An undercover Star Guardian agent sworn to enforce the law...
A US marine turned galactic pilot, inadvertently breaking the law...

Trapped on a mysterious planet full of dangerous ruins, these two enemies must work together - and deal with their growing attraction - as they struggle to survive...

It’s been two years since delegates from the Confederation visited our solar system, pointing out a wormhole that leads into the rest of the galaxy. Former Marine Michelle “Mick” Saunders was one of the first people from Earth to acquire a spaceship and venture out among the stars. Still haunted by the devastating event that prompted her to leave the military, she’s led a lonely life of late, and longs to find something greater out there...

But for now, she has a spaceship to pay off, so her longings must be set aside. When an Earth corporation wants to send a team of researchers to a uninhabited planet full of ancient human ruins, she accepts the job of transporting them. Little does she know that someone else has a claim on the planet, and that there’s a reason it isn’t inhabited anymore...

When Mick runs into a Star Guardian, one of the fierce warriors that enforce Confederation laws, she realises she should have asked more questions before accepting the mission. A lot more questions. Even though the hunky Ariston is someone she would rather date than fight, he doesn’t look like one to be swayed from his duty by a flirty smile. Instead, he’s determined to arrest her!

Ariston, a Star Guardian placed under cover on a salvage ship suspected of illegal activities, hasn’t known contentment since he lost his wife years ago. But he’s not looking for anyone new. Especially now. He has evidence to gather and a rogue crew to turn in. There’s no time for distractions, definitely not in the form of an Earth woman trespassing on a protected planet!

But Mick, a fighter and a beauty, intrigues him. Despite his certainty that he shouldn’t get involved, he finds himself wanting to protect her from the dangers of the ruins, as well as the salvage crew plotting to capture her vessel. His mission would have been daunting even without extra complications, but now, he must choose between his duty and the woman rousing feelings within him for the first time in years!

Ariston is the sixth science fiction romance novel set in the Star Guardians universe. It is a complete, stand-alone adventure that can be read without familiarity with the rest of the series.

Ariston can go undercover with me any time. Mmmm. Mmmm. Mmmm. Forty-three, a few silver hairs, six-pack abs, moves like a ninja and a great sense of humor. I'm not one of those romance readers who have a book boyfriend too often, but Ariston can lose a bet and press up into a handstand in front of me any day. Seriously, that scene was HOT.

Add in that he acknowledges his attraction to warrior-woman turned galactic pilot Mick, and my heart melted just a little. For four years he has been mourning his Star Guardian wife, and after a few encounters with Mick showing her battle moves, he is uncomfortably aware that his libido is functioning after all. Her appeal catches him completely by surprise, but he embraces the moment as much as he can while not quite sure what Mick is doing on this isolated planet with a team of Earth scientists. Honor and principles, too. Mmmm. Mmmm. Mmmm.

The sixth addition the Star Guardians series by Ruby Lionsdrake. Michelle “Mick” Saunders hired out her spaceship to carry a bunch of scientists to a planet to check it out for possible colonization for a company from Earth. But they had barely landed when another ship is attacked and crash lands on the planet. Then her own ship is in danger. If not for the help of Ariston, Mick and her passengers would be dead and her ship salvaged.

This is not really related to the previous Star Guardians books except for the fact the Mick is Katie's (from Zakota) sister and Ariston is a Star Guardian. I really enjoy Ms. Lionsdrake's style of writing. She creates some interesting characters and keeps the story moving at a nice pace.

I ordered and read this book when it first came out but hadn’t had a chance to write a review for it so now, since I didn’t take notes, all you get are mainly my feelings about the book. I loved this installment and am so glad she wrote it. It is nice to read a story from another’s PoV regarding the happenings from the first series. I was mainly happy to read more from the world she had created—it has so much potential.
I really liked Ariston he wasn’t the normal hero/star guardian and Mick wasn’t the usual heroine. The wondering either did in regards to whether or not the other person had nefarious plans was nicely done.
The mystery as to what happened to the planet was super imaginative and I enjoyed the unfolding of that little tid bit
I look forward to reading more books/stories about this world.

Another fun story in the Star Guardians series! I loved this one and Mick was a fun heroine. She was a badass and went after what she wanted.

I hope we get more!

Innuendos in Deep🍌🌋 Space💫

When Michelle(Mick) lands her ship🚀, the Viper🚀, on a now uninhabited planet🌍 with archeological ruins, she has no idea the trouble she is getting herself into. The group of archeologists and scientists she is dropping off are clueless, too.

