The Billionaire's Toy

Rate this book
When he looks at me, my heart pounds.
Andrew Xellum is one of the richest men around and sexy as hell in a suit. But the rumor is that every woman he hires quits without warning.
If I wasn't desperate for money I'd avoid him at all costs. I don't even know if I can do the job; I'm not a model, and the outfits he wants me to wear are extremely revealing.
Then I catch him eyeing my body like he wants to bend me over and have a taste. It's thrilling—I can barely control my excitement.
People told me he was cold... that he pushes everyone away.
But he's not pushing me away.
He's pulling me into his lap.
He's whispering in my ear.
And suddenly I'm letting him do whatever he wants to me.
Am I the luckiest girl alive?
Or am I just a toy for this billionaire to play with and toss aside?

This is a standalone novella with a HEA and NO cheating!
Penny Wylder writes just that-- wild romances. Happily Ever Afters are always better when they're a little dirty, so if you're looking for a page turner that will make you feel naughty in all the right places, jump right in and leave your panties at the door!

I finished this one pretty quickly because it was this awesome!
I had a fun and exciting time reading this one. It made me forget the horrible real world.
I liked how Delia grew as a person and discovered a bit more about herself.
The scene in front of the glasw was so damn hot!

Go and read this quick and steamy read!!

Couldn't relate the book title to actual storyline but it was an okay sexy, smutty read.
It was also included with "Buying the Bride" both stories take up 50% of book length.

Fun, hot, and quick!

I actually really enjoyed this one. Which I wouldn’t have thought based on the title alone. The title honestly isn’t that great if you ask me. I almost didn’t even read it, and I would have been sad because I actually really liked the model/designer story line. It was hot and fun. Billionaires Toy isn’t a very good description... but I’d read this people! Fun hot and quick’

Was It Just Me?

Reviews are serious business and I do not like to be critical of any authors work, especially when you consider yourself a devoted fan (like I do). However, as ARC reviewers we not only have a responsibility to encourage writers but we also have an even greater obligation to readers who might purchase an author’s book. This is one of those very difficult reviews and it is important to remember this is simply one individual’s opinion and opinion only.

“The Billionaire’s Toy” is very well written, fast paced and has a decent story line (for the most part). The heat was certainly center stage and the featured kink, exhibitionism, was completely plausible as well as hot. Unfortunately, I did not connect at any point with the male protagonist. I was completely confused by both his demeanor as well as his behavior and the reasoning for his rather bizarre reactions were not revealed until well into the second half of the novella. Connecting to the characters (especially the H) is everything in a novella and without this connection the story becomes inconsequential.

The narrative involves a high-end women’s fashion designer located in NYC and the ordinary girl turned model who becomes his muse. I thought perhaps the disconnect was due to the subject or setting, I’m about as far removed from fashion design and NYC as you can get. However, I enjoy reading for the escapism and do not require my fiction to be cemented in reality or encompass subject matter I’m familiar with. Perhaps not having the male protagonist's point of view was what lead to my confusion. Knowing his reasoning early on may have nurtured the connection or perhaps I’m simply obtuse. The character interactions felt awkward or forced and the H a bit stiff or formal (but what do I know about art or artists, right?).

Overall, I give the novella 3.5 stars… not bad but not one of my favorite stories either.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

No idea why this book is called “The Billionaire’s Toy”. I don’t think that the main female character, Delia, was a toy to the hero, Andrew. It’s never mentioned in this book, that either he or she considers herself his toy. It should be something like “The Billionaire’s Muse/Inspiration/Model” (pick one).

Also, I want to punch a certain evil female character in the face. She has one of my favourite names, yet she behaves so badly. Evil witch! 😈

Other than that, I really enjoyed the book.

I usually really enjoy Penny Wylder's books but this one just fell absolutely flat. First the title wasn't at all apt for the story. She never seemed like a 'toy' and although he's obviously filthy rich, one knows that more from the title than the story itself.

Secondly, there was no real character development or a way to connect to the characters. Andrew came across as unshaped and remote with no way to connect to him and Delia, his muse, came across as desperate, needy and hopelessly smitten with Andrew who still had no depth or insight so her being smitten with him wasn't really exciting or moving. I'm surprised this is even a Penny Wylder story.

