments where I got choked up on Kenji's behalf. He was trying so hard to find his place, to become a version of himself and couldn't do it on his own. Morgan was trying to make her place, to attain her dream but could do with a little support. Together they could achieve all of that but life kept getting in the way of their future as individuals and as mates. The GOE are ramping up their efforts in dragon domination and manipulation and it seems, throughout most of this book, that they just might succeed. With modern technology and a few individuals who aren't afraid to stand up and speak out against injustice, they find that a peaceful future just might be possible. Overall, this story was quite dramatic and had a very hopeful outcome.

Emilia is a wonderful storyteller! She continues her story about the American Dragon Territory and the evil-yes, I said evil-Guardians of Existence. The Territory takes the GOE to court to hold them accountable the terrible treatment the dragons received from them. Kenji is now a member of the Territory and has been asked to head a task force to help the dragons who are in trouble. Morgan is a waitress who is not crazy about the dragons living in her town, but she stands up for them when one of the older regulars makes a statement against them. The anti-dragon members of the town suddenly decide that she is sleeping with them. Kenji tries to help her when her apartment is trashed and Liana gives her the tiny shack to stay in. The GOE wins the trial and begins to build a well around the Territory to keep the dragons from leaving the area. It turns out that the GOE did not win the verdict by honest means. Enjoy the story!

I really liked Morgan and Kenji. She tries to do what is right even when it involves danger and risk. She doesn't sit back when she sees the hate against dragon shifters. Kenji still is healing his broken heart. He thought he had found his mate but she had someone else that was meant for her. These feelings for a human woman surprise him. He doesn't want his heart broken again.
Morgan and Kenji have an intense attraction and others notice right away. They both are afraid of being hurt and alone but they also can't ignore the feelings they have. I like that you get both of their point of views so it feels more intimate.
The author really shows how destructive hate can be and how its is up to everyone to stake a stand against injustice.
I highly recommend you read the whole series to get the most enjoyment but you could read this as a standalone.

Morgan is a waitress in a diner and she gets into problems because of a slip of her tongue in favour of the dragons.
Kenji is a dragon who feels he doesn’t belong. He feels lonely and sad and has been badly tortured by the Guardians of Existence.
A story about how to manipulate the citizens by telling lies until some of them realize everything is just a fat, big lie.
I like Kenji. He is honest and loyal. I like Morgan also but sometimes I feel like shaking her to behave better with Kenji. After so many lies about the dragons, it is normal she is afraid of them and she doesn’t trust them. However, she feels that something is odd and little by little she starts seeing the truth. I like how she stands by the dragons, defending and protecting them.
Emilia has done a great job with this book, short but long enough to develop the story and the characters.

I have voluntarily read each of the books in this series and happy to have done so. Hartley is a wonderful storyteller and knows how to capture her audience. Though there are no cliffhangers between books you will still want to start at the beginning since many of the characters mentioned have their own stories and get mentioned in each book going forward. I was prepared not to like Kenji since he tried to force a mating on Quinn in the last book, but then reading this book showed me that being as broken as he was from being a lab rat for the GOE. He just wanted someone he could call his own, and Morgan was it. However, even she was being ostracized by the humans in her hometown because of a few innocent comments she had made. Talk about a emotional roller coaster here. You really need to read this series as it comes at a different angle than anything I’ve read before regarding dragons.

This was a great fourth book in the series and I have to say I as gutted that it was the last as I felt there were so many more Dragons we could learn about. There was plenty packed into this book with times were I thought the Dragons were at the end of the road and were not going to get their freedom. It was great to see Kenji was the main character and we got to see him start to move on with his life and find out there is a mate out there for him and he can find love. I thought Morgan was a great character and enjoyed seeing her develop from a unsure woman to knowing exactly what she wants and will stand up for that. Definitely are park your but down and get ready for a great read book, but I always find that with Emilia's books as she writes such great stories.