They are followed to the site by a huge, so called salvage ship🚀 and a smaller ship.🚀 The salvage ship🚀 is heavily armed and destroys the smaller ship🚀. Maybe these are more space pirates, than honest salvagers.

Ariston🐺🍌🌋, a tall, handsome, ripped💪 Space Guardian Warrior🔪, is working undercover in engineering aboard the salvage ship🚀, Pleasant Journey. He's a lonely widower💔, his wife having died four years before.

His assignment is to catch the Captain and crew breaking the law. He thinks They are attacking and destroying ships so they can then salvage them!

The smaller ship the Pleasant Journey attacks is a relic hunter ship. They are landing at the ruins to look for ancient Wanderer technology, which is superior to modern technology. It's all 🚫illegal because the planet is off limits to landing without permission, but the attack is highly 🚫illegal, too.
There is something weird about the planet🌍, too, it's reported to be haunted.
The Captain of the Pleasant Journey then directs Ariston and the other men in his crew to shuttle down to the surface, capture the Viper🚀, Mick's ship, and kill everyone on board.
A planetside🌍 battle insues, and Ariston is captured by Mick.. Actually he wants to help her and keep her crew and the archeologists from being killed, and use her ship🚀 to get home. He also wants to arrest her for landing without permission on the planet🌍, but There are far more important issues at hand.
Mike💋🚀 is instantly highly attracted to Ariston🐺💪🍌🌋🔪🔫 and they begin a verbal dance of constant sexual innuendos as they work together to fight the Pleasant Journey🚀 crew and repair the damaged Viper🚀.
YEHAW! Ride em Bareback🍌, Cowgirl!🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎

Great alpha 👽Alien sci-fi with plenty of action, on the planet🌍 and in the bedroom! I have read all of the Star Guardian 📚books so far, but they are all stand alone novels, too. Recommend!

Silly Fun

So, I label all Space Romance as silly, but only bad ones as stupid.

This book is a fun, fast read. You don’t have to read the previous Star Guardians books to read this one, but it does help to have the background of how Earth joined the rest of the galaxies in space. Plus, they’re fun reads too.

If you’re looking for a deep, angsty read, this book won’t cut it. But the main characters are likable, the secondary characters are well thought out and aren’t just sounding boards for the mains. There’s some good science fiction in all of her novels (Mandrake Company are still some of my favorites), but not so much that you glaze over the technicals of what she’s talking about. Especially when the main character isn’t a scientist and is the reader’s way of saying ‘yeah, layman’s terms and move on’.

There’s humor, a slow build, the usual Ruby version of outside influences that keep up tensions without using the whole cliche of misunderstandings keeping them apart. Good combat scenes, a twist of a mystery in the universe we are just now discovering and no damsel in distress. Mick kicks ass and gets noticed doing it.

I’m glad Ruby is continuing to write in this world she’s built. While there are some Star Guardians from the initial series I’d like to see again, I also like the idea of expanding upon the people and the crews.

One last note, on world building...This is a huge universe she’s writing. Aliens and Human outposts, wars in the galaxy, an ancient technology and wormholes...Earthlings are the newcomers to the drama that’s been unfolding the last few hundred years. As quickly as the books were published, none of the world building feels rushed. It all builds on the blocks she’s put down in other books. Even if I hated these characters, I’d pick up the next one just to see what other revelations about the Wanderers she’d let slip.

More intergalactic shenanigans with the Star Guardians! Or in this case, with an undercover operative of the Star Guardians. Given that Mick's current transporting job isn't exactly on the up and up (never trust a corporation to give you all the facts, man!), she and Ariston meet under some rather...interesting circumstances.

You know, they type where she thinks he's one of the bad guys and he thinks she's there to loot a protected planet. GOOD TIMES!

Actually, it really is a good time. Mick somewhat reluctantly joins forces with Ariston and they have to devise a way to get themselves off the planet before very bad things happen. Very. Bad. Things. Did I mention Mick's ship is damaged and they're going to need to engage in some thrilling heroics if any of them hope to make it out of this confrontation in one piece? Also, decontamination showers should be standard on every ship if it means sexy Star Guardians need to get naked every so often. Just sayin'.

I like these Star Guardians. I like when scientists talk science. I like surprise sexy times with two VERY consenting adults. Heck, I like it all. Weird alien tech and everything.

Mick and Ariston

Mick is flying human scientists to a human colony planet that has been deserted for centuries. They want to find out why the colony failed and is the planet habitable for future colonization.

Ariston is a Star-Guard, undercover on a ship that is known to be attacking other ships. After weeks of watching the ship's Captain finally fires on another ship and plans to kill everyone and salvage what's left.