For those who love all things Wylder, the story centers around a young woman down on her luck and recently fired. Her best friend is a model and bartender and sends her out on an open casting call for the famous fashion designer Andrew Xellum. Delia shows up late after everyone else has been seen and wouldn't you know - he's found his new muse. Delia and Andrew begin to collaborate together with more and more risqué shows and Delia is infatuated with him beyond belief. Of course they end up hooking up together and that's basically the deal.

There were no startling revelations or big dramatic moments. The only hitch in the story lasted for 3 pages and was almost non-existent. I'm not going to rate this one because I generally enjoy this author and find her stuff entertaining so I'm not going to bash it with a 1 or 2 star rating but really I can't believe this is the same chick who's written the other books I've read. A weird disconnect from all her other work.

Penny, Penny, Penny. Another book that I couldn’t stop reading once I started.

Andrew and Delia are relationship goals. Andrew is a famous fashion designer and is in the market for a new model. Delia is freshly fired when her best friend recommends she answers a casting call. Once Delia walks into the room, Andrew is captivated. Once they start working together, Andrew can’t help himself from making Delia the centerpiece of his exhibits. As things heat up, Andrew finds himself crossing a line he has never crossed before and Delia finds herself pushed to limits that she never knew she had. Just as things couldn’t get any better, a previous model who used to work with Andrew threatens to stop things before it had even really begun. Thankfully Delia is much stronger and craftier than Andrew gives her credit for.

This story is too HOT to handle🔥🔥🔥

Delia has just lost her job, rent’s due and she has no idea how she’s going to pay her bills. Thank goodness for your BFF. Fleece bartends but also models. She’s got a casting call but encourages Delia to go in her place.

This meeting changes her life. Meet handsome designer Andrew Xellum! He knows what he wants and he wants Delia in his shows!

This quick read of instant attraction will have you needing a fan! These two are perfect together. She’s his muse. And what starts off as an attraction, that crosses Andrew’s boundaries, not mixing business with pleasure, becomes a love he can’t live without!

Get ready because these two create a 5 alarm fire!!!

This is a hot and steamy read about a designer, Alexander and a woman, Delia, he transforms into a model and his muse. They have an immediate attraction, but will it last? Or, will another model ruin everything?
This is a well put together storyline that flows from chapter to chapter, never getting bogged down or meanders away from the plot. The characters are somewhat unevenly developed. Delia is more fully developed than Alexander but that is a risk in a short story but it did not hamper all that much.
This author does write interesting sizzling stories with good story locations and this one is no exception. I recommend this book for your reading bliss. Enjoy!

Andrew is a famous fashion designer and is looking to find a new model to highlight his clothes. Delia has just been fired from her job and needs money fast for rent; she has never modeled but she is game to try anything to bring money in. The first time Delia meets Andrew= their chemistry is off the charts insanely hot. Delia gets the job and so begins a slow, burning forbidden on the job romance. It’s a story of finding love where you least expect it. I loved the spunkiness of Delia and the intenseness of Andrew. The Billionaire's Toy is a steamy, hot yet quick read.

I received this book as an ARC reader for Penny. And I am voluntarily giving my honest review.

I swear I don’t know how Penny can get all these new books out there for us to read so often and the quality of her writing never wavers. She is an amazing writer and I fall in love with each one of her books every time I read them. Every book is different and the story hooks you right from the beginning.

Andrew and Delia, have this amazing chemistry you feel right from the start. You can’t stop reading cause you have to know what’s gonna happen next. I can not wait to read what Penny has for us next!

Another great premise for a really hot romance.

This author keeps getting original ideas for both plot and characters. I really liked this couple, they are interesting in personality and jobs.

From a desperate situation, Delia finds herself living a fairytale of glamour and arousal thanks to a gorgeous designer. I loved the fashion environment, the daring shows to highlight the new clothes, and the sensuous realization that they desire each other with a fiery passion.

This is a great novella with enticing scenarios, beautiful dresses, exotic fashion marketing, a dash of kinky behaviour and a good story to envelop the really hot steamy times.

I really enjoyed The Billionaire's Toy. This book was a fun quick read, and was a bit different than some of Ms. Wylder's other books. There was a bit more story and romance, more build up to the passionate and steamy love scenes. You can feel the connection Delia and Andrew have almost instantly; their connection and chemistry is palpable, so when they finally hook up it's hot, and intense, fueled by a bit of exhibitionism. I was privileged enough to receive an advance reader copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

To me this one wasn't as good as some of the authors' earlier works. I just couldn't connect with either of the characters. I didn't really like Andrew. I'm still trying to figure out if I like Delia. The story would have been a quick read, but a few times I got bored with it and had to stop reading. While most of Ms. Wylders fans will like this book, it just wasn't for me.

