The Nanny and the Playboy

Rate this book
Wayne Myers is a playboy, and doesn’t have time in his life for children. When a little boy is handed to him with the claim to be his son, Wayne knows without a doubt that he’s not the father. Until he can prove it, though, what the hell is he to do with a damn kid?

Temperance Michaels has been a nanny for twelve years, and she’s tired of the constant heartache when she has to walk away. She knows she has to find something else to do with her life, so when she gets a call from Wayne, her first instinct is to turn him down. But after hearing about the young boy who has lost his mother, she caves.

Now that Wayne has a nanny, he intends to lead his own life again. But he didn’t anticipate being attracted to the raven-haired beauty. Temperance is not like any of the women he’s ever been with, and she’s getting under his skin. With Temperance and Timothy in his life, Wayne has the chance to find out what it’s like to have a family of his own, at least for a while. After temporarily enjoying having a woman and a kid, he intends to give them both up.

Will this playboy take a chance or return to his womanizing ways?

A brand-new series that will have the theme of men falling for their nanny.

Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound.
She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.

Here's the thing. Sam's works are a hit or miss. Sometimes the smell of and grammar, sometimes even sentences structure are so bad I can't get through them. But, recently, it hasn't been that bad. I've liked the "plot" lines more and more and can look past the other issues. Here I really liked this plot. I wanted more of an issue from all the characters through. And, even though I did like this story, I feel Temperance forgave him was to easy. The things that transpired at the end would have -to me- made me hate him and if he ever wanted me back he'd have to do a whole lot. But, I do like that sams books always have a HEA and she always has an epilogue or two. Sometimes they don't give that perfect bow to wrap everything up but they are still rewarding as a reader.

“The Nanny and the Playboy” is the story of Temperance and Wayne.
When Timothy is dumped on Wayne after his mother dies, Wayne knows that’s not his son- and before he can sort out the paternity, reluctantly agrees to hire a nanny to help out with the boy.
Enter Temperance, the uber efficient and highly recommended nanny, and sparks fly.
Now if you’ve ever read a SC book- you’re familiar with her trope. A curvy heroine- slightly insecure- something related to baking or cooking- douchebagy playboy hero- amazingly hot sex scenes.
This book had it all- but the hero’s dilemma stretched a bit too long for me and I did not like his “hot and cold” drama towards the end. I also love a good grovel, but alas..
That being said, 10/10 for the sex scenes and the gorgeous cover.

Boring
The writing was off. There was no chemistry between the two and it took me an entire week to make any progress because I kept on hating every page. Eventually, I'm giving up. I skimmed most of the book but I don't even care to know what the ending was. Oh, and forgot to say that hero's frined was disgusting. What kind of a man refers to his wife as only good at sucking. This made me hate this book instantly

Wayne Myers doesn't know who the woman is that claimed he fathered a four year old boy and when the boy is left in his care, he knows its impossible. After getting called out for being uncaring, he hires a nanny who will take care of the child and maybe draw him out.

Temperance Michaels knows she needs a change, she is tired of nannying for families only to have to walk away after getting close and having to say goodbye. Deciding to take one last job and work for Wayne Myers. What starts off as a boss/employee relationship quickly builds to something more intimate. However, Wayne Myers never planned on a family but is he willing to let them walk away?

I enjoyed this one. Wayne is a bit aloof and given his past you understand why he is the way he is. I liked Temperance, she was warm and brings out the best in people. Look forward to more books in this series.

It was a great way to start new series.
Temperance and Wayne were good for each other. They both had the same dream, and they could reach it toghter. Though Wayne fought it by being an asshole. Though, I think he was just scared that at the end it wouldn't last and it's better to enjoy for today and give it all up 'tomorrow'. Wayne wasn't this cold asshole he played to be. He had a heart. It just needed the right woman to see it.

Sam I haven't cried in awhile and I gotta admit this made me cry... and I never wanted to kill a chara so badly lol

We meet cold hearted business man Wayne Myers he has found out he has a long lost son... the woman he slept with died and now this sweet 4 year old boy name Timothy is now in his care.  But Wayne lifestyle is not taking care of a kid or having kids. So he has a plan here a nanny to take care of the kid until he gets the DNA results.

