Just because you're beautiful, rich and popular doesn't mean you're immune... Kristi Bronwyn is having the time of her life. A month shy of her eighteenth birthday, she's already been accepted to one of the best Ivy League Universities in the country, her social life is the envy of most teenage girls, and best of all, her best friend from childhood has moved back to town and they've rekindled their friendship with a twist. The Brandon who moved away was a kid, but this new hot guy looks like he just stepped off the pages of a glossy magazine. Her friends all envy her, but Kristi knows that no one could ever break the bond of their friendship that had been formed when they were kids, to destroy the new love they now have for each other. And then one day she wakes up in a strange room in a strange house with no memory of how she got there, and things just go downhill from there.

I love this story.I wasn't sure if I would like this book, but once I started reading I couldn't put it down. So no matter the pen name Jordan Silver always manages a powerful book

I would have liked this better if they hadn't used sex as a means of therapy for the heroine's trauma over a supposed rape and social media exposure.

Plus her stance on taking it easy on her fellow students that set up her for a possible rape, exposure on social media and an attempt to ruin her life resulting in attempted suicide was pathetic. Fine she doesn't want retribution, but let the courts suss it out.

Why do authors create heinous situations for their heroines then have the heroines blanket forgive damaging felonious acts? In real life this empowers people to keep doing it. What a fail.

Too much telling instead of showing. I did like the bulldozery hero after he pulled his head out of his ass.

This book was written by Cami York which is a pseudonym for Jordan Silver. In my opinion it’s similar to her Eden High Series which I really wish she would finish. Kristi was the queen of Shelton High School, head cheerleader ; most popular, lots of friends, and loving parents who spoiled her. She met Brandon when they were three years old, he lived across the street and the two of them became inseparable. Unfortunately Brandon’s dad got a promotion and they moved to NYC and Kristi lost her best friend. Brandon moved back to his old house the summer before their junior year and the two of them picked up where they left off. Two weeks after he moved back their relationship changed from friends to boyfriend and girlfriend. Now Kristi is months away from graduating, madly in love with Brandon, and excited that they’ll both be going to the same university next year. Some people are jealous of Kristi and everything she has so they do something horrible causing Brandon to turn his back on her. Kristi can’t remember what happened that night and everyone at school is shunning her including Brandon. Kristi is devastated that Brandon doesn’t believe her and her parents don’t know what’s going on so she’s all alone. When the unthinkable happens and Kristi is lying unconscious in a hospital bed will the truth of what happened that night be revealed ?

It's been a while since I've read a YA/NA book, but I was curious once I heard this was Jordan Silver. The story kept me interested, and I liked how she handled the deeper subject matter. If she keeps writing stories like this under this name, I hope she gives us one similar to Talon's Heart. That is my absolute favorite book from her! ;)

This book is written by Jordan Silver. Cami York is her pseudonym. Honestly, I have a love hate relation with Jordan Silver. She writes these ott heroes and takes us in their mind. Sometimes it's really annoying to read a guys thoughts the way this author writes. But this book was not bad and not good either. This one reminded me of Talon's Heart.

Boy and girl are best friends from childhood. They fall in love. Some people are jealous of their relationship. The girl gets caught in a photo scandal and the boy stops talking with her. No longer able to face the shame the girl tries to suicide but is saved. This opens the guys eye and then they are back together but the guy is now an updated version of himself, no longer the sweet boy next door. Now he is on the quest to find the real culprit behind the photo which was obviously morphed. So who did that???

Overall I enjoyed this.

I don't even know how to put into words how awful this book is, let alone how angrybitnmade me. As someone who has lived through the suicide of a family member I can tell you this book makes everything seem about suicide trivial! I have never given a 1star in all the years I have been reading but this book deserves it.

This is not typical Cami York a.k.a. Jordan Silver's book. This one was absolutely emotional. Roller coaster of emotion if I may say.

So here's the main plot:
Kristi is a senior high school girl, a very popular and also a cheerleader who date the hottest guy at school. One incident, her world turning upside down and she basically alone. No bestfriend, no boyfriend, no nothing.

Another incident bring the boyfriend back to her with all of his regrets and all Kristi's disappointment.

Yes, you may slap the boyfriend now.

What I love this book was the emotion of the character which is so thick you can cut it with butter knife.
Kristi was... weak and strong heroine at the same time and it was absolutely painful to read her story.
And Brandon, the boyfriend, hm... I can see that he was regretting what he done to her girl and pay that his whole life!!
Just love this such a heart-wrenching story.

Once again another phenomenal book you wrote.

I absolutely love the characters and the story behind how sometimes you can have everything but be alone. Kristi felt her world crashing around her, a terrible prank, looking her heart Brandon. She wasn't weak she was not in right frame of mind. Needed help understanding why all this was happening to her. This topic brought up in this book is a tragic way for anyone to feel this is way and should show us People are not always just fine. I love how it was handled by the parents ,by the boyfriend. Expecally Kristi who didn't want to end it, yet came out stronger for her actions. She changed her outlook on life and help someone else who was thinking of doing same thing she did. It was a very touching, eye opener story. True love won out and brought out Brandon's real side. I look forward to you many more of your books

The Incident

I was skeptical at first because I’m used to reading her more erotic works, but I was pleasantly surprised with the way she toned it down for “younger” readers. After all, everyone deserves to be able to read books written by such an awesome author! Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet read!

Not my favorite genre

Despite the fact that I don't normally read YA/NA stories, I was very impressed with the way the author handled the situation. It was an emotional read and very realistic. The author wrote about a serious issue for today's society and while it is possible that the story could trigger someone; I would recommend reading this book for anyone who has felt unloved and alone.