They meet down on the planet while Mick is trying to hold off the mercenaries trying to kill her and her scientists she see's on the bad guys attacking the other bad guys. Bad guy turned good is Ariston.

Now if the planet stops trying to kill them they just might be able to work together to save themselves and her ship.

Very interesting story. More action than Romance but the hint of Romance between the two is always enticingly there. There is some great character building; I like really getting to know a character more than just superficially.

This book is very different from the previous Star-Guardian stories but I really enjoyed it. This world, Ms. Lionsdrake has invented, is fascinating. I hope there are many more stories to come!

Ariston is a follow up on the Star Guardians series by Ruby Lionsdrake, with the plot taking place about two years after the end of book 5 in the original series. Ariston might also be my favorite in the whole series, and I loved following the adventures of Mick and Ariston. I did feel the end was a little bit rushed, and there are a few plot details I wish the author had given us more detail about (I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be as cool as Mick was with an alien chip lodged in my brain), but as a whole it was still a page turner and a book I just couldn't put down.

While Amazon claims it can be read as a stand alone, I believe having the insight of the previous books was useful to grasp the entire reach of the story.

Overall, I had a lot of fun with this series (even if I felt the latest books to be much better than the initial ones) and I wish the author had written more, as I believe there were still some very interesting characters who deserved their own full sized story.

There is one additional novella, Mikolos, that you can download for free on Ruby Lionsdrake FB page here.

A fun, sexy read.

This is a stand alone in Ruby Lionsdrake’s Star Guardians universe. You don’t have to have read the previous titles to enjoy the story. I don’t like ruining the plot in a review, so I’m not going to summarize. I did however like this story a lot. The pace is fast, there is a lot of action, the heroine wasn’t indecisive, and the love story wasn’t insta-love. It was a sexy slow burn that when the two protagonists came together it felt satisfying and not forced. Sometimes the H seemed a little “too good” but he’s a Star Guardian and they don’t really break the rules.

Overall, I am enjoying this series and it’s now on my auto purchase list. They’re fun, exciting books. Each couple is different with different personalities and quirks. It’s nice to read a series with such memorable couples. If you liked the other books in this series, you will not be disappointed.

Ruby Lionsdrake is my go to author for top notch Sci Fi Romance. Ariston, as with the entire Star Guardians series so far, shows why this is so. It’s because Lionsdrake knows how to write stories that are, somehow, at the same time great Sci Fi (and which would remain great stores even without the romance) and great, sexy, romance. Sadly there are tons of SFR authors who don’t know how to write both (or in some cases either) way. So here we go again, with another wonderfully sexy Star Guardian and wonderfully competent (and yes, beautiful) gal for him to fall in love with in the course of a great adventure (see the Goodreads blurb for a perfectly good description) thats perfectly written as only Ruby Lionsdrake can do (no surprise there, really, as “Lionsdrake” is the SFR pen name of Lindsay Buroker, one of the best mainstream Sci Fi authors actively writing today).

I enjoyed this sixth book well enough, the characters were likable enough it just felt like it was missing a little something. Maybe more fleshing out of the other scientists on the ship with Mick? And the attraction between her and Ariston was okay, but just didn't have me totally convinced? Or maybe they were all over each other way quick? Or maybe his cluelessness on how people interacted - because if he was that bad at lying, reading people or bluffing how the hell was he able to do undercover work successfully????? I don't know there just seemed to be something not quite as good or up to the standard that I expected from Ruby Lionsdrake. Don't get me wrong, it was still a good read, just not as blown away as I've been in the past and didn't get sucked into the story the way I have in the past.

This book takes place a few years after the original Star Guardians series. Mick is a former soldier and a sister of one of the original kidnapped women. She has her own spaceship and has been hired by an Earth corporation to take a team of scientists to explore a planet for potential colonization. The planet is no longer inhabited, all human life died out centuries ago.

As Mick's ship lands on this planet, a salvage ship that uses illegal means attacks and destroys another ship which crash lands on the same planet. There is a Star Guardian named Arison working undercover on the salvage ship and he works with Mick to stop the illegal activity and to deal with the odd happenings on the planet. Well written good story.

