The Boston Brahmin #7

Patriot's Farewell

Rate this book
In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way. ~ FDR

Critically acclaimed thriller author, Bobby Akart, returns to the Boston Brahmin series with page-turning action and timely political intrigue seemingly ripped from today’s current events in PATRIOT’S FAREWELL, a Boston Brahmin political thriller.

After a devastating cyber attack brought America to its knees, a reluctant hero emerged. A humble professor whose lineage dated back to the American Revolution.

Responding to the battle cry, CHOOSE FREEDOM, patriotic Americans rallied around their new president, Henry Winthrop Sargent IV - Sarge to his friends. As his administration worked to rebuild the nation, Sarge called upon his closest friends, the Loyal Nine, to use their skills and resources to assist him.

The nation, except for four states which seceded after the collapse, stood behind Sarge and his administration during his first term which focused on rebuilding the country. But as his second term in office comes to an end, the nation is still divided and the drumbeats of war can be heard from the other side of the world.

The Boston Brahmin, a shadowy group of wealthy and politically connected financiers whose roots date back to the Sons of Liberty, still look to Sarge as their leader, but storm clouds are brewing and Sarge will find himself in the crosshairs of a power struggle.

Can Sarge bring a divided nation together before he leaves office? Can a rebuilding military face off against a major superpower? Will Sarge survive a betrayal from within The Boston Brahmin?

Filled with non-stop action and political intrigue, Bobby Akart’s return to the Boston Brahmin series with PATRIOT’S FAREWELL promises a fast-paced thrill ride which will leave you burning through the pages.

Author's Note: Patriot's Farewell does not contain strong language. It is intended to entertain and inform audiences of all ages, including teen and young adults.

The last few weeks of Sarge's from of President of the U.S.

President-elect Rawlins was bought and paid for by the Boston Brahmin - influence, both cash and in kind. Sarge thought a vote on the Pacific Statehood Act should be voted upon at a Constitution Convention. Finalizing a 1.5 billion arms deal with Taiwan. Donald and Sarge were monitoring the vote for the PSA. IT WAS EXPECTED TO BE REALLY CLOSE SO they called Annie back from TH having Thanksgiving with Crew's famly. Drew is trying to decide what he'll do after Sarge and Annie leave the Presidency. There is revolting in Taiwan. Ambassador McBride in Taiwan meeting with Chineze. Sarge, Brad and Malcolm have concerns about the safety of the Ambassador. Sarge sends reinforcements to the area. Two Aircraft Carriers and Destroyers. Ambassador is captured by Chinese. Gardner Lowell flys to DC to put pressure on certain congressmen to vote "yea" on Statehood vote. Gardner wants to be President. Felt slighted when Morgan made Sarge in control of the Boston Braheim. The "AIGIS team" we're sent to Taiwan to find the Ambassador. (Drew, Spidey, Santa, King). Six white vans where seen leaving the house that he was taken too. Drew sends his team after each of the vans. They don't have the Ambassador. Rachel AT gives Sarge opinion on Veto options. Sarge is happy with his choices. AT days of Congress is not in session during the 10-day waiting period and the President does not sign the bill then it doesn't become law. The legislature has is adjourned for Thanksgiving. Drew heads his group back to the consul to figure out what they now do. They only have six hits and then it is expected that the Chinese will start their military to invade Taiwan. Drew is pacing trying to decide what to do when he finds a gate open in the back of the compound. They review the camera footage and find the Ambassador being taken out that gate. They now know where the Ambassador might be. Sarge send two nuclear subs to the Straights of Taiwan to keep the Chinese from starting a war. Read the book to see what happens both with Taiwan and the Congress and what he has in mind to do for his last two weeks in the White House. Good book!

OMG! I've missed Sarge and Julia! A crisis looms as lame duck President Henry Winthrop Sargent prepares for civilian life.

With 8 weeks left until his term expires, President Sargent is pushing Congress to vote no on the bill to bring California, Oregon and Washington back into the USA - on their conditions, meeting their demands. Assured by his contacts in Congress and the Senate that the Pacific Statehood Act would not pass.

As the votes are being called in the House, on the other side of the world, anti-American protesters surrounded the compound that served as an embassy in Taiwan. The crowd also includes some Chinese agitators. Growing unrest threatens to overwhelm the defense of the American compound.

Sarge is facing threats from domestic sources and from the Chinese play to invade Taiwan, while North Korea sees an opportunity to threaten attacks against US interests.

Not enough? Okay, Sarge also has trouble brewing with the Boston Brahmin. Enough? Not by a long shot! The action and intrigue is highly reminiscent of Tom Clancy with the same depth of research a realism elevating the action to a higher level. A thorough knowledge of the process of government and the current actors in office, sprinkled with a touch combat sequences so vividly described and colorfully outlined that I keep reminding myself to breath!

It was great to be back with the Boston Brahmins again, to feel vicarious inclusion with the decision makers, the powers that be, those truly worthy of envy. The story was truly well told and the characters were terrific, endearing, comfortable like an old pair of worn loafers, well broken in and familiar.

I would love to see this book be the first of a new series, or a new trilogy of Boston Brahmins. Now I'm going to read the series again from the beginning. Patriot's Farewell is a good beginning, now I want to taste all those old flavors just hinted at in Patriot. I want to taste the whole meal again, all 6 courses. I just have this feeling that you will too!