We meet Temperance she's been a nanny for 12 years she loves kids and she always gets attached.. her last nanny gig she was fired from because of the new wife, she gets a call from Wayne thanks to her last employer to take care of his kid.

Temp and Timothy have a great bond it makes your heart hurt how adorable she is with him.. and Wayne learns from her starting to stay home abit more eating lunch with them, even going to the park..

But not everything is sunshine and cupcakes.. you get some heavy drama that breaks your heart.. I wont give that part away..

The main character temperance was a little to gullible to me and so easy to fall for Wayne even though he treated her like crap and was so heartless I guess he made it back up but she talked a big game about being strong all that but then once he started she was putty loved the story very disappointed in main characters

My only complaint about this book is that there are endless female names so there is no reason to recycle them and Temperance was used in the Billionaire Bikers MC series. To me that’s just lazy and a name like that stands out so I’m sure I’m not the only one who noticed. Temperance is 30 years old, she’s been a nanny for over twelve years and it’s starting to take a toll on her. She’s tired of the constant heartache she feels every time she must say goodbye to a family she’s become attached to. She’s been with the Thompson family for three years, long before Robert married his current trophy wife. The current Mrs. Thompson didn’t like the fact that her four step-children liked Tempe much better than they liked her. Robert wanted to keep his new wife happy so he let Tempe go even though he knew deep down it was a mistake. Wayne Myers is 40 years old, he’s a rich, successful businessman who only has time for his company. He was completely shocked when social services showed up at his office with a four year old boy named Timothy. According to them Timothy’s mother just died and she listed Wayne as the boy’s father. He knows it’s impossible because at the time of Timothy’s conception Wayne was in Europe for over a year. But until the DNA test results are finished he’s stuck with the boy having absolutely no clue what to do with him. He goes through three nannies before an associate, Robert Thompson gives him Tempe’s number and raves about what a great nanny she is. Tempe swore after leaving the Thompson house that she was done being a nanny and would look for a different job. When she receives a call from Wayne, she’s aware of who he is but she’s not impressed by him or his money. When he tells her about Timothy losing his mom and that he had to fire three nannies because they had no patience for the poor child she can’t say no. This book broke my heart and I cried for Timothy, he was such a sweet boy who thank goodness got his happy ending. Some people probably didn’t like Wayne but while I didn’t agree with everything he did I could see why he was like that and I actually felt bad for him being so closed off.

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

Temperance was a nanny and she was just let go from her last job and decided that she wanted a change in her career. Every time she seems to get attached to the children and then she's asked to leave. So now she wants a change.
But when a little boy was given to Wayne saying that he is the father, he has no clue what to do and is adamant he is not the father. So when he gets Temperance name from a friend he knows he needs help.
The minute she meets the child Temperance knows she can't leave him. He just lost his mother and he needs her. But can she put up with the arrogant and selfish and playboy Wayne Myers.

A story about a guy who didn't want to get attached to anything besides his single life and his work and now he's being brought down by a little boy and his nanny. :-)

”All of his life all he’d ever really wanted was a family of his own, and yet he had nothing. No woman he trusted or even loved, no kids, nothing.”

Great story! Sam Crescent rarely lets me down! I wouldn’t do much call Wayne a playboy as much as a selfish workaholic. I also liked that Tempe wasn’t some fresh faced 20 year old nanny but a 30 year old woman with 12 years of experience who knew exactly what she was getting into. It was so sweet watching the two of them fall in love not only with each other but with Timothy as well. Great book and I’ll be checking out others in this nanny series.

