Hot pasta and a cold corpse make for quite a combination in the latest book in the Ethnic Eats mystery series.

When Laurel Inwood features Italian cuisine on the Terminal at the Tracks menu, she knows she'll need to stock the shelves, the fridge, and the freezer with plenty of wonderful delicacies. She just never expected one of them to be her former employer, Hollywood superstar Meghan Cohan.

And one day, when Laurel is at the restaurant early to get ready for the regular rush of customers, that's exactly what she finds--Meghan dead in the Terminal freezer.

What's a Hollywood A-lister doing in Hubbard, Ohio?

For Laurel, that's the real question, because the first question she'd ask in any other murder investigation--who would want the victim dead?--seems pretty much a no-brainer in this case.

Who would want Meghan dead?

Just about anybody who had ever met her.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

I really love this series. Growing up in a family that owned and operated a restaurant much like the Terminal at the Tracks before Laurel arrived I know the author’s depiction of how hard it is to keep an eatery open with enough customers to turn a profit is true. My mother sold the restaurant not long after my father passed and no one else has been able to take it over and replicate the success she had. I love Laurel’s idea of a different type of cuisine every month while still keeping customer favorite’s on the menu. It keeps the menu fresh and fun both for the customers and the cooks.

By this third book in the series, Laurel has decided to stay in Hubbard and Sophia is back to work. A new waitress adds a bit of drama, but the staff works together like a well-oiled machine. The characters this author has created are so realistic. I feel like I could take a little trip to Ohio and walk right into the Terminal at the Tracks. The dialogue rings true. The relationships have developed naturally. This cast has worked their way right into my heart.

The idea of Hollywood superstar Meghan Cohan, Laurel’s former employer showing up in Hubbard would never have crossed my mind. I was totally surprised at how she made her appearance. To have her be the victim brought a wonderful new group of characters to the story. Her assistant, her son, her ex-husband and more. So many likely suspects all with the motive to cause her icy demise.

Ms. Logan plotted this story out with knife-like precision. Twists and turns with a real mystery not only of “whodunit” but why they “dunit”. Laurel has a heck of a time figuring this one out even after she ends up out cold and headed to the hospital. I was totally in the dark until the very end. I love the way all the suspects were brought together for the grand reveal.

I did enjoy how the events in the story allowed Laurel to look back at her life in California and even back to being a foster child. This made it possible to really open herself up to opportunities that were staring her right in the face.

This is an excellent addition to this series. The way the final pages are written I am sad to say I think this is the last book in this series which really upsets me. These are characters I am not ready to say goodbye to and there are so many more countries to visit for ethnic eats. I really hope I am wrong.

I highly recommend all three books in this series!

It’s Italian food month at Terminal at the Tracks. Laurel Inwood is busy getting the restaurant ready to feed their customers delicious Italian food. She’ll make sure they have plenty of pasta and pizza ready. Imagine her shock when she discovers her old boss, Meghan Cohan, dead in the freezer.

Meghan is a mega Hollywood star who unceremoniously fired Laurel not long ago. Laurel can’t figure out what Meghan had been doing in the Ohio restaurant in the first place. She should have been in California being a superstar.

It goes without saying that Laurel had many reasons to be angry with Meghan, starting with being fired from her job. However, Laurel had put all that behind her in favor of her new career at Terminal at the Tracks. Still, it doesn’t look good for Laurel that Meghan had been murdered right under her nose. So, Laurel begins an investigation of her own. She quickly discovers she wasn’t the only one with an ax to grind against Meghan.

This is the third book of the Ethnic Eats series. I read the previous one and still need to read the first, but I already fell in love with this series. I adore everything about it from the clever setting to the characters to the plot. Kylie Logan does an excellent job of drawing the reader in and making them feel as if they are right there with Laurel trying to figure out whodunit.

It’s fast-paced with well-developed characters. I’m already anxiously awaiting for my next visit to Hubbard, Ohio. I, also, plan to read this author’s other cozy mystery series. They all look good.