Some heavy topics are discussed here and though I don’t have personal experience with being drugged or attempting suicide I thought the subject matter was handed very well

This started out great for me but just was a little too young adult for me. I almost felt like there was a suicide ideation as it relates to showing that if you try to commit suicide you can get your life back on track or atonement or I don't know. I can't explain it but I do remember my sixteen year old self thinking oh if I try and kill myself then people will feel bad and like me more or be sorry how they treated me. Juvenile teenage thoughts maybe but it just felt too lackadaisical about it. It was very immature writing but is that because she is trying to come across as that way? I don't know. But I did cry quite a bit. What happened to her was a nightmare and she has some terribly petty, evil friends. I saw a true story very similar to this on the ID channel but that young girl was successful in her suicide attempt after some boys did awful things to her when she passed out. The schoolkids treated her exactly like these teens did too. I'm just glad the girl in the story had a better aftermath after her attempt but I definitely don't want a young reader think that it is an answer is all I am trying to say. I am torn on the rating. And maybe if I was younger I would have scored it higher. I just felt it glossed over real hard issues but that is just me. personal opinion only and that Is from a senior citizen unfortunately.

According to Goodreads I read this book sometime last year. I honestly didn't remember reading it so I gave it another shot. Glad I did. It's somewhat reminiscent of Dangerously In Love and Passion both by Jordan Silver (Cami York is a pen name) in that there's a theme where our H becomes a real dick and turns his back on his girl, but then sees the error of his ways and sets about to make things right. Angsty. Once I started reading this one (again) it was kind of familiar, so I know I really did read it once before, and I'm glad I read it again. It is what it is and if you like Jordan Silver (especially the two books I mentioned above) then you'll probably like this one also.

I’m actually not really sure what sub genre of romance I would call this. The story follows Kristi and Brandon. They are childhood friends until he moves away for a few years. When he moves back, they reconnect as friends, and almost immediately begin a relationship. The book actually starts out with Kristi in a very low place. She is essentially being tormented at school. There was an incident that has occurred that we don’t have any details of just yet. Trigger warnings for this book. She attempts to self unalive. It is descriptive. This is a novella, so what happens at school is not very many pages until this attempt happens.

Once she is hospitalized, the police arrive to talk about what happened that led to this point and through their investigation, realize that she was clearly the victim in this. Brandon arrives once he hears what she has done, and also upon hearing from the police, that she is innocent, he begins to feel very guilty for ignoring her attempts to explain everything the last couple of weeks, but also ignoring what others were doing to her, as he chose to not step in to stop it.

Ultimately, the couple reconcile. She starts to work through healing from everything that happened. The MMC and her parents are loving and supportive, which is exactly what she needs. They do find out what really happened surrounding this incident, and the person who was to blame is arrested and sent to jail.

This book came about from someone where I asked for a recommendation for a couple who were friends, then went to high school, and he became part of the popular group while she became sort of like the loner, and he was a part of the group that essentially bullied her.

This book definitely didn’t hit that mark, other than the fact that the main characters started out as friends, because the MMC did not participate in any of the bullying that happened to the FMC.

I do believe this author is pretty new to writing. There were some grammar errors, and the writing isn’t spectacular, like it didn’t blow me away, but I also wasn’t mad at the story. It was very realistic. A little cringe at times, but overall it wasn’t really that bad.

I will admit I was a little nervous going into this one. After feeling burned by a few Jordan Silver pen name books, I was hesitant, but this story ended up being a really solid read. It very much fits the young adult emotional style she is known for, and in my opinion, she does that extremely well. I genuinely enjoy her storytelling in this lane.

There is a suicide related theme in this book, so that is something to be aware of before starting. The story begins right in the middle of everything, which I personally love because it hooks you immediately. For the first few chapters, you are not quite sure what is happening, and it definitely leads you to believe that cheating may have occurred. I kept reminding myself that this is a Jordan Silver style story and she is very anti cheating. Spoiler alert, no cheating actually happens.

Despite being a short read, this book packs a serious emotional punch. The pain felt very real, almost to the point where I could feel it myself. I even teared up a little while reading. It was deeply emotional, well done, and wrapped up with a satisfying ending. This was a very good read and one that surprised me in the best way.

I read this book in one sitting and wasn’t once bored. At the beginning I was intrigued on what had happened to Kristi. As the story progressed I wanted what happened to be revealed. It made it a little tough to stick with until what happened was revealed. I wanted to shout at Kristi that her friends weren’t in fact her friends. Friends don’t do that to friends. Even after everything, Kristi was the better person and didn’t want her so-called friends to be treated badly.
I had mixed feelings on Brandon. I understood that he felt betrayed by what he thought had happened. Despite that, he knew Kristi, he should have known what he thought had happened was out of character. When he started to hang around with Kristi and the truth was revealed, I thought Kristi forgave him too quickly.
I wanted to punch Jill in the face. The jealous cow.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an interesting read.

"The Incident" is a novella positively brimming with teenage angst.
High school queen bee Kristi is brought low after incriminating pictures of her are posted on the Internet. She had been drugged, can't remember what happened that night, and, of course, told no-one.
Worst of all her BFF forever and new boyfriend, Brandon, unceremoniously dumped her.
She's a pariah at school and she knows it is only a matter of time before everyone knows her shame - but there is another option, the coward's way out!
It's over the top when it comes to drama, the writing is sometimes flat, and sometimes phrases are used which should have been thought through (for example, "Once I learned that I hadn’t been robbed of my innocence" - the problem is that she has and she hasn't, it's one of the central planks of the novella.)
And her remaining 'innocence' is soon lost, energetically and repeatedly!
It all works out in the end.
It's a passable read but too formulaic.
