The Lost Royals Saga #2

Dark Side of the Moon

Rate this book
A supernatural war fast approaching. A young queen who may not live to take the throne.

Evie can't recall her past life, but her quest for answers revealed the truth behind local lore: wolves and dragon shifters do exist ... and she's a hybrid descendant of both. Keeping her identity as the returned queen hidden is no small feat. Especially when it's unclear who's friend or foe, who risked it all to bring her back, and why?

It's with Liam's help that she learns to embrace and control her new abilities. Their shared past dates back centuries, an era when Liam was much more to her than just a warrior. She has no memory of their time together; however, traces of a powerful bond linger even now.

But she's torn.

Can the choices she makes in the present override supernatural ties and legends of old? Or is her future already written in stone?

Including signs pointing toward her untimely death at the hands of Nick, the boy who stole her heart the moment she set foot in Seaton Falls?

Evie refuses to be ruled by her past.
Nick's determined to rewrite the future that marks him as her killer.
And as for Liam, her warrior ... he looks forward to stopping him when he fails.

So much yes! I cannot get enough of Evie and Liam’s story! And I am desperate to know what will happen with Nick and Roz. This series is addictive. I’ve read the first two books in two days because I can’t put them down. It’s better than any series (ie. Hunger Games, Twilight, etc) than I’ve ever binged before! I’m obsessed!

Yessss!

First off, I was so excited that this books main heroine was different and not the standard blond and blue eyed heroine. She had light brown skin and curly hair! Yass!

This book was awesome from start to finish. I can't wait see what the third book will have in store for us.

If life had taught me anything, it’s that family might not always come in the form you’re expecting or even hoping for. But when you’re loved, I mean surrounded with it, submerged in it, be grateful.

A great second book in this series. The Council has decided to send the young shifters to a compound far away for the early shifters to learn more about their shifter side and how to control it.

Love triangle is resolved by the end of this book. Also I can’t really review book 2 without spoiling book 1, but I really enjoyed this series.

it was only ok. 2.5* rounded up just because I might read book 2.

There were some interesting parts but also some big plot holes. I am keeping an open mind though in case I decide to read book two.

Locked in an underground bunker with the boy she first fell in love with, and her soul's mate. And what's worse, one is destined to kill her, and both would give his life to protect her. Liam and Nick are at odds with each other. Neither wants the other to be the one holding Evie's hand, but Liam DEFINITELY doesn't want Nick near Evie. He's the destined Destroyer. He's already killed her once and Liam won't let it happen again. Evie is determined to survive somehow. Trapped underground, she's learned some very surprising truths about herself. Truths she never would have guessed. She's VIP in the underground and now she knows why. You won't want to me this second installment on Evie's journey of finding out who she really is. It's an AMAZING story!! Rachel Jonas doesn't disappoint, I guarantee it!!

Can I get a minute to praise this novel! I don't even know where to begin but just that I wished it was longer. I'm having book withdrawals right now from this awesomely written novel. The characters and the story-line are amazing.

Dark Side of the Moon continues from where the first book left off. All the shifters in Seaton Falls are hidden underground to be trained and learn about their history. While Liam and Evie grow closer, Nick can't handle the distance and it makes the distaste for Liam grow. Liam is bound to Evie as her protector and will stop at NOTHING to make sure that she is safe. Evie discovers much about herself during this time underground and also begins to form an unbreakable bond with Liam. You don't want to miss getting a glimpse into what Evie was and will be!

Words to describe the Heroine: Fierce, Independent, Fragile, Loving, Dependable
Words to describe the Hero: Barbaric, Strong, Level-headed, Loving, Loyal

It's hard to come across a sequel that stands up to its predecessor. I couldn't put this book down. I loved every minute of it. I highly recommend this book. I can't wait to read the next installment.

I received this ARC for an honest review.

