Whether it is the creep who watches you from the bar, the creep as death sets in, or the creep of the floorboards at night as you try to sleep, these tales will have you looking over your shoulder.

This was won in a Goodreads Giveaway, and, being a sucker for horror short stories, I was keen to get straight into it upon arrival. It’s slight in length but the author makes good use of the 65 pages on offer. Even the best short story collections can be a bit hit and miss but that’s half the fun of it, for me. This one is more hit than miss and those that really stick in the mind are ‘Wings of One’ (this one was my favourite), ‘Hunter’, ‘Albion is Served’ and ‘Meek Inheritance’. The three poems I could have done without, but then poetry just doesn’t do it for me, and they are thankfully short. I would definitely go back and read these stories again, and could have happily read more.
I received this book as a goodreads giveaway and have to say it was a real treat. It's a nice mix or short stories and poetry, and I have to say I really enjoyed the poetry which surprised me as I didn't think that part of it would be my cup of tea. My favourite stories were Meek Inheritance because of the twist, Hunter, Valentines Day 2017 because of the reference to the song lyrics, and Wings of One as I liked the historical interest. A short book of horror stories is something I would never have previously considered reading /buying but this book has made me think twice about being a bit more open with my book choices in the future. Thank you!
As well as all the twists, turns, thrills, and chills I expect from a horror anthology, I love the humour that creeps through many of the stories and poems. I'll go to bed with a smile on my face tonight, but I may also leave the light on!