Laurel Inwood's cafe is featuring Italian cuisine this month in the 3 rd installment of Ethnic series. We find Laurel in the prep area preparing special dishes for the month. She opened the walk freezer there a body who apparently froze to death. The body turns out to be superstar Meghan Cohan, Laurel Hollywood employer who fired her a year ago. Before Meghan staff is now in Hubbard, Ohio. They include her son, personal secretary, her cook and Mitch staff, her ex-husband and his current wife. Everyone is wanting an item that Laurel has and she has no idea what they want. Laurel must find an answer before she joins Meghan Cohan in death. The ending will surprise. I highly recommend this book and series.
Italian recipes are included

Laurel is settling in well in Ohio running her restaurant , Terminal at the Tracks. She changes the menu frequently and this month is Italian. This is book 3 in the Ethnic Eats series. When Laurel's ex-boss, Hollywood superstar Meghan Cohan is found dead in her freezer she becomes the prime suspect in her murder. Good mystery and lots of suspects because everyone who knew Meghan wanted her dead. This is easily read as a stand alone. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Italian Iced by Kylie Logan is An Ethnic Eats Mystery. Laurel Inwood is gearing up for Italian cuisine month at Terminal at the Tracks in Hubbard, Ohio. She knows it will be a popular theme with their patrons. The first night Laurel notices a shabbily dressed older man with a fedora nursing a cup of coffee. When she arrives home at Pacifique, she is greeted with an open door and her kitchen is in a disarray. Someone went through all her cookbooks. On Saturday morning when Laurel arrives at the restaurant, she finds the kitchen ransacked and, again, all the cookbooks have been disturbed. Detective Gus Oberlin arrives to take a report and hints that he would love to try the gelato. Laurel opens the walk-in freezer and finds her former employer and Hollywood actress, Meghan Cohan frozen on the floor. She is wearing a disguise and Laurel recognizes her as the woman she bumped into the previous night. What was Meghan looking for among Laurel’s belongings and why was she incognito? The real question is who killed Meghan Cohan? The suspect list is lengthy as Meghan antagonized every person she encountered. Laurel needs to find the killer quickly, so she can get rid of the pesky reporters plaguing the restaurant.

Italian Iced is the third book in An Ethnic Eats Mystery series and it can be read alone. I like the characters in this cute cozy mystery series. Laurel is a strong main character with a passion for food. She has found a home in Hubbard along with close friends and her boyfriend, Declan Fury. The mystery was multifaceted with red herrings and twists. Armchair sleuths will have a difficult time solving this whodunit. I did have two unanswered questions at the end, though, that I wish the author had addressed. There is plenty of yummy sounding food mentioned throughout the book as Laurel creates Italian dishes for the restaurant. There is romance as Laurel and Declan’s relationship deepens. The ending was charming and romantic. It seems, though, that Italian Iced is the last novel in An Ethnic Eats Mystery series. I am happy that the author took the time provide a satisfying ending for her readers. If you are looking for a cozy mystery with engaging characters, luscious food, and a killer mystery, then you should read Italian Iced.

Hot pasta and a cold corpse make for quite a combination in the latest book in the Ethnic Eats mystery series.

Review:

The characters are well rounded and well developed. I really enjoy Laurel, she is gutsy, smart and determined. She is not easily fooled and she sure is not a pushover. But she also has a softer caring side. She seemed multifaceted to me and very real. I enjoyed spending time with her work “family” and especially her “not aunt” Sophie, you can really tell that they care about and love each other very much. And Declan is a wonderful boyfriend and Laurel better not let him get away. But with her past of growing up in foster homes, she has trouble believing in happily-ever-after.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. It helped me get into the flow of the story and kept me there the entire time. The author is very talented in her descriptive and through much of the book I felt like I was right there, smelling the foods and listening in on conversations. The author does a great job of describing the dishes being served without turning the book into a cookbook. And the couple of recipes at the back of the book sound delicious.

The mystery is well plotted and is not easy to solve. With so many suspects that disliked the deceased and lots of clues to sift through, I had a difficult time trying to solve this mystery. Throw in some twists and turns and red herrings and I was not sure of the culprit’s identity until it was revealed. Which is just how I like my mysteries.

I would highly recommend this book, and series, to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. To me, this book is exactly what a cozy should be. Check it out and I bet you will agree.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Berkley Publishing Group, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

The Terminal at the Tracks diner is featuring Italian food this month, and Laurel is thrilled with how popular the choice has been on the first night. However, she returns home to find that it has been trashed. Nothing appears to be taken, but someone was searching for something. Before she can figure out what they were looking for, she makes an even worse discovery, the body of mega movie star Meghan in the freezer down at the diner. Laurel has had no contact with Meghan for the past year since Meghan fired her. What was she doing in town? And how did she come to die in the freezer?

The mystery is great with a steady stream of clues, surprises, and red herrings to keep us guessing until the end. Laurel also gets a chance to reflect on her life then versus now, and the growth we see in her is wonderful. There are only a few series regulars, but it is fun to spend time with them again. The suspects are strong and do a great job of keeping us guessing until the end.