Had potential but lack of proper editing and proofing took away from the read. The story also felt immature and unlikely. The plot was unique but as the story folded the character’s responses felt immature. A new author to me and I wanted to like this book. I decided to give it a go due to the good ratings. The story had potential. It was a little unusual so it peaked my interest. Unfortunately, that was as good as it got. There is nothing I hate more than reading a book I paid for that is riddled with mistakes. Auto correct does not replace editing and proofing!!!!! I can’t tell you how many times the author mistakenly called Wayne Robert, or even by his little boy Timothy. Auto correct won’t catch that. Many time sentences didn’t make sense or the words were poorly put together so you had to read it a few times to try and understand what was meant. This takes the reader out of their read and it does not make me feel warm and fuzzy about the author. Proofing, editing - especially with all the people who read for free is just something that shouldn’t need to be asked of the author. It almost seemed like the draft was translated 😉 and then not properly proofed and edited. I don’t know who Evernight Publishing is but you may want to use a little more care and ‘attention’!

A Surprisingly Tender and Complex Story of Second Chances...

I have read quite a few books by Sam Crescent and enjoyed them all. However this first book in Crescent’s “The Nannies” series is a bit different and much tamer than her normal darker fare, and well, despite being a bit vanilla for my tastes I can’t say I hate it. In fact quite the contrary, as I rather liked the more heartfelt, emotionally centered story about an unsuspecting billionaire and the baby that throws his life into turmoil.

Here with, “The Nanny and the Playboy”, Crescent gives us the story of Wayne, Temperance, and Timothy; Wayne being a forty year old business mogul famous as much for his womanizing prowess as he is for his business genius. An always in control, calculating, cold, and indifferent man with a well-guarded past, Wayne’s painstakingly manicured life is thrown a curveball when social services turns up with recently orphaned Timothy, a four year old boy they claim he is the father of. A moniker he refuses to accept, and being the cold-hearted bastard that he is, quickly uses his contacts to employ a nanny to deal with the child while he figures out how to debunk his newly found father status and send the boy away.  And the nanny herself, Temperance, a highly regarded and much beloved nanny, a woman who takes her job seriously and cares deeply for her charges, so much so that she places her own life and desires for a family of her own on hold to care for other people’s children despite the heartache it brings her when she has to move on to a new family.

And my gods, when the nanny with a heart of gold and a deep, deep well of love for the children in her care meets the man made of ice and stone all hell breaks loose. What follows is a surprisingly complex and tender story of overcoming fear and second chances at life and love.  A story about being brave enough to admit when you are wrong and then doing whatever it takes to make things right.

I was quite frankly a bit shocked at the seriousness of the overall tone of this story. It is far beyond a simple boss/employee romance trope; here Crescent delves deeper, giving us characters that have to make life altering decisions and deal with the very real consequences they bring. She plunges Wayne and Temperance into chaos, tilts their worlds sideways, and puts them both on a journey that will alter both their lives, all the while maintaining a level of chemistry between the two that will melt your heart and bring tears to your eyes at different times throughout.

It was a great story, one that definitely took me by surprise, and once again taught me that you most definitely cannot judge of romance book by its cover…

My Thoughts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As expected one of my favorite writers, Sam Crescent has comes out with a fabulous start to a new series that features a leading lady that isn’t a perfect size 2.

The woman has curves, and not the prototype female depicting that we should all be size 2

instead of the healthy average size of most women in society.

The Nanny and The Playboy is the first book in her new series, The Nannies.

Wayne Myers has poor 4 year old Timmy dumped on him by a social worker. Wayne is not only a big jerk, but he doesn’t want to be bothered with a kid he knows isn’t his.

He runs into his friend Robert, whose wife just fired their nanny because she didn’t like the fact that the kids were becoming attached.

Temperance( only critique I hated her name ) is one of the most sought after nannies around, but she has a terrible habit of becoming highly attached to her charges.Longing for a family of her own.

She’s plus-sized, and hasn’t had a lot of love in her life.

She meets Wayne and doesn’t particularly care for him, but she meets Timmy and decides to take the job.

Wayne may say he’s not his, but as time goes on, he starts to care for both Timmy and Temperance. When Temperance is hurt, Wayne makes a decision that may ruin everything.

At this point I really hated that man

Wayne for me was difficult to be liked in this book, his first treatment of a small child set my hackles up, but as the story progressed getting to know him and his background made him more like able

Temperance was just lovable from the start. This was a wonderful story, with a HEA that Sam is so well known for!

