Singapore Under Attack By Uzi Ellam A Fascinating Techno-Thriller

Singapore Under Attack by Uzi Ellam is a fascinating techno-thriller. The intensity of latest technology in the story is crisp and up-to-the-mark. It clearly shows Uzi's clarity and depth of knowledge and its excellent use in creating this enthralling thriller. In fact, reader faces a good amount of anxiety right on the first page of the novel when two bridge cranes, each transporting a 40-foot container start moving towards each other thus indicating a big mishap at ultra-modern Port of Singapore’s shipping container terminal. The shift supervisor in the control room immediately orders his staff to stop the two cranes moving in each other's direction. Since the whole control room is automated, in such cases an immediate manual intervention is important to handle it properly to avoid any serious mishap. Finally, the two giant sea vehicles stop just a few yards away from each other.

While the complete routing mechanism comes to manual from automatic thus bringing the overall throughput of the port to 50%, an investigating team is analyzing the cause of this close encounter. The software is working perfectly fine and there is no bug indicating a malfunction of the automatic routing code. There is a high-level meeting to ascertain the cause and discuss any risks. Officials from various functions call it an accidental incident due to an electromagnetic flash causing a malfunction in the otherwise perfect code. The logic could convince everybody except Brigadier-General David Rogel who senses a cyber attack causing the two cranes' collision. All the eyes are set now on Dr. Gideon Ben Ari who would be arriving at the port in the next few days. He is coming here with a young Israeli, Dan Avni for understanding and resolving their civil technology issues.

Ari has a specialization in advanced technology. Hence, he would be the right person to identify if this incident was merely an accident or not. In fact, it was actually a cyber attack. Everybody understands that if this is a cyber attack, the things will not stop here. Finally, it turns out to be a cyber attack by the Iranians in Singapore. They were targetting the Israeli and American embassies to start with. But gradually their intentions were to cause a chain of disasters leading to global terror. That is just the beginning of this super-exciting thriller Singapore Under Attack. Now, it is Gideon and his international task force team versus a cyber conspiracy by Iranians in Singapore to the turmoil in the peace of the world.

Set in the same series as the book I reviewed earlier this week, A Trap in Paris, Singapore Under Attack once again features Dr. Gideon Ben Ari, a brilliant specialist in advanced technology, with an impressive career in the defense forces. This time, Dr. Gideon Ben Ari is called upon by the Israeli Mossad to combat a cyber attack planned by the Iranians in Singapore, which would target the Israeli and American embassies and cause worldwide terror.

Gideon must think out of the box if he wants to stop this cyberattack. He’d helped by an international task force, but the responsibility falls solely on his shoulders, and he has to stay alert and use all his skills, if he wants to stop this cyberthreat.

Another excellent thriller, although not as good as A Trap in Paris, which I read previously. I thought that the cyberattacks were often a little farfetched, and thought the other book was more realistic. Still, very enjoyable, and would definitely recommend it to thriller fans, especially cyberthrillers.

Whatever flaws we might identify or frustrations we might feel are trivial in comparison to a reader’s pure joy in losing himself/herself in a narrative. When all the elements come together: an intriguing plot, thoughtful, profound themes, complex, troubling, characters, and language that will amaze for its clarity, directness and confidence; we gratefully set all analysis aside and give ourselves up to the sheer magic of a great book. And for me, Singapore Under Attack, is such a book.

Author Uzi Eilam weaves an intense tale of mystery and suspense, with intriguing twists and turns that will easily captivate the reader’s attention from the beginning. The author paints an ultra-high-stakes story of international intrigue in a very vivid and convincing way.

The book description gives a sneak preview; ‘Dr. Gideon Ben Ari, a brilliant specialist in advanced technology, is called upon by the Israeli Mossad to combat a highly sophisticated, malevolent cyber-attack planned by the Iranians in Singapore to target the Israeli and American embassies and then a multifocal chain of worldwide terror. The novel provides a rare peek into the Iranian decision-making process, replete with fascinating, volatile internal power struggles.

Gideon must come up with futuristic technological solutions, developed in real time, to be put into effect immediately by an international task force. His rich combat experience as an Israeli Army commander also comes into play. The highest ranks in Singapore, including strong, influential women in the fields of economy and government, give Gideon their full support in this tale of love, lust, the whims of the human spirit, and the war of good against evil…’

Now, if that’s not enough to whet your appetite, I don’t know what will. But if you want to find out what happens you’ll just have to turn the pages for yourself to find out! But I will say it’s well worth the read. It’s my first time reading this author and I must say I was very impressed.

This captivating and commendable work had me immersed from the beginning. The story flowed from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. There are plenty of attention-grabbing moments in this page turner that will take the reader on a compelling and gripping journey.

It’s one of those books that comes along occasionally that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I’m giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery and enjoyment for the reader. I will say, however, that fans of the mystery, thriller and suspense genre will love having a nibble on this one!

If this book is anything to go by, I’ll certainly be looking forward to reading more from Uzi Eilam in the future. I would recommend this book and would love to see it adapted for the Silver Screen. Five stars from me.

Will IOT technology & the countless very intelligent individuals be able to stop any cyber-attacks?

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written International tech thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great International tech thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Singapore Under Attack is an intense tale of mystery and suspense. It is a fast paced, action filled thriller full of interesting twists and turns that keeps the reader hooked to the book till the end. The book picks up quickly and the very first page is enough to intrigue the reader.

The story deals with a very interesting topic of cyber terrorism which is one of the nuisances of the modern era. The author Uzi Eilam has done a commendable job in researching the things. The outcome is a well-researched, tightly knit story with loads of information, woven intelligently throughout the story. The book is a thought provoking fiction that offers thrill, suspense, action, information, and in depth view of human behavior. The story seems real and characters; relatable.

The language is crisp and free flowing that succeeds in captivating the reader’s attention.

The cover of the book is quite impressive and manages to grab the attention of readers with its looks and usage of color.

Overall, the book is a fun filled, action packed thriller that is recommended to all those readers who enjoy reading fast paced thriller. The book is factually grounded and the story will not only entertain but will also educate the readers. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Cyberwarfare amongst allies and enemies

This is a slow paced military thriller with little detailed action, if action is what you are looking for look elsewhere. This book deals with cyberwar tactics both offensive and defensive. Singapore along with help from the United States and Israel are trying to stop terrorist attacks both conventional and cyber related coming from nearby Malaysia who is getting help from the middle east and China. Most of what is in the book seems to deal with meeting after meeting on what should be done on one side or the other, and report after report. There is mention of interrogation but not in detail at all so it is up to you to draw your own conclusions. Overall not for me but some who like technical talk may find it a good read.

If you have any knowledge in programming or security - don't read it.
This book could win the "Who can use the word 'cyber' the most" competition. On the first chapter you can find a paragraph that the work "cyber" appears at least 6 times.

It could be a nice book but I really didn't care for it.

A cyberwar between the terrorists and the intelligence. The precise wordings and fast pace keep the twists and turns throughout the story more alive. I kept guessing what will happen next. Though I'm not really into cyberworld, this book is quite an enjoyable read.

If you're into cyberworld, this story is for you.

I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

WOW! A story of the future?

Technology is a mysterious world! I feel like I’ve just finished a science-fiction story but I suspect there is far more reality than I am able to wrap my head around. My conclusion is the world my grand-kids will live in will be far more complex than we “old guys” can imagine.