A very well written book with likeable characters. I like the storyline and plot. It is a different story than I use to read but absolutely most positive. It is a shifter story with humans and dragons. I like the characters, Kenji and Morgan, they are well described and develops nicely. Their chemistry is amazing. The story flows nicely.
It is the fourth in the series and it can be read as a standalone. But I think it would be good to have read the previous because of the story and the characters that comes back in this one.
There are twists in this story that makes it turn to a whole new point that expected. It has chemistry, passion, emotional ups and downs and some drama in it.
I can only recommend this if you like shifter romances.

Kenji and Morgan
He is a dragon shifter and she works as a waitress trying to build up enough money to start her own ceramic shop. The dragons are on the news and she makes a comment favoring the dragons and all hell breaks loose her apartment is trashed so she goes to the ambassey and runs into Kenji while watching the tv about the trail and see that the dragons lost she leaves but is detained by two human boys with a bat and they decide she is a dragon lover and needs a lesson. Kenji decideds to follow her and its a good thing.
I was hooked from word 1. If you like kick butt women, super hot and cheeky Alpha males, excitement and adventure then this book is for you.

This is not the first book of the series, but the one I read first so it was little confusing not to have most of the back story. I would definitely read the books of series before this one so that it is not confusing. The story as is was fairly entertaining and a little twist to the typical dragon shifter stories one would find. The story was fairly short so everything is little abbreviated, but there are enough paranormal romance and heat between the couple. I might have liked it much more if I had read other parts in the series. Voluntary and honest review after receiving ARC (advanced reader copy).

When Morgan made a comment at work, she never realized what the consequences would be. Ken is trying to find his place in the world. One look and the chemistry is off the charts, but Morgan is unsure. Will the dragons be able to fight back against the GOE? Will Morgan come to accept Ken?
Was excited to see Ken getting a book after reading about him with Quinn. Have to say that while in the book with Quinn it kind of irked me that he had lied, this book made me understand a little more. I did think that Morgan lived in a fantasy world at times, but was proud that she came around and stood up for what she believed in. Good read!

Loved Morgan and Kenji's story !! Morgan is a hunan waitress tgat has never really thought much about the dragons or how they lived. Kenji is a survivor of the Government's torture and experimentation. The two must come together in order to save the dragons freedom and break down the walks the Government wants to keep them locked behind. 4⭐'s for a well written, interesting, sexy addition to the series. This was The best book in the series so far to me.
Morgan - a Human that was cornered by her concerns toward Dragons. She was targeted by Humans and GoE. She was rescued by sexy Dragon. And she started to have feelings for him, but she can't be with him- he needs a Dragon lady. But is that true?
Kenji - he is Dragon. I really liked his character and that he could make Morgan feel better than some week Human.
To it let's add fight with GoE and case in court.
I hope There will be more books in this Series.

Awesome action, sexy shifters and a love that hits Kenji like a Mack truck is what makes this book so enjoyable. I am glad that Kenji finally found that special person, he is such a wonderful character that he deserves happiness. Morgan’s first meeting with Kenji is unexpected but when he helps her out of a dangerous situation, her feelings begin to grow. Her heart knows what her head does not. Such a great storyline, it was hard to put the book down. I would recommend this one to other lovers of shifter stories.

Love these dragons. Another great addition to fun and romantic dragon shifter series. Glad to see Kenji finding his mate. And what a wonderful woman she is. It will take some work on his part to convince a human that a dragon is her fated mate. And GOE is going far beyond their normal hatred to the group. Recommend this book and series to all PNR readers.

I loved the book, it’s about prejudiced humans against dragons and the lengths that they will go to to do harm to them. I loved the characters , the sassy female who doesn’t know what to think about the Dragons and the male dragon who’s too scared to tell her that she is his mate. A great book to read if u love Dragons.

Differences and injustice. They can bring people to their knees. When injustices are brought to everyone's attention, they can be greatly slowed. You can find love and understanding with an open mind and open heart. Morgan and Kenji stop pulling away. They open their hearts and minds.

Kenji finally gets his chance at his fated mate he had pretty much given up on such a thing after Quinn.
Like the rest of these books I enjoyed the story that is drawing very close to end somebody has got to get the GEO to be responsible for their actions and this story sees their cases going to court.
I won’t elaborate on this because it’s best if you read/ listen to this book.
