"Careless" is Becca Martin’s debut poetry collection. It is a raw collection of prose poems about accepting less than you deserve, and the hurt, anger, and healing that comes with it.
I really enjoy these poems and those "I know what you mean" moments. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with my copy. At first I wanted to pass it on to someone else who might need it, but then I thought I might like to keep it for reference later on.
I don’t know much about poetry, so I won’t comment on that. I didn’t love one whole particular poem more than the other, but really felt for a lot of separate lines. This collection of poems is something I wish I had after a bad relationship. It’s really the friend you need after that kind of experience. She really capture a lot of what it’s like in these weird, no label relationships and how it feels when it ends and you clearly were the one who cared/loved more.
These poems may look short and sweet, but they'll make you think. They manage to hit on feelings that I didn't even know I had. I'll be keeping this on my coffee table to look through again and again.