The first one was a bit slow but picked up at the middle, however this one started ok and just went slower and slower, not much happened, tons of new information revealed but thats it, it was just a back and forth of Liam said Evie said.
Im ending the saga here, Im not going to read the rest.

Now Evangeline knows what and who she is: A dragon/wolf hybrid, the only one of her kind, and heir to both her mother’s and father’s royal crowns. And Nick, born the same moment as Evie, is the prophesied Liberator, born to liberate Evie’s soul from her body, as the previous one did centuries ago.

To protect shifters from the evil Sovereign and his mutts, all shifters younger than 20 are moved to a secure underground complex for a year of intense training and history lessons, filling in all of the gaps the previous generation, their parents, grew so lax in providing.

I really, really loved this book. Not only did it provide a very full picture of the beginning of the lycan and dragon worlds, but the tight focus of the setting was excellent. Forced underground with both Nick, as a student, and Liam, as an instructor, set up the characters in the perfect position for a love triangle standoff. We learned previously that Liam is tethered to Evangeline as her Warrior, but he also ends up being much more than just that.

The burn in this series is slow ... embers that are lightly fanned on a regular basis, but never too much to burst into the flames of passion. At least yet.

Also fascinating was watching the evolution of the characters. Evangeline comes more into her power here as she gradually awakens to her purpose and place in the world. And Nick ... ah, Nick. Well, he changes too. Suffice it to say I am and have always been Team Liam. 💕

I loved every dam word that went into this book even some of the stupid stuff characters are usually good at doing. This writer's knows how to spin a good tale. Book two is even better than book one. So many dam twists and turns it's unreal. God I can't wait for book 3. Only problem with getting an arc copy. You have to wait for the book to release. Then wait longer for the next one to come out. At least I will be able to re-read them.

NOOOOO

I realize how selfish it is of me to rate this with 3 stars, especially because it is so well written, BUT I am so broken hearted and disappointed about the way things are with Nick and Evie that I can hardly stand to continue reading. I fell for the two of them at the start and hated Liam and found him creepy and overbearing just as quickly. It’s making me ill to read about Nick being villainized when I just want him to have a chance to win Evie back and for Liam to show what a cold monster he is. Controlling ... and I don’t care that his excuse is his “love”. I also don’t care they were once married... this is a new version of Evie. She deserves a chance to be herself and not be expected to live up to the expectations of her past! Nick is so innocent in all of this(and Roz so annoying). I don’t know if I want to read the next book.

I didn’t know what I’d think of this second book when it started, but man oh man did I love how it ended. It’s one of those books that ends and I find myself checking to see when the release date is for the third book. At the same time crossing my fingers hoping it’s not too far off cause I want to find out what happens!

This is one hell of a rollercoaster. There’s everything in this book; a fading love triangle, family drama and revelations, heart wrenching shocks, and a complete character 180. Book 2 definitely makes us feel like we know Evangeline and Liam better (possibly serves as a better introduction than the first book) and I’m totally rooting for them. Evie was left so broken at the ending of the previous book that it’s hard to see how she will pick herself up from this. Locked in a bunker with the one person who’s fated to kill her and the one person sworn to protect her, this is one hell of a bumpy ride. I liked the perspective of Liam being introduced, it gave us a lot more of an insight into him and not just the good looking brute he’s portrayed as in the first book.

Now, Nick? I could not stand him in this book. I felt like he was a bratty kid not getting his own way so he goes out of his way to mess things up and poor Roz suffered the brunt of it. He’s temperamental with no self control, a complete 180 from his caring persona in the first book. Is it the Liberator coming out in him or is he just bitter because Evie chose Liam? I guess we’ll wait for Book 3. But, at the same time, it’s evoking such a strong emotion in me that I can’t help but read on. Even though I hate him, I don’t hate the story. He’s gone from a protagonist to my antagonist and it’s awesome to read.