NOTE: I received a copy of this book.

While I was satisfied with the ending to this series, I wish it wasn't the end! I've enjoyed these books. I like the characters and the restaurant setting. The mystery in this one was good and unexpected in several ways. Recipes to go with this month's Italian theme were included at the end.

Review:

Italian Iced is the third installment in Kylie Logan’s “An Ethnic Eats Mystery” series. I have really enjoyed the first two and I think this third one is the very best. This series is so enjoyable and entertaining and number three is the cherry on top of the bunch! I adore the idea of a different ethnic menu at protagonist’s Terminal at the Tracks in each book. Laurel Inwood really is an intelligent and true to life main character. She is who she is due in part to her past in foster care, her relationship with her dear “aunt” Sophie and her time working for Hollywood diva Meghan Cohan. Yes, she is who she is, faults, insecurities and all, and is so relatable I think to just about any reader. The supporting cast of characters has just gotten better and better. (you can’t beat Declan for a boyfriend, lol)

The victim and the path the storyline went really surprised me. Laurel finds her former boss, Meghan dead in her freezer. So what was she doing there in Hubbard, Ohio, how long had she been there and who killed her? I loved the twists and turns the author threw in our path to find out the truth. I was along for the ride as Laurel and her crew tried to find out what was going on. When the police try to find out who had it in for Meghan, the answer is basically “anyone who knew her”, including her son. There are a lot of suspects in this one, but also a real motive for each one of them. Laurel does a great job sifting through them until she is knocked out of commission. You cannot keep Laurel down though and she pushes forward and uncovers some pretty intense issues people in Meghan’s closest circle had with her.

It was fun getting a glimpse at Laurel’s life with Meghan, her feelings about how she grew up and how far she has come. Just hope that does not interfere with her relationship with Declan. The author has fleshed out the characters and they are just a delight to read about. The mystery in Italian Iced is perfect. It pulled me in different directions without being overplayed. The plot and mystery were as delightful as a perfect plate of pasta and sauce. I guessed who the killer was at least 4 times, only to be fooled until the reveal. Even on the pages right before the reveal, I was sure I knew who it was, nope I sure didn’t, lol. And it all made sense, even if I did not have the sense to figure it out. This author is adept at this in all of her series, at keeping the reader entertained.

Italian Iced is the perfect recipe for a cozy mystery. Great characters, wonderful setting, super writing style, and a very intriguing mystery, make this a hit. I really enjoy these characters and love getting to spend time at the Terminal. The Italian food all sounded wonderful and made me need some of it as well. Luckily a couple of recipes are included. Kylie Logan is a wonderful author that has given us a fun and entertaining cozy series that can be read out of order, as standalones, or in the perfect order. I recommend this great cozy to anyone that enjoys a fun foodie read.

If you like your Italian food with a sprinkling of romance, get cozy and enjoy this third and final addition to Kylie Logan’s delectably delicious mystery series. Laurel Inwood, former celebrity chef, has escaped the fast-paced West Coast lifestyle by bringing her gourmet cooking skills to breathe new life into Sophie’s Terminal at the Tracks in small town Hubbard, Ohio. This visit features a generous serving of mouthwatering Italian dishes (many with recipes) expertly spiced with a side of Murder. Laurel is busy preparing the Italian dishes for the Terminal’s specials when she discovers something in the freezer that is not on the menu! And what about that handsomely adorable Irish store owner, Declan Fury? If you’re a fan of this series you’ll be anxiously awaiting an update on Laurel and Declan’s developing romance. Can Laurel follow the clues in this intricately plotted mystery, solve the murder, and get her Italian-themed menu specials back on track in time to prevent the Terminal from going off the rails? Will she get over her reluctance to accept Declan’s marriage proposal? Bring your appetite, your sleuthing skills, and your curiosity to Sophie’s. Savor one of Laurel’s gourmet Italian entrees while you watch the drama unfold in this final episode of the Ethnic Eats series.

When Laurel was fired as the personal chef to megastar, Meghan Cohan, last year, she had nowhere else to go so headed to a small town in Ohio to help Sophie, her aunt, run her restaurant while she had knee surgery. She had originally intended to find another job and get outta there ASAP but has realized she is happy with her quieter new life ... she has a house, a boyfriend and she enjoys working with Sophie.