I love Penny Wylder's style of writing. It's fast-paced, hot and flows smoothly! In this book, I loved the whole concept and where it was going but it fell a little flat and could have been edgier as compared to some of her other books. Does one book made me judge a author on a whole? Absolutely Not! I am and will continue to big a fan of her work! Every reader likes different things as every authors likes to write different genres.

It is a very well written story that is fast paced. I like the storyline and plot. It has hot scenes with believable kink and exhibitionism. Delia and Andrew's story is passionate and both characters develops nicely through the story. They have had a lot to go through and they can help each other.
A short but absolutely enjoyable read.

i have read PW before ... like a billion zillion times and i had wondered what PW had written recently ... now in the past i really loved it all .. but this piece ... i enjoyed it ... but there were parts that kind of got my nerves ... i know it was a shorter book so you had to get the point quicker and whatnot ...but it felt rushed at points and some you wanted to go a bit differently. happy ending ... but??! any one?

If there weren't so many editing issues, many of which affected readability, I would have given this a five. The honesty between the characters was refreshing, as was the maturity and willingness to admit (both internally and interpersonally) insecurity, mistakes, and doubt. I don't mean to suggest that the plot was deep or complicated because it wasn't, even though it was interesting. What was refreshing were the characters who didn't get caught up in a maze of shallow mental obstacles in an attempt to unnecessarily drag out the story, and do so to point of me eventually hating the main characters. Keep in mind, though, that this is a novella of two characters with no previous history. So expect a steep trajectory of intense feelings. I don't usually mind it in Wylder's books, as I think it's one of her strengths on par with Jenika Snow, Alexa Rikey, and especially Juliette Jones and Lauren Hawkeye.

Wow, hot, scorching hot

I was going to read a couple of chapters then get on with my chores and study - didn’t happen. Once I started the book I couldn’t put it down because I just wanted to see what would happen next. Delia and Andrew are so together - gorgeous, sexy, passionate, lusty, sensuous - and so damn hot. The story line captured my imagination and as their relationship grew and they were more into each other, the faster I wanted to read to see what Penny Wylder had in store for them next. I love her books, they always leave me well satisfied and looking for her next offering. Back to the chores now and to find an explanation for being a couple of hours behind schedule from what was planned - I’ll blame Delia and Andrew!

Quick steamy read

I really liked Delia and Andrew. The instant chemistry is believable, but the insta-love threw me. There was very little relationship build up. That part seemed a little rushed . I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. The required angst was a little off and was rushed as well. There were a lot of things in his book that felt a little rushed. But overall really enjoyed the book. Steamy read and the sex scenes are off the charts.

Title doesn't fit but good book overall.

Good read, I don't think the title fits the story maybe billionaires masterpiece or something to that effect but it didn't deter me away. Delia had some fire and when she was out of her shell she took it and ran. Andrew was a little skittish at moments and it had me questioning if I was going to like him. I love my men in control even when things are not in control. Overall he grew on me. Characters were likable , storyline was not bad but it felt stretched. 3 stars

More Than A Muse

Sometimes you just can't resist. Delia is down on her luck but a chance meeting and job as a model to hot designer Andrew is a game changer. She is enjoying the ride but wants more. Andrew wants Delia but he just won't cross that line of professionalism... Until he does.

Short story that packs a punch

Hot fashion designer Andrew falls quickly for Delia, his newly found muse. The chemistry is explosive and the sex scenes are hot. But will Andrew just keep her around to toy with or are the feelings he has real? With great characters and a fast paced but heavy storyline, this is a great read.

The characters

Wow! I loved the characters. I felt like I was in the book. I loved how the last model he hired turned everything around on the other model and made her look bad. I loved how she wasn't afraid after she started modelling. I would recommend her to everyone. I can't wait to read more of her books.

I enjoyed this book. I definitely would have liked to see some more of them connecting while not at the shows because I feel like we were missing a little bit of that depth. But overall, I enjoyed this story and this couple. The last show really made me want to be able to see what all of this stuff looked like!