Super Star Guardian

Ariston is the cream of the crop when it comes to the Star Guardian's. Since the loss of his beloved wife and Captain he chooses to go it solo and dangerous. Mick is just who he needs to make him while again. She is a soldier suffering from survivors built who is trying to make a go of it in this new Galaxy. They both find themselves on a uninhabited Planet with a not so friendly reputation. Their missions collide in violence as Ariston's undercover identity is blown and her crew ends up in the crosshairs of the bad guys he is trying to bring to justice. Mick and Ariston team up to see both crews find their way home or judged. What ever the case Ariston & Mick form a bond that heals them both. DanaLynn

This one was about a slightly older couple and has lots of adventure and battling with not a ton of build up and back story. I found myself skimming through a lot of the fight scenes, maybe they’re just not my thing but the step by step fight choreography was a little much at times. I also wasn’t a big fan of the physical flirtation between the couple, I just found it cheesy and hard to get into. The planet itself was interesting, and I would have liked a little more info about the wanderer tech and the civilization, since we’ve been learning bits and pieces about it throughout the storyline. Overall, I’d say it’s a okay read, not my favorite from Lionsdrake but not bad either.

So happy to have more to read in this series! And especially at this longer length - there was a lot more room for a more layered plot, and even though the timeline is fairly condensed, the connection between Mick and Ariston is believable and doesn't fall into insta-love territory. Setting this book two years after the others was a good choice, I think. Gaians haven't exploded into the galaxy, but of course we're barging into other territories without stopping to ask permission. Humans!

I hope that Lionsdrake keeps adding more characters and stories in this world!

By far my favorite in the series!

Wasn't sure Ruby could write anyone that would outdo Heirax, but she did! I only wish it were longer! Could not put it down! Loved the storyline of this book. I normally don't enjoy worlds where aliens look like humans, but the series posed a very plausible sci-fi reason: the Wanderers. Definitely can't wait to learn more about them, mainly where they disappeared to!

Enjoyed it

I really enjoyed this book. I've read all the Star Guardian books but this was one of my favorites. This is a standalone book set in the same universe. A strong heroine and lots of action. If you're looking for a book that goes straight to sex then this isn't for you. There is lots of action and a nice steady build of their characters and attraction to each other. If you liked the other books then I would definitely recommend this book.

Mature man, younger woman = smexy times

Ariston got my motor revving in all the right ways. The adventure kept me on my toes, the romance kept me intrigued, and the characters kept me focused. Mick was awesome, funny, and Amazonian in all the right ways. Ariston was such an honorable character that his internal dialog made me wish there were more men out there with a strong concept of honor. Also, he was super sexy.

It was a pretty good read. The setting was different from the norm, which gets points with me. The weird stuff going on down on the ground I could never really figure out so I stayed confused as to what they were dealing with there. Unless I skipped over it, it wasn’t really revealed just what everyone was seeing - except some internal chemistry going haywire. Anyway, it was not the best nor was it the worst book I have read in this category.

Great spinoff space adventure from the Star Guardians Series

From the mysterious strange events happening on the planet to the analysis of diets and individual reactions to the planet’s influence on their behavior, the attraction and romance of an unlikely couple from different worlds emerges in spite of all odds not in their favor. I enjoyed reading this spinoff and traveling on this journey.

I think spicy space opera could become my new favourite SFF subgenre.

What made this one great was the story that went a,one with the spice. As with other Buroker stories (Lionsdrake is a pseudonym), this story comes with a hunky man and much witty banter, although in this book, witty banter is overt flirting and sexy talk.

The run up to sexy times doesn’t deflect from the story of the plot, a distinction I appreciate.

10/10 will fly with Lionsdrake again.

Fast-Paced Adventure

A mystery planet, a sexy undercover cop (sort of), and an unknowing trespasser add up to adventure. I really enjoy the Star Guardians books. I never hesitate to spend my money on one of Ruby's books. They always guarantee a great story. The covers aren't too bad either. 😏

Well done!

I really liked this book. I loved how the heroine Mick was a ex-marine and so capable and smart. Ariston was a Star Guardian who was uncompromising about following the law. He had character and even though he was attracted to Mick he recognized he wanted more than a quick fling. He did the right thing! The story was well written.

Excellent!

Liked the overall storyline and character development. If you're like me and enjoy a romantic space adventure with personal attraction and interaction from the start, building on trust, friendship, and companionship throughout the story (not just sex), then I recommend this book to you.

A good read

This standalone KU library read was a good introduction for me to the Star Guardians series. It is an easy read, containing enough humor, action and tension to keep me reading till the end. At times it was repetitious and characters became caricatures, but it ended well. It gets 3.5 stars.

Good addition

I have really enjoyed this series and I was glad when we got one more with Aristotle and Mick.
I enjoyed the slow buildup with their relationship and I liked that they are both strong and worked well together.
I would of liked more about the planet and the things going on and about the stones but overall a good read, well worth taking the time and reading.