So it's quite a shock to discover to discover her house and the kitchen at the restaurant ransacked and Meghan is dead in the restaurant's freezer. Everyone who was in Meghan's life is in the area ... her ex-husband, her teenage son, her son's caregiver, her assistant, etc. Meghan wasn't the nicest person so all could have murdered her. With the help of her boyfriend, Declan and town police chief, Meghan sets out to find out who hated Meghan enough to kill her.

Though this is the third in the Ethnic Eats series (I've read all three) by this author, it works as a stand alone. It is written in first person perspective in Laurel's voice. It's a "cozy mystery" so there is no swearing, violence or adult activity. I thought story and writing were okay but the "whodunnit" and the "why" were a bit convoluted and I wasn't really buying it.

Once again a master of writing a puzzling mystery, filling it with lots of great food references, indulging us with wonderful (and awful) characters, and keeping us hooked page after page. I love the way the protagonist will be mid-sentence and all of a sudden run out of the room, having thought of something ... and often that something doesn't even really help solve the murder. Lots of endearing moments, plenty of hilarious situations, a few mildly suspenseful moments, and in the end, a murder solved, and happy endings for many of our favorite characters. I absolutely love this author and am keeping my eyes open for more!

Typical to the other Kylie Logan books I have read,Italian Iced is a page turning cozy mystery infused with humor and charm. It was the first book in the series I have read, but I didn’t feel left behind. It drew me in and kept me engaged in both the characters and the mystery.

If you are a fan of culinary cozies packed full of humor and small town charm, then check out Italian Iced by Kylie Logan. If you are anything like me, it will leave you craving more from this talented author!

2022 bk 173. Another excellent cozy - built around and Italian theme this time.. Music, good food, dancing on the weekend. What more could a restauranteur want - certainly not the body in the freezer. Especially when it turns out the body in the freezer is Laurel's former boss, the one from Hollywood, the one who fired her. This cozy mystery was even a little more trickier and I'll admit I had pegged someone else as the murderer. I hope for more in the series, but have a feeling that this may be the last as the author wrapped up a lot of loose ends.

Very enjoyable cozy mystery featuring Laurel Inwood as the main character. After a year at the Terminal at the Tracks, Laurel's past comes to town. Her former boss is found dead in the walk in freezer at the restaurant and it seems that a lot of people connected to the victim are also in town. The book was a quick easy read.

I have enjoyed this series and I am sad to see it end. I appreciate that the author was able to wrap everything up and end the series on a good note with no loose ends. The door wasn't closed on the series so if she gets an opportunity to write more it could easily be continued. The mystery in this book was good but I must admit I didn't really understand the motive for the murder. Overall, a good series that cozy mystery fans should enjoy.

Laurel and Declan are working on their relationship when the outside world interferes once more.
After a devastating ice storm hits Laurel's new tomato plants, she heads over to her place of solace, The Terminal Restaurant. The restaurant is inside a former train terminal, thus it's name. A diner noted for specializing in a different ethnic food each month, this month it is Italian delicacies.

Along with the patrons, the restaurant seems to be getting some down on their luck customers. The problem is that Laurel is finding out that these customers are vandalizing her home and even the restaurant kitchen. What is the draw? For one thing the body of her former boss is found.

A famous movie star makes for an uptick in the sales, but, even odder is the fact that Meghan Cohen's entourage seems to have followed her. Why? Laurel was fired from her job with Meghan over a year ago. What did she want so badly? What does any of them want? And, who killed Meghan?

This book had me chuckling and enjoying certain passages as I read it in one sitting. I do enjoy this series and 'Thanks' for the recipes. They are golden.

Phew! Another humdinger from Kylie Logan here!

Laurel made the decision at the end of the last book to stay at The Terminal by the Tracks (and though she didn't know it when she make that decision it was helped by the fact that Rocky who was murdered in the last book had left her the house and land she owned), another Ethnic session is underway, this time Italian (after all who doesn't love pizza and pasta!) but when Laurel arrives home one night she finds her house has been trashed! and as if that wasn't bad enough she gets to work a day later to find the same thing has happened there, only this time it turns out to be more serious than just a break in as there is a dead body in the freezer, oh and not just any dead body but the Hollywood Diva that sacked her without cause 18 months ago!

Laurel would be suspect #1, if it wasn't for the fact that pretty much everyone else who has been close to Meghan recently seems to be in the environs of Hubbard, now Laurel needs to navigate reporters, an angsty teen, Declan, her Aunt Sophie and .... well pretty much everyone, to find out the truth and at the same time decide once and for all what she wants to do with her life.