My only complaint is I felt the ending was rushed. In the last 3 short chapters we get a tsunami of revelations that really could have been spanned out a bit. I’d love to have read some of the fallout (although I guess that’s what book 3 is). I feel like it was a rush to tie up lingering questions and create new ones which makes for confusing reading.

All in all I absolutely adored this book. Some people say it’s boring and 60% of it is filler, and I can see that. If you’re not into the characters this can seem like a bit of a drag but for anyone who’s invested in the characters and enjoy the background setting, this is perfect. We really get to know each and every character, even the smaller ones and some of them really start showing their true colours.

I won’t lie. I was a little worried about starting this book. I loved The Genesis of Evangeline. So, I wasn’t sure if that love would follow through with this next novel. I’m happy to report that the love is still there. Rachel Jonas did not let me down. Her words have woven such a fascinating story. And I read a lot of books. So, it was refreshing to read something new and different. So many times you get stuck reading basically the same story over and over. But this is something so different. And I just love how creative she is. It also amazes me that her writing allowed me to sympathize with all the characters. I thought I would have a hard time doing that. Because let’s face it I’m in love with Liam. In my eyes he can do no wrong. But seeing Evie, Liam, and Nick’s POV really helped me understand what each of them was feeling and going through. Instead of just assuming. And you will be introduced to a new key player. At first I didn’t like them. But as the story went on I grew to understand why they made the decisions they made. Now, I am dying for March to come. Because I am addicted and need to see what is going to happen. Unfortunately, I don’t have a way with words. So, don’t read my rambling of a review and just go with the only sentence I should have used... This is a must read!

I liked this book a lot more than the first. I was able to understand more of it and I liked the direction this went. I was worried about the love triangle between ever, nick and Liam but I’m glad that in this book the tie is severed. Evie and the other shifters are taken to a secret facility to train . She and Liam get a lot closer and soon she finds out that her mother is alive. But she also loses her adoptive parents who are put under a spell to forget her. Nick finally comes back and the decide to be friends. But nicks hate for Liam is consuming him and when he finds out that his grandfather was the last liberator and that Liam was the one that killed his grandparents it sets him on a journey for revenge. But he still wants to fix things with Evie but when he hurts her Liam wants to end him. Nick wants his revenge and sets out to ask the witch’s for help with one ☝🏻 request. So he takes it all because he wants his curse lifted. But he should know never trust the witches when things go wrong and he lures Liam to the cells. He thinks his death will make him happy but he doesn’t realize how intense the link between Evie and Liam is. So when she shows up everything goes crazy. She will stop at nothing to save her mate. The one she’s tethered to for life. Check out this book it was so super good can’t wait to see what happens

Defying fate a girl is born, a love is forged that lasts eternally and a prophecy is challenged.

Evangeline embarks on her journey to what will become the new home to her and her friends for the duration of their schooling. Unsure of what lies ahead she draws strength from the bond she and Liam have. Liam vows that he will be there for her and with her every step of the way. No matter the hardships to come they’re in this together. While some friendships grow and become stronger others fall to the wayside. Evangeline faces lots of heartbreak and loss in this chapter of her live but she has also gained something that she never thought possible.

It was wonderful to see how much Evangeline grew and matured in this book. She’s become stronger and more knowledgeable. Evangeline and Liam make a great team. I really enjoyed Dark Side of the Moon. It was even better than the first book. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next in their story.

I received an ARC for Book 2 of Lost Royals Saga, Dark Side Of The Moon in exchange for an honest review. OMG! This is my second book from the author, Rachel Jonas and as much as I loved the first book, I adored this one. It had everything I liked reading in a book. The story had paranormal theme with romance. The heroine Evangeline was sweet and strong at the same time while the hero, Liam was soooo in love with her that you just wanted to step into her shoes. I mean, who wouldn’t want someone to be in love with her for hundred of years?? The story was so gripping and I had to force myself to stop so I could rush around doing Christmas errands. I couldn’t wait to finish the book at the same time I didn’t want it to end. I am going to be a huge fan of this writer. I can’t wait to read book 3 and I hope it comes out soon ... like tomorrow! Rollercoaster ride!

