I give this book four stars because it was well written and it kept me engaged until the end. I must admit though that I wanted to scream at Jen all the way through the book. I can understand that a middle aged woman can feel flattered, hooking up with a younger man, in love or not, but in the end I felt she was a desperate, clinging, selfish woman with no ethics apart from trying to prove to herself she was right. As a story, I was a little disappointed. the idea was sound and could have been a really good thriller/romance, but I feel it lacked a little direction and the reader was very often fed information or background that was irrelevant to the rest of the plot.
I did love Kat though, even if she did seem a little crazy at times.

It was a fast paced thriller. I enjoyed it. The story starts off with Jen receiving a pocket Dial from her boyfriend, Dylan. Jen hears Dylan killing Tommy, his friend Pete's son. Eventhough Dylan was 15 years her junior Jen loved him,she can't believe that he would kill a kid. The story takes her through Jean's life while she weighs the consequences if she goes to the police with this information.

Will Jen provide the police with the evidence?
Why did Dylan kill Tommy?
Does Jen love Dylan enough to hide the evidence?
Read to find out.

At first I Jen drove me crazy because I thought she was just a bimbo but she quickly grew on me. This story had great twists and turns. It was a fun read and I finished it in one night. It also has a satisfying ending.

Initially didn't want to read this mystery because it was about the death of a child...but found instead it was a mystery focusing on the character's journey through life's trials and tribulations.
A fun mystery with a lot of psychological insight!

Loved it! I couldn’t put it down! Kat is my favorite character...every woman should have a friend like Kat. Sandy Magner should write another, and another...

This is a fast-paced thriller with a great premise: a woman answers the phone to hear her (younger and very attractive) boyfriend seemingly taunting, then killing the young son of a local friend. It seems the boyfriend pocket dialed her, and now Jennifer has to decide whether to come clean to the police about what she heard.

The story had some great twists and turns, a relatable (if at times maddening) protagonist. Great read.

I really loved this book. I was surprised to see that it was Magner's first novel. The characters are fun and relatable (not all likable). I love stories with dialogue and Magner nails it with totally real conversations between her characters, making you feel like you are in the room. The intrigue of the mystery lures you in right at the title. Just seeing the title, I wondered, "What was the pocket dial?" "Who was it to?" "What did they hear that would inspire an entire book?" I would recommend this book. It would make a great book club book with meaty characters and opportunity for great conversation if they were in Jen's shoes. Can't wait for Magner's next release.

I managed to read the book- but I keep wondering if it was written by a 14 year old.
Oh he is so cute, Oh I like him so much ,blah blah blah

This could have been a good book, if the author would write as an adult woman . The story line
could have hooked you from the beginning if it did not give you flash back memories of your infatuation with your first "bad boy"

I received Pocket Dial in a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for my honest opinion.

Let me start by saying, if you think Pocket Dial sounds like a good book for you to read, go for it, but you might not want to read any farther. Pocket Dial was definitely not a book for me. The idea behind the whole story was good and the writing was easy to read, but there were so many things that bothered me about this story. First off, I could not stand Jen, the protagonist, and maybe that was why I didn't like this book. Jen overheard her much younger boyfriend, Dylan, murdering someone over a pocket-dial. She then proceeded to keep this information from the police to 'protect' Dylan. But while she was keeping this information from the police she went ahead and told every one she talked to about it. So much for keeping it a secret. Then she turns around and finally decides to tell the police and starts working with them. Yet again, a secret, but what does she do? She tells everyone she sees that she is working with the police to catch Dylan. Miraculously, Jen's big mouth doesn't come back to bite her, but honestly I don't see how. She then goes about trying to figure out the motive behind the killing, playing 'Nancy Drew.' Before everything is said and done and a trial is held, Jen, smart as ever, goes on to antagonize the murderer. Smart move? One would think not.

I'm truly sorry I had to rate this book low, it had so much potential, but it definitely wasn't for me. I'm not trying to persuade anyone else from reading Pocket Dial, I'm just telling you how I felt after reading it.

I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways. As always, an honest review.

Jen gets pocket dialed by her then boyfriend. What she hears will change her relationship and the course of her life forever. What will she do and how will she cope with what she heard on that accidental call?

I have mixed feelings about this story. The premise is intriguing and sets up the reader for a thrilling ride of a story. I felt frustrated with Jen throughout. The writing also took away from the story.

The story would have been better for me if the writing style was different. Throughout the book the main character was telling the story instead of showing. Some people may enjoy this style, but it didn't work for me. At times it seemed a bit simplistic and certain wording didn't seem realistic for that character's age. I also felt frustrated with Jen for multiple reasons, but that also helps to drive the intensity of the story.

The biggest appeal for me was the quick pace. The high intensity story is filled with twists and turns on each page. If you are interested in a book that you will absolutely fly through, then Pocket Dial might be the book for you. I also really liked the premise. It makes for a good story and really makes the reader think, "What if that happened to me?"

In a world run by technology, where Alexa picks up on your every word, and Suri can answer all of your questions it's not hard to imagine over hearing a murder due to a pocket dial.

In this thrilling page turner we learn how someone would really deal in a situation like this. Jen, an older women dating a much younger man, over hears her boyfriend roughhousing with a child who later turns up dead. Jen then grapples with what to tell police, how she feels about her lover and how to protect her family.

A perfect beach read or a great rainy day book. But be prepared to read it all in one sitting!

Thank you Sandy Magner for my autographed copy of this book. This book is an interesting read. This book can help people understand and overcome adversary situations. I recommend that teenage girls and young women should read this book. This book will help in a way that i don't know if the author realized it will help them more than they realize. Thank you Sandy for a very insightful book that will help other women and teenage girls to coop with their feelings. I highly recommend this book to my friends and family.

This was a fun read! We've all made or received pocket calls, although none of mine have been this consequential. I enjoyed the characters, the story and the realism. It could happen! I also appreciated the dilemma presented to Jen. This was a one sitting read. Never even thought about getting a drink or cup of coffee.

Interesting dilemma

This presented an interesting dilemma for the character with lots of twists. I know this was a work of fiction but if we were talking real life I would have to say Jen acted like a infatuated school girl with no sense. Love should always take a back seat to the right thing to do.

Unfortunately, the crime in the book was revealed from the very beginning which made for a very boring read. There was one twist but it was not fully developed, and the ending (which was the most interesting part) was extremely rushed.
