This book gave me a great insight on why i need to invest and trade my crypto, but unfortunately i got scammed of about $653,000 after i invested in a fake trading company. I tried all means to get it back myself, but none was working until i met grimray.com where professional cybersecurity agents helped me track and get back all that i lost, cheers.
I liked the first 80 pages of this book, but then the author introduced one crypto asset after another without tell us why he chose those assets. After looking at Coinmarketcap.com, it didn’t seem he was choosing them chronologically according to their rankings, so I’m not sure why he thought the few cryptocurrency’s he chose to cover stood out from all the hundreds of currencies out there.
Furthermore, he had trouble articulating a good description of Blockchain Technology; what he shared was true, but considering how much Blockchain Technology is going to change the world as we know it, he needed a much better description of this technology.
I’m glad I read the book, but I wish it were a bit more thorough. Oh well, it’s a learning process for all of us.
I wasn’t a fan of this book. It has a couple of chapters of a brief introduction then proceeds to give you a profile of a selection of individual coins. There’s not a whole lot of information about mining in there, I just didn’t find it that informative.
With the fluctuating nature of Bitcoin’s value, it’s best to get an understanding of cryptocurrency now, before you try and invest in it. That’s why I picked up a copy of Abraham K. White’s Cryptocurrency 2nd Edition: Mining, Investing, and Trading Bitcoin Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, Dash, Gridcoin, Iota, Digibyte, Dogecoin, Emercoin, Putincoin, Auroracoin and Others. This book, while not a light read, contains a lot of useful information for those looking into mining and/or investing in cryptocurrency, from the pros and cons of virtual money to the different kinds of cryptocurrency.
First off, I am not someone who is usually into this sort of thing. I’ve only been curious about it for its economic implications and how I might be able to benefit from it financially. I’m just about clueless about the technological aspects of the process. That’s why I had to re-read many sections of this book. It was no fault of White’s writing; his writing is smooth and uses as simple and straightforward a vocabulary as one can with this topic. Regardless, those of us without a computer science background (professional or amateur) should take our time digesting this material in order to fully understand it.
Still, White could have helped the reader’s understanding more with an improved book structure. While I agree with his method of framing the chapters on the different cryptocurrencies (rather than starting or ending with them), I don’t think he should end on a chapter about blockchains. The chapter is necessary, and I was glad to have it. (I could not understand the concept at all without it, let alone evaluate the pros and cons of the system.) However, I would have loved it earlier in the book so that I could have more knowledge of the system before reading about the different cryptocurrency platforms. Having a conclusion discussing the writer’s personal thoughts on cryptocurrency would have also given the book a personal, advice-like touch and tie the entire book together.
The best part of this book is that it’s not just a how-to guide to investing and/or mining cryptocurrency. It’s also a history of the entire industry, from its beginnings with Bitcoin to the several cryptocurrency platforms which have emerged in recent years. This history made the book much more interesting, and it was easier to get a feel for the appeal of virtual money.
Overall, White’s book is an essential guide to this rising trend. With cryptocurrency’s value currently going down, it might be a wise idea to invest in it while it’s more affordable. If the discussions in Cryptocurrency are any indicator, this lull is only temporary. Yet before you can properly invest, you need to read White’s work and make a judgment as to which cryptocurrency is the best bet for you. I don’t know if I’ll be taking the time and money to do this, but I’m glad to have a better understanding of the trend.
Due to all of the recent talk about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, I have become to be very interested in the subject matter, but I am a complete novice. I hoped that Cryptocurrency by Abraham K. White would help me to get an insight, and I am happy to say that it did make this new territory a little less daunting. I found this book profoundly interesting and engaging despite my lack of knowledge. It was nice to not just learn about the details of each type of cryptocurrency, it also gave an insight on how it became to be in the first place.
Similar to learning about investing in the more traditional sense this book has opened my eyes to the possibility of investing in this type of digital currency and it's relevant in today's world. It was also interesting to realize that they are more than one version of cryptocurrency something I was not aware of until reading this book - which should tell you how much of a newbie I am when it comes to the subject matter. Yet I found that with the information that has now been presented to me I can make an informed future decisions if I would be considering investing in this type of currency. This is not just a book for someone who has never known anything about cryptocurrency before reading it but also for someone who already has some knowledge of the subject matter. Therefore, I think it is a wise addition to the book collection of anyone who is interested in getting serious about cryptocurrency.
It looks like the author has copy and paste this book from Reddit and others foruns. It doesn't look the book has pass through any editor for revision, considering the many misspelled words and broken phrases. I will give one extra start because it can help readers to know more about the alternative coins and their blockchains.
I’m new to the topic, so I have no reference to evaluate how valid the information is in today’s market. Although a 2017 version, references to the market are usually from 2010-2015. A very nice gathering of possible Cryptocurrencies of interest. Information is well organized.
Poorly written, the entire book exists of quotations. The author didn’t bother to remove repetitive statements. There is no real structure or original content.
Medium level book. Well written, and not overly technical. Clearly articulated the various merits and technological breakthroughs of the Cryptocurrency space. The glossary in back is great as well.