This is the first book I've read from this series, and I loved it! Logan's writing is excellent. She does an especially good job of transitioning from one chapter to the next, frequently using dialogue to connect Laurel's conversations with the murder suspects to her discussions with her boyfriend Declan as she pieces together the case. This keeps the story moving along at a good pace while also helping the reader to keep the clues organized. Logan also does a great job of using each character in the story to the fullest, and of keeping the killer a complete secret from the reader until the very end. I also like the way the plot incorporates events and people from Laurel's past, and how the restaurant where Laurel now works is woven into the story in a way that feels very natural and not forced just for the sake of the overarching theme of the series. I'm excited to go back and read the first two books of the series and also to check out other series by this author!

This is the 3rd book in the Ethnic Eats Mystery series by author Kylie Logan. You do not have to read them in order and will not feel confused if you read this as a stand-alone.
Ms. Logan n-e-v-e-r disappoints. This "cozy" is fast-paced with a well-plotted mystery, a bit of romance, and some great dialogue that will make you laugh and cheer the characters on. The small town charm and quirky/lovable characters really shine! Since I love to eat Italian meals, the recipes and foods served in the novel's restaurant were of special interest to me.
I highly recommend this author because the mysteries are creative and not easily solved before you get to the final chapters. The characters and their names are different enough to make following the story-line easy for all ages.

Perusing the library shelves, I ran across this book and picked it up on a whim. I will be returning to the library to look for more books in this series. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, they felt real and believable in many ways and a bit over the top in others, just like real life! The plot moved along without feeling rushed and it never dragged. I had just enough information without being bogged down in useless details. I felt a definite sense of place, for both Hubbard, Ohio and The Terminal restaurant. There were just enough clues for me to have a sense of "who dunnit", yet continue to question my conclusion to the end. A return trip to Hubbard is definitely in my reading future.

Argh! So disappointed that this is only a three book series -- so much scope for more books with the ethnic recipes angle (there are some Italian recipes included at the back of this book.) But, the author gave a satisfying conclusion to the romance, so that was appreciated. The mystery was so intriguing -- tons of possible suspects and complicated layers to delve into. And there was the Hollywood / rabid reporter angle as well. Loved the way Laurel navigated through it all with Declan keeping close -- very much an equal sleuthing partner (and so much more!) And the Christie worthy conclusion made for a grande finale. Now to hunt down more of Kylie Logan's books.

Another fun read in this series. I think the thing I like the most about Kylie Logan's books are her quirky characters, there are plenty here as well as a heroine who continues to grow as a person and discovers what is really important to her.

There is nothing like finding your old boss, famous actress Meghan Cohen, in the walk-in freezer of your new business, since know one else in town even knowing the victim, we know Laurel will have to help, with all the potential murderers who suddenly show up in Ohio it should be quite a ride!!!!

After a 10 year stint as a chef for Meghan Cohan, one of Hollywood’s stars, Laurel found herself without a job and without job prospects. She found her way to Ohio and opened a restaurant in an old train terminal. She was determined to bring a wider eating experience to the local townspeople. Once a week she featured an ethnic menu that might peak some interest. This week it was Italian food. All seemed to be going well until she found her former employer dead in her walk in freezer! …. What was Meghan doing in Ohio?? Who would have killed her? ……… A better than average cozy mystery.

I read this straight after French Fried, and enjoyed it just as much. It's 6 months later, and Laurel has settled into living in the house she inherited, a relationship with Declan Fury, and helping Sophie run her bistro. I really like the way the characters have developed with each story, and hope the final chapter of this one doesn't mean the end of the series. The plot was intricate, and the villain could have been any of the suspects, as the real motive doesn't emerge until the end.

Loved this book!! I'm pretty sure this is the last book in this series, which is disappointing because it's so much fun! In this book, the celebrity who Laurel was a personal chef for is found murdered in the restaurant. Laurel and Declan investigate to see why Meghan was there and who killed her. Love the ethnic food themes of this series and the book ended on a happy note. I will miss the series and the recipes!

This is an excellent book and a terrific series.

Something odd is going on in Hubbard, OH. Laurel's farmhouse has been broken into, but nothing is missing. Then the Terminal is also been vandalized. There seems to be a big interest in Laurel's cookbook collection. When Laurel opens up the walk-in freezer she finds the vandal...deceased. That's when she realizes that both of the odd customers were the same person who is now in the freezer.
