His mahogany gaze haunts my waking hours. His touch ignites my dreams. I know him in intimate detail, but I’ve never laid eyes on him.
Until now.
I’ve always seen things I can’t explain, but the reality of Aidan in the flesh blindsides me. His presence is a captivating force I can’t fight. What’s worse…I don’t want to. He burrows under my skin and unearths my biggest secret, even as he hides his own demons.
Then he warns me away. Stubborn man.
I’m already in too deep, and if staying means I’m the next victim of the Hangman’s noose, then so be it. Not even the threat of a serial killer can keep me away.
Part one of a three-part serial, at approximately 30,000 words. Intended for mature audiences.

The first serial in a three part series, this book definitely grabbed my attention and kept me on the edge of my seat. At only about a hundred or so pages, this serial can be read in one sitting. Suspenseful and mysterious, it will keep you guessing the whole time. Of course, it is only the beginning of this story, so you can expect to be left hanging.
Mackenzie has seen glimpses of the future in her dreams ever since she was a little girl. When her dreams begin taking on a more sinister nature, she realizes that she's witnessing the crimes of a serial killer play out before they happen. As the bodies start adding up, the murderer continues to remain just out of her grasp. Her dreams taunt her, never revealing enough details to help her pinpoint the murderer, but just enough to torment her every night.
When a man that she's seen in her dreams for years walks into her life, she can't believe it. She is immediately taken with the handsome stranger. Also looking to bring the serial killer to justice, for his own personal reasons, Aidan and Mackenzie quickly form a bond.
However, the killer seems to be targeting Aidan and getting close to him might prove to be Mackenzie's biggest mistake. As the victims start getting close to home, Mackenzie worries that she is the killer's next intended victim.
Overall, I really enjoyed this suspenseful serial. It wasn't as dark as I had anticipated, with only a few mentions of the serial killer's crimes. I anticipate that the story will get much darker as it progresses, but so far the dark elements were limited to an impending sense of doom lurking in the background. I will definitely be continuing this series and can't wait to see how everything plays out. So far, a great start to this story.
I suppose I should talk about Epiphany, but to start out I'd like to talk about Gemma James. The queen of cliffhangers! She delivers such suspenseful stories with close calls, spine chilling situations, and white knuckle reading. I love her and I hate her all in the same breath!
Now for the book, Epiphany Part One. So I'd have to say this is a great intro to an awesome serial set. It has a little bit of everything. Suspense, tension, hilarity, great friendship, and even a little romance. I have to admit that after reading this one I literally wanted to throw my Kindle across the room... so have part two ready to go or you'll freak way the fuck out like I did. There's a serial killer on the loose. The police don't really have any leads and there's no rhyme or reason to his methods of killing at this point which is driving me in-fucking-sane!
Mackenzie is all kinds of awesomeness. She's young, she's gorgeous, and she dreams of real life events... like REALLY dreams (or has nightmares) about some scary shit. Seems to me that in itself would scare the shit out of me but not Mac, she embraces her gift. I firmly believe she uses her talent to help others even when she really doesn't want to. She's had a rough past but with time and good friends she's moving on. When she finally meets Aidan in the flesh and not in her dreams, things start to change for her. I'm not so sure the changes are welcomed or dreadful at this point but I'll keep reading and find out.
Aiden on the other hand is all kinds of fucked up. He's very mysterious and at the same time a little intimidating. I know he's hiding something, but what? The way Gemma describes Aiden to me feels like if you could look into his eyes you see so much pain and hurt swirling around. He's a man on a mission and nothing and no one is going to stop him from completing that task. Not Mac and definitely not the police.
Great supporting character cast... Six, oh Six... I love that chick! Everyone needs a girlfriend like her. She's someone who can take you from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds flat and have you giggling the whole time. Even that Christie was a great supporting character despite the fact that she was an uber bitch and I wanted to put Nair in her shampoo bottle. She just makes the story that much more interesting. Now for the rest of the gang... Brad, the Sheriff, and the rest of the crew that throw 'em back at The Pour House.. I can't wait to see what happens... squeeeee!
This opening novella is just right. The pacing is fast and pleasing. The dialogue flows with ease and the characters are very relatable. There is no climax just yet, you have to keep reading to get to that, but this build up is excellent and killing me by the way... Thanks Gemma!
ARC provided by Gemma for an honest review... I'm sure she just wanted to torture me... Thanks hooker!!!
I was provided an e-copy of this book for an honest review. It's easy to give an honest review when you love what you read!
I just finished and I cannot wait for the next installment of this series! Gemma keeps me turning the pages and anticipating what will happen next and when I think I know what is going on, she changes it!
Mackenzie is a student. She is an artist. She also has a deep secret. She sees things in her dreams. Not just things but murders. Aidan is new in town. He seems to pop up everywhere that Mackenzie is. What does he want? Murders begin to happen in their tiny town and Mackenzie learns some news about Aidan's past.
I love the mystery of the story. I love the dreams that she has. I am still very curious about the significance of the one drawing she did and the jewelry that is included in that drawing.
Thank you Gemma for another great read! I wasn't sure what to expect when this wasn't in the genre I am used to reading from you, but I loved it!
I really loved this book, it's a very well written and easy to read book. I was hooked immediately from page 1, the story revolves around a serial killer and a young woman named Mac who has dreams of the killings, she also has had dreams of a handsome young man over the years and she wasn't sure he was real until she literally runs into him one night. she feels connected to him immediately. Its an exciting read that will have you guessing who is the Boise Hangman, I have a couple ideas of who it could be, im looking forward to seeing if I'm correct. Anxiously awaiting part 2 I can't wait to see what happens next. I'm really enjoying Mac and Aidan's budding romance too. Gemma James has become one of my all time favorite authors, she's not afraid to take a chance and break out of the norm.