Wayne Myers didn’t t know who the woman is that claimed he fathered a four year old boy and when the boy is left in his care, he knows its impossible.

He does get called out by his friends and his PA for being such an asshole and so uncaring towards a small child,

Temperance knew she needs a change, she was growing tired of been a nanny for families only to have to walk away after getting close and having to say goodbye.

I enjoyed this one. Wayne takes a lot to start warming up to his character he is aloof yet once you understand his past you understand why he is the way he is.

Well Done Sam Crescent another success Look forward to more books in this series.

I have book 2 bought and waiting to read.

I really enjoyed this book. I devoured this book in one sitting and wasn’t once bored. I really liked Temperance. I liked how loving and selfless she was. I adored the bond Temperance had with Timothy.
I wasn’t a fan of Wayne. I understood his reasons but I didn’t like his cold attitude. I wanted him to open up and let Timothy and Temperance into his heart.
I was irritated when Wayne asked Temperance why she was clapping for Timothy who was coming down the slide. Wayne was the one that took the day off. Wayne was the one to take part in Temperance and Timothy’s schedule, yet he was moody and put them on edge.
What I didn’t expect was for this book to make me cry. I won’t say anything to spoil this story for anyone but the hospital scene made me cry. My heart hurt for Temperance.
I liked that Wayne redeemed himself. I will admit that I didn’t want Temperance to forgive him so easily. In my opinion, Temperance forgave Wayne too easily. I wanted her to make Wayne work for her forgiveness. What he did wasn’t something easy to forgive – in my opinion. Despite that, I really liked the ending for this book, I was happy for Timothy.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read.

When little Timothy is dropped off with Wayne by someone claiming he is Wayne's son, he is at a lose as how to deal with him. Temperance is a professional nanny and having been left go from her previous job because of a new and jealous wife, she is looking for work. She is suggested to Wayne as someone who would help with Timmy and she finally agrees to help Wayne out. Slowly, Temperance and Timothy are working their way into Wayne's heart but he doesn't believe he is worthy of her love. Temperance was a beautiful woman who is just trying to make her way in the world. I loved her from the start; and little Timmy. I just fell for him and wanted to adopt him myself. Wayne was such a jerk at times and I so wanted to reach through the kindle and smack him upside the head. Will he finally be able to see what he had before he looses it? And will Temperance and Timothy let him back in? This was a heartfelt and feel good story that will have you rooting for the 3 of them!

Wayne has no time for children and there is no way that this little boy is his. It is a mistake but he needs someone to watch him while he gets this all straightened out. Temperance has been a nanny for 12 yrs. It is about time she started looking for something different, children of her own and family. But when she gets a call for help, she can’t resist. Tempe isn’t impressed with Wayne and his money. Wayne is shocked by what he sees. I love that he thinks that the “nanny” is going to be some old lady. Nope. She is a 30 yrs. old woman that has curves. She puts up a good fight to resist him. Wayne isn’t all bad. You think so in the beginning by the way he acts with Timothy first arrives but he starts to soften up. Plus you find out why he is the way he is. Wayne did screw up though. I was heartbroken but he figured it out.

2,5 ⭐

The resolution was too easy.

I really liked this story. I liked the depth of the characters. The four year old wasn’t fleshed out at though. The female lead I could relate to. The male lead was a coward with money. Even still he was a likable character that eventually made the right choices. He unfolded nicely.

The resolution of his mistakes was too easy. Money doesn’t solve everything. And it doesn’t always make things happen faster. In no way would an adoption would have been pushed through in three weeks in the USA. And so I was annoyed with that.

Otherwise, it was a sweet short read. Just FYI the sex was boring and uninteresting. Enjoy.

Not a bad start. The male lead is an asshole here. He deserves to suffer and be put in the ringer. Let him grovel so much that makes me feel sorry for him. Let him truly get some more competition for her love. He deserves to really watch her be lost to him. Please get a worthy man who can really pleasure her in all ways find her. Heal the damage the douche before him did to her. Make her realize all of her potential. Also if the author could make him realize that in order to have her again, he'll have to share her. It's a possible story there as well. Wink wink.
