I love second chance books. Shattered Daddy is a second chance book. Brooke and Anthony grew up together and when they started college they went there separate ways and lost contact. After all these years they see each other again, there back to begin friends. I don’t want to give to much away just know I give Shattered Daddy 4 stars I recommend this book.

Fantastic book! As usual, Charlize Starr doesn't disappoint. Brooke and Anthony were best friends for years, but lost touch while at college. Now he's coming back home with a son and he's a billionaire! Brooke is trying to figure out what to do to make sure her sister doesn't get in trouble. She was attacked and almost killed, defended herself by shooting and killing the attacker. Brooke's ex-boyfriend who is a total loser thinks it was Brooke that did it because he walked in and saw Brooke with the gun. He's stalking and threatening to go to the police unless Brooke pays him off. Anthony and Brooke reunite and sparks fly. They spend lots of time together and realize they care more for each other than friendship. Anthony knows something is going on but can't get Brooke to tell him the truth. She finally asks him to loan her $50,000 but won't tell him why except that it will fix all her troubles. This book is a wild roller coaster ride full of friendship, family, loyalty, blackmail, hot sex, second chances and suspense. Will Anthony and Brooke find their way to happily ever after? Will Brooke be able to save her sister and herself? I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I read this book as part of an arc program. This was the story of Brooke and Anthony. They were childhood best friends who parted ways when they graduated high school. On the night of their prom. they signed a promise to each other that they would marry if they were both single at the age of thirty. Twelve years later, Anthony is a self made billionaire who is raising a small son alone after his wife died. Anthony decides to leave New York and move home where he reconnects with Brooke. Anthony and Brooke are both secretly in love with each other and when the promise to marry is brought up, they decide to joke about doing it, with both unwilling to back down. Brooke is also dealing with an ex-boyfriend who is blackmailing her about her involvement with a shooting. Brooke is trying to protect everyone and when Anthony asks her what she is hiding, she is too scared to tell him. This was a good second chance romance that also had secrets and danger for Brooke. Good one.

Quite a yummy little quickie. Anthony is moving back to town after years away. He wants to raise his little boy in the small town he grew up in. Of course, there is more to the story than that, but let's not give it all away. In that small town is his best friend, Brooke. She and he had the best times either can remember, but lost touch. Can they rekindle the friendship? Is there more to what they've always shared than just being friends? That's the simple part of the story. The more involved parts have to do with Jeff, Brooke's ex and her sister, Autumn. Will there be enough when all of that is taken care of for the friendship to flourish, or has she ruined it by needing him in a way that he might not accept? Will he be able to look past what she's done?

Starr gives us a fast paced, quick read with this friends to lovers romance. There's plenty of steam and fun times between Anthony and Brooke, but there's also the added element of suspense with a dead body and blackmail. The couple has known each other their whole lives and fall right back into their easy friendship when Anthony moves back to town. Of course, things escalate quickly in the relationship, but it's not the instalove that is seen so frequently in quick reads.
While I would've preferred a bit more development on the suspense side of things, the story is entertaining and held my interest. It's worth the read and in my opinion, the best book that I've read by this author to date.

They made a pact as teenagers and now he is back. She has a bigger problem to deal with first as her ex is blackmailing her. Will she share her secret? Will he be able to protect her?

This is a quick read with lots of action from the beginning. Anthony and Brooke are friends who have lost touch over the years. Now, he is back with his son and realizes something is wrong with his friend. I liked the characters and how protective they are of those they care about. There is a genuineness to their feelings for each other. Even with all the years separated, feelings fall back in place.

Shattered Daddy by Charlize Starr is an entertaining second chance contemporary romance. This book is written in first person, alternating point of view, not my favorite, but that's a personal preference. Ms. Starr has given us a well-written book loaded with fantastic characters. Anthony and Brooke were best friends growing up. Anthony moves back to town with his son. Brooke is being stalked and blackmailed. Their story is full of drama, action, sizzle and humor. I enjoyed this story and would happily read more from Charlize Starr in the future. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Brooke is being stalked and harassed by her ex who happened to see Brooke witha gun and a dead body.. the guy was shot by Brookes sister in self-defense... blackmailing brooke.. worried about that she runs into her long lost Best friend who has moved back into town with his son.. dinners and joke about a old wedding pack..they grow closer together but Brookes ex is making things harder and harder for her... can she confess and ask Anthony for help.. Or is she going to take the fall for her sister?!?!

This is a really great friends to lovers story with a dash of danger. Brooke and Anthony were best friends growing up. Anthony is now billionaire single dad returning to his hometown to raise his son. The two pick their friendship up like they had never been apart. Brooke has a secret that has put her in danger. Will that danger come between her and Anthony? What about the "wedding contract" they signed on their prom night- is it really a legal contract?

A short and fast read. You get captured from the first sentence.
A relationship as Anthony and Brooks had as children/teenagers and later on as adults, is something that a lot of us could only wish for.

Great read. Romance, dead bodies, family and so much more. It is exciting, fun, suspenseful, mysterious, sexy and so much more. An edge of your seat enjoyable read. They agreed to marry if they were both single at 30. She has a dead body because of her sister and an ex. And they story just get fun from there. I recommend it. I enjoyed reading this book, I found it so hard to it put down. A love story like Anthony and Brooke is only written in the stars. Most of David brings it all home by being himself and taking an instant liking to Brooke and vice versa.This is a quick, fun, rekindling love story of two soul mates distended to have their forever afte.

Life in the fast lane

I had to read this one in one sitting. Brooke and Anthony really have a lot to catch up on from being away from each other so many years. The action, romance, and heart in this story was off the charts! That ending was absolutely amazingly beautiful!
