***I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book***

This is the first book I've read from this new to me author. She didn't disappoint me and her book was really entertaining. The book has something for everyone such as humans, aliens, war, greed, and intrigue. The main characters Talon and Jessica have both been betrayed not only by life but by others as well. This is the main reason that they struggle against what they're feeling for the other.

Jessica was betrayed by the Earth's government and put on a spaceship supposedly full of potential brides. The "brides" however are really going to be sold as pleasure slaves until their ship is attacked by "wreckers" or spaceship salvagers. Talon and his brothers are survivors of the plant Revant which was destroyed by the Gorlites their long-time enemy. Now Talon's obsession is to exterminate the Gorlites. The "brides" are rescued by Talon and his brothers. These two feel a strong attraction to each other though neither one has spoken to the about their feelings. The Talon and his brother need help Jessica for her knowledge of her family's criminal activites.

There is a lot of action with plots within plots. They are fighting their enemies the Gorlites and the Federation. They looking for a new home for themselves and the surviving Revants. Revenge, anger, intrigue, love and responsibilities need to acted upon and navigated by Talon and his warrior love interest Jessica.

Jessica used to be a capo (police) on Earth but she was used and abused by the government and finally forced on a " bride ship". This bride ship isn't truly a bride ship since the women on board will be sold as sex slaves. She and her friends are saved by a set of brothers who work as wreckers. They wreck the bride ship but rescue the women on board. Now the women has special jobs to do to earn back their freedom. Jessica goes with one brother who is determine to keep wrecking ships and destroying the enemy who killed his people. Jessica enjoys the battles but is bothered by a missing memory. Her memory was wiped before she was sent on the bride ship.
Talon has been fighting the Gorlites for a long time. The Gorlites destroyed the Revant world and captured Talon and his brothers to be slaves in a mine. The brothers were able to escape and Talon is doing his best to wipe out the Gorlite population. Jessica is a great addition to his group because she is a great warrior. Talon's people actually find proof that their government is helping the Gorlites and has even promised earth to the Gorlites. An invasion force is coming to Earth and talon and his people are Earth's best hope.
This is a great book but it is definitely best to read the books in order. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

This is a tale of love in the time of violent revolution. Talon is one of the last survivors of Revant, a planet doomed to extinction by Federation greed and mis-management. Jessica is a former Capo (police officer) from Old Earth, a planet now doomed by Federation exploitation and neglect - and by betrayal from within. Talon's entire focus is on flying and raiding the ships of the Federation and their savage Gorlite allies. Jessica is likewise motivated by rebellion and revenge, so the two are natural allies and partners in combat. In the midst of tyranny, betrayal, and open revolution, they fight not only for Old Earth, but for the end of the Gorlites and their rapacious, destructive ways, and for the new life they might have together if only they can survive. The romance is hot, but the real attention-grabber here is the revolution, the counter-plots, and the fast and furious battle action on-and-off-world. Author Celeste Raye does a fine job with the action and the suspense; her crisply descriptive narrative brings the adrenaline rush to the forefront, while the simmering love story keeps hope alive. It's a thrill a minute all the way.

Continuing saga

Talon and Jessica are in their spaceship. They are stripping other ships to sell their goods and earn credits. They are also killing any Gorlites they can find. Talon believes them to almost be extinct. They come up on a whole Armada of Federation ships and decide to pick off a stranger ship and strip it just to be a thorn in the side of the Federation. When one ship falls back and they get ready to attack another ship uncloaks next to the ship. It is a Gorlites ship and the Federation are refueling and resupplying them.
They must find out what is going on because the Gorlites were declared as an enemy to the Federation. They go to Old Earth to help because they discover a plot for the Gorlites to take over Old Earth as their planet and kill everyone who is below ground while the above ground people who have the knowledge get to escape.
There is a lot of fighting action in this book, finding the traitors and being betrayed. Jessica and Talon find their HEA, it just takes a while. I liked this book better than the first even though the romance part was small.

Jessica and Talon have joined forces but have not shared their real feelings for each other. They fear the repercussions. When she needs his help to save others, he is there for her. He is willing to risk his life to save the people she cares about and finds himself making some important realizations about the life he has been living.

Jessica has had to be strong to survive. Her childhood is pretty heartbreaking. I was glad the author really developed her story so you could understand her need to save others. She is reluctant to give her heart to anyone but her feelings for Talon are pretty overwhelming. You also get Talon's point of view which helps you understand his actions better. You definitely feel the chemistry between them. I do wish they had more time together as the action takes a lot of the focus.

If you think of this book as more sci-fi series, then it probably will have a slightly higher star rating. The background of the story and the setting was quite interesting. The story fell little short on the romance department as the background story took over and there was not as much time to develop the characters themselves and their attraction. It still is an enjoyable book and should be read if you want to continue with the series. Voluntary and honest review after receiving ARC (advanced reader copy).

Wow! This book is full of fast-paced action, revenge, betrayal, rebellion, hope and love. The main characters of Talon & Jessica are well developed and you feel such empathy with them all the way throughout the story that you think you are there with them. The battle scenes made my heart race, whilst I read them. The author has put so much passion into this book. I think this is my favourite story in this series so far. I look forward to reading the next book.

Happy Days

This book actually makes some sense!! It tells the tale of Jessica, a earther from below the crust and Talon, a warrior from a destroyed planet. It shows what love can do to renew man kinds farther in a better world but also the destruction that enemies both within and without a community can do. It shows that love is something worth fighting for even when the odds are no much more in favor of the enemy!!

Talon

I enjoyed Ms Raye's 2 stories in this book very much. Although the 2nd book was just a couple chapters, it was enough to be intriguing and encouraging enough for me to find that book about Rennal. Ms Rays writes a very interesting story and has my attention to the point that I recommend that you read her stories and add them to your TBR list or your library. You won't be disappointed.

Action packed

Definitely action packed. Who can Jessica and Gallon trust? Can they trust each other? Can they trust Jessica's old allies? The fate of earth lies at the hands of its people.

Talon was on a mission of revenge and everyone knew it. Jessica was trying to save her people. Together they started a civil war and saved a planet. Boy there is a lot of intrigue and action between.
This was so much fun and excitement. Really liked it.
