Too bad that’s an attitude the ancient horrors threatening the world don’t particularly appreciate. Now he’s got a step up and face his destiny, or let the Earth become a living Hell along with his social GODDAMNED FREAKY MONSTERS(Book 5)Three months have passed since Bill Ryder disappeared. Now he’s back. Too bad, civilization is teetering on the brink of chaos. Mythical beasts, once thought the stuff of fantasy, are breaking through the veil to wage war against mankind. At their forefront stands an unstoppable warrior from a long-dead cult, and he’s about to cut a swath of destruction through the world not seen since biblical times. Bill’s only chance is to muster every bit of attitude he can – because if he fails, Hell on Earth will become far more than just a corny saying.HALF A PRAYER(Book 6)An unstoppable terror from the dawn of time has awoken deep beneath the Earth and it’s headed Bill’s way. To make matters worse, he’s been deemed a traitor by the vampire nation. Now he finds himself fighting off enemies from all sides while warring with his feelings for the women in his life. Talk about a lousy time for introspection. As the world crumbles around him, Bill must rise to the destiny he’s been trying to deny – because if he doesn’t, his love life will be the least of his worries.THE WICKED DEAD(Book 7)Bill Ryder has a powerful destiny. He just never expected it to involve an amnesiac bloodsucker, a group of D&D dorks, and a hormonal witch. If he stands tall and faces his fate, the world might just have a chance of surviving. If he fails, an unquenchable evil will destroy everything Bill knows and loves. Why can’t the end of the world ever be easy?THE LAST COVEN(Book 8)A goddess returned, a war between primal powers, and a prophecy fulfilled. Rick Gualtieri loves to write adventure, mayhem, and snarky dialogue. His bestselling Tome of Bill series combines all of this into a world of supernatural danger with hard-hitting action and plenty of sharp-tongued geeky humor.
Rick lives alone in a dark, evil place called New Jersey with only his wife, three kids, and countless pets to both keep him company and constantly plot against him. When he's not busy monkey-clicking out words, he can typically be found jealously guarding his collection of vintage Transformers from all who would seek to defile them.
Really loved the first four and was excited to read the last (?) four. They were good but not as good as the first group only because they were repetitive, Bill being beaten over and over again and the word “albeit” being used what seemed like a hundred times. Still liked the story and was happy with the wrap up. Of course I and I’m sure others would love to see more of this series. I’ll miss Bill and Sally’s quips, Tom’s stupidly and Ed’s bro code. What say you Rick?
I am genuinely sad that I'm finished reading this fantastic series. It enthralled me from the first chapter of the first book. The perfect balance of humor and action, with copious amounts of fantasy in between. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys well written fiction with a twist of snark.
While I found the first half of this series (books 1-4) a hilarious romp through horror comedy, the back half of the series shows the authors over reliance on the same action beat. By the seventh book of the Tome I couldn't wait to be done and the finish was somehow both dissatisfying in its execution and pleasurable in being released from a once pleasant, but now broken relationship.
This book was one of the few books I have lost sleep over. I could NOT put it down! Funny and wonderful storyline. I would definitely read other books by this author. I will be looking for more.
Excellent conclusion to the first for books. I enjoyed every minute of reading about the freewill and icon and seeing it play out. Read this for a fun time about vampires and other bumps on the night
Loved the characters. The story line kept me interested. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Always full of surprises. Hope Bill's story continues. Along with Sheila, Shelley and of course Gan.
Well thought out, snarky and fun look at the (possible) end of the world as we know it. Great characters that you really like, almost makes me want to be a vampire!
This is like no other urban fantasy tale that you have ever read. Yes it has vampires, mages, sasquatch and other Boogeymen, but this is definitely a series that is one of a kind. Definitely a favorite read
There were several twists and surprises in this book. I enjoyed the characters was was surprised by the end. It’s a funny ride and has some decent action even if you wish bill would fight instead of just monologue in his head sometimes.
