Gio, Gio, Gio
First, I have to say that I love love love the Guarding Her series. It’s a regular on my reread rotation. If you’re put off by over the top, foul mouthed, possessive and protective alpha males, then this series probably will not be your cup of tea. But it sure is mine. Yes, they’re sometimes crude. Yes, they take protecting their women to the extreme. But they’re also loving and loyal, and willing to do whatever it takes to protect those they love.
Gio is no exception. He and Whitney were practically connected at the hip for years. Whitney was head over heels in love with him, but felt she was in the permanent friend zone. Gio was afraid to ruin what they had, so never acted on his love for her. Something happens and there was some miscommunication and assumptions made, and Whitney ran away for eight years. Foolish pride prevents Gio from running after her, and he wastes those years apart acting a fool chasing any female tail to numb the pain (in true idiot male fashion). Circumstances bring them back together, and the fire is instantaneous. These two were meant to be. I love their story. Billie and Carter are my #1 story, but Whit and Gio are right there too. There’s definitely some hotness, some laughter (these two are best of friends and know how to have a good time), some drama, and a whole family of side characters who are the best.