I was provided an e-copy by the author for an honest review.
Mac is tormented by the dreams that shows her the Hangman´s murders. When another dream of her comes true, she doesn´t know what to do. Aidan is new in town, but Mac has seen him in her dreams before. Can she trust him? And what is his secret? Quick read, suspense, gruesome, thriller and smut. Need the next books asap! *grabby hands* Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Not what i was expecting at all. So this starts off so creepy like serious shivers down the spine, checking the doors of the house are locked kinda shivers. Then bam you go on a sort of mystery romance story with a hint of the paranormal. I say a hint of the paranormal as our central female lead has visions that are disturbing and kinda cool to the way the story goes. The introduction of a mysterious tall dark and handsome man adds a level of romance and intrigue that i rally enjoyed. I was kept guessing right up until the end as i was convinced i knew who this mysterious killer was, and i still have a sneaking suspicion of who the killer is but i will not give you any clues for when you read the boo.k. The ending of part one is seriously creepy i felt the rain on my face and the sweeping of the flash light as it finds that one thing you do not want to find was super heart pounding. Cannot wait for part 2 and wonder where the story will go.
I just finished reading Epiphany: Part One and all I can say is WOAH! It is a dark, intense, shocking, addictive, raw, emotional, captivating read that once you start reading, you won't be able to put it down. The characters, the storyline and discovering all the dirty secrets suck you in and keeps you turning the pages to see how the story develops. Well-written, this book will have you on the edge of your seat. You'll have the questions piling up as the story unfolds with not one answer in sight. Looking forward to the conclusion of this story.
This book starts with a great attention getter! Mackenzie has visions. unfortunately the recent ones are of a murdered girl. she hopes they're just a bad dream but they're not. being shy & new in town shes at a disadvantage of recognizing/meeting people so her friend Six helps. She meets Aiden...which shocks her because she's had visions of him for quite some time. when trouble starts to happen too often around her, Aiden steps in. anything more then thar may ruin this quick read, so i'll stop.
5 STARS WOW!! What an awesome start to a three part series.
"Epiphany" .... Part One is an excellent start to the three part series about our heroine, Mackenzie, who has a power to see *horrific things in her dreams before they happen.
Things are heating up between Mac and our Hero, Aiden, as they work together to solve the mystery of what is happening in this small town.
Can't wait for the next issue, coming out February 27th. .
I w as just gonna take a peek at this Gemma James serial after reading Vagrant and Fervent.... Well crap, lol now I'm hooked on another series... I really like Gemma, she has such courage I think to write about some of the more violent side of life, but you , well I get really invested in these characters. You really begin to "feel"" for these people. Only really good authors can do that for me. Thanks again ...Gemma you rock!
Loved it! It's a thriller and pseudo dark romance rolled into one...I'm in heaven. Actually, make Aidan (one of my favorite all time names) a vampire THEn I'd be in Heaven but I'm definitely free floating up there right now. I absolutely love the author's writing style. It just flows. Her characters are believable and like-able. Action that takes place is reasonable. I cant wait to start Book 2.... but I'm already late for work.
Good start to this series. I really like the way this is headed. I don't read a whole lot of thriller/paranormal type of books, but this one is written so well, that it immediately drew me in and I didn't want to put it down.
I have a couple other books by this author on my TBR list and I'll be picking those up once I'm done with this one.
Incredibly well written book. Love Gemma's writing. Not too many authors use creative words/ phrases to “paint” their books. She has a way with words that I've only seen with one other author. This book will not disappoint. Can't wait for the second book!
Six and Mac are friends. Mac has a special gift that she keeps a secret. That is until Six disappears and Mac tells Aidain. Suspenseful read that draws you in.
I liked the part so far .I found that I'm enjoying the mystery of this story. The characters definitely have their own personality can't wait to read more.
Ever kick yourself for letting a book lanquish in your TBR for ever???? Epiphany waited in my kindle for nearly two years before I finally decided it was time and I'm kicking myself....HARD.
I didn't even finish the first chapter before I knew....just knew....this book was going to blow me away. The writing is that good. Reading this was like watching it on TV, only better! Every scene was so vivid, every emotion felt at my core and the tension was like teetering on the edge of a cliff. Seriously, don't make the same mistake I did. This book doesn't deserve to lay dormant in any ereader or TBR. A serial killer on the loose, a mysterious but oh so hot stranger in town and a heroine with horrific dreams, what's not to love?!
This book was original released as a serial in 3 parts. You can buy each episode separately or the full version. There is no way you will stop at one episode, so get it all at once.
I wish I could give 1/2 stars, because this is more like a 3.5.
When Mackenzie dreams, she sees nightmares. She sees that the Hangman does to his innocent victims. She also sees Aidan. She never met him, she doesn't know who he is, until one night, she sees him at a party and then he starts showing up where she works.
Aidan has been chasing the Hangman for his own personal reasons. Then he sees Mackenzie and there's something about her that he's drawn to. He can't stay away from her, even if he should.
Very dark story, very interesting premise. I need to get to the rest of the series and read it because I'm eager to find out what happens to Mackenzie and Aidan.
This was so much fun to read. The characters were interesting, and full of action. There is a lot of action and passion in this story. The writing was awesome and I really enjoyed it. The couple didn't feel rushed to be a couple which was a nice change. They had their issues to work through and their love came out on top.