Hold on tight folks for this is one heckuva ride! Evie is still in the dark about much going on behind the scenes. Thankfully she and Liam are slowly finding their way together... Nick and Roz are trying to see if there's a way to end his curse of being the Liberator... Being sent off with all the other pack teens.... NICK, rRoz, Beth and Evie are beginnibg to learn all about what's really going on. Nick is still keeping things to himself as he shoulders this burden... However it may soon cause far more trouble le than he knows. Evue keeps getting shock after shock... And boy will she get a few in this book. She might have lost her adoptive parents. .but all is definitely NOT lost in the home front. Buckle your seat belts everyone and take this awesome ride. It's filled with secrets, magic, intrigue, redemption, betrayal and family.

I couldn't put this book down for the first half of it. Overall a really well-written series so far. I was disappointed with where the story and the relationships ended up, however. It became a story about how friends can turn into enemies and love can turn into hate. Even though I can guess that the rest of the series will deal with forgiveness, change and overcoming hate, it didn't make this any more pleasant to read.

In addition, I was disappointed by how Evie and Liam came together, because it was so surprisingly boring and lacking chemistry and passion. He takes on this overly-patient parental role with her (no wonder considering the age differences) that is not sexy. And since I mainly picked up this series to read a good romance love triangle, right now there's not much to look forward to. I hope the next books prove me wrong.

After reading The Genesis of Evangeline I was really excited to see where this one would go. However, it felt like a "filler" book... There was just enough information provided to keep you interested, but felt like the information pertaining to the plot just created more questions then answers. With that said, it was still an enjoyable read, kept me intrigued, but it moved at a snails pace... Heres to hoping Heart of the Dragon will pick up the pace and answer some questions and not just create more questions.

Wow. Let me start off by saying i received an arc to review after reviewing the first book. And wow! This installment was beyond amazing. It has romance and action and betrayal all mixed in with awesome dragons and lycans. Liam and Evie go on this huge journey to rediscover who they were to each other and Evie though having a lot of hardship happen is still so strong and real. She has real emotions and is so easy to relate to (though I do wish I could also be a kick ass dragon/lycan) the end half had me so wrapped up I had to force myself to put it down and even then couldn't sleep because I kept thinking about what was going to happen next. While I enjoyed the first book this second one blew me out of the water and I cannot wait for number 3!

Already being a HUGE fan of Evie and her story from Book 1 of the Lost Royals Saga, I had pretty high expectations set when I started reading Book 2: Dark Side of the Moon.

I am happy to conclude, my expectations were definitely met 100%!!

We see Evie really mature, strengthen, and accept who she is and where she's from in this book. She gains knowledgeable history of past family members and tries to envision herself as she once was, really helping to develop and hone in on her inner self.

This saga is jam packed full of adventure and the supernatural with a tiny dabble of love. I can not wait for Book 3. I read this story in a day, and it's one I will re-read many many times.

Five stars!!!!!

Read other books from this author in the future: yes

In Dark Side of the Moon the Shifters are prepared for the upcoming battle in an underground camp. They also learn a lot about the Shifter's history that their parents didn't teach them. Nick's condition worsens.
Also this volume could have been shorter without losing content.

Deutsche Rezension:

A LOT is revealed in this book, but leads to more questions. Couldn't put it down
There were a couple places up got bogged down, but the info was necessary to advance the story. I hate how much miscommunication went on between Evie and Nick, so much could have been avoided. I am also starting to root heavily for Liam. Everything he does is for her benefit, even of it hurts him or others he cares about. He is 100% her warrior. It's hard to leave a review without spoilers.
*** So slight spoiler ahead.****. the entire relationship dynamics, for every character changes in this book.