Critical, Fundamental Patriotism

Reading the seven books in this series in 2022, facilitated a strange dichotomy between real world events and fiction. I read for relaxation and at times this story was like a continuation of the nightly news. Fascinating in its relevance to real world situations, and just a little creepy in it’s depiction of potential risks to our nations sovereignty.

Choose Freedom became the battle cry throughout the series and the characters resolutely sacrificed and remained faithful to this most patriotic principal. I find myself hoping and praying there are still enough true patriots in this country to protect and preserve our Constitution and the Bill of Rights that have provided us the guiding principals to become and remain a world leader among nations.

The historical references to our founding fathers’ work to form our nation are enlightening critical components of knowledge not taught well in our modern education system. Akart masterfully weaves our history throughout the story to emphasize the foundation of proven principals on which future generations can stand firmly in their quest to defend the freedom that is so precious to Americans.

My only criticism is the often repeated description throughout the story of who each character was, in relation to the Boston Brahmin, and whom they descended from. It was excessive and distracting from the story being told. While it might work for those who do not read the full volume set straight through, that is the purpose of the character descriptions that precede each volume. I would recommend editing these passages out of future releases, and hope that this series stands the test of time, thus warranting the effort to do so.

The seventh book in this fantastic series is absolutely phenomenal! Though this is a standalone book, I highly recommend the first six books be read to understand the background story leading up to this one and because they are all amazing. The characters are well written, realistic and believable.
As Sarge is coming to the end of his term as President of the United States, so much is happening behind the scenes that every day Americans have no idea about. Not only is their double dealing within the government but also could a war be brewing? The President and his trusted cabinet work over time to try and quell a disastrous conflict overseas to thwart off a war with China. Will it be a good outcome? Will this last Thanksgiving Day celebrated in the White House before the president-elect takes over office end on a happy note? One can only hope.
Once again Bobby Akart has pulled out all the stops. Not one to be afraid to write what he feels and who I think has a magic crystal ball to see into the future, he has once again given us a glimpse of what could happen and I for one am a now a fan of his writing. Though I normally do not read political stories, this one has intrigued me from book one and I was so happy when I learned that he was writing a seventh book to bring us up to date with all of the wonderful characters that I have come to love. Yes…love because you can’t help but feel as though they have become friends after spending so much time with them all. This is highly recommended by me to friends and family who have taken my advice and have read them too. So please do yourself a favor and add them to your “to read” list. I promise you will not be sorry you did.

If you thought you needed closure at the end of the Boston Brahmin series, this is it! Or is it? If you didn't realize you needed closure, you will get it anyway. Or will you? It is 2024 and Sarge is ending his final couple months as The Prez. The Boston Brahmin are pretty much all together except they have a new member, Gardner Lowell. The Loyal Nine are also together and they would make lousy pencil pushers. Thankfully, an Ambassador is kidnapped and they need to go rescue him in order to avoid war with China. Hawaii, California, Oregon and Washington are no longer part of the Union and an important bill is going through the House to get them back. These states want concessions that would be detrimental to other states. Not all bad guys wear black. There is nothing lame duck about this president. There is plenty of action without and within to keep you reading. Also included, at no extra charge, is a fantastic tour of the White House in photos and floor plans. For anyone that did not read the Boston Brahmin series because the books contained some profanity, they have all been redone to remove it, and this book is suitable for young adults on up as well. Also, be prepared for some pretty cool history facts.

Farewell Patriot

Farewell is one of those old American/ old English words like Godspeed. A mini prayer and benediction, a blessing. In this book, the American people had a blessing in a President who was a true patriot. As Thomas Jefferson said, " To restore harmony, to render us again one people acting as one nation should be the object of every man really a patriot. " However, in these present days, as I block out real life happenings, false news and political and journalistic bullying has soured me, and many other Americans as well, so, reading this incredibly well written book deep into the night when I can't stop worrying about our once great nation, provides me with hope once more. Who would have thought the story and politics of one short Thanksgiving week in the life of a lame duck President could be so exciting and moving. This is a book made better after reading the proceeding 6 books in the Boston Brahmin series, but it is also one that can stand alone, especially after reading the summaries provided. Mr. Akart has once again exceeded my expectations.

Great read

I truly enjoyed the entire series and truly agree the the U.S. needs to reevaluate our Morales and society. We need to reficus.
On another nite, I think it is important that we all remember that while Boston was important to the founding of our country, it was not alone nor without others. The Pilgrims were not first in The new world. My family came with Sir Walter Raleigh 's second ship to Roanoke in the 1590's about 20 years prior to the Mayflower. Also there were 12 other colonies with patriots who lived and died for freedom.
While Boston and the Brahmin are important they are not alone nor the only ones who contributed. It must be with a sense omnipotence and omniscience to have profited greatly on the backs of 'the little man' while watching from the shadows safe and in control. Many do the work, while a few profit greatly.
Again, great books just don't forget that a few did not win our independence alone.

Book 7 or separate novel?

I have read several of Bobby Akart's series, and it seems that each one is better than the last! The only question I have is do I rate each book as I finish it or wait until I reach the end of the series. I consider each series as one book because the story continues. This book is listed as a separate book, but I consider it a continuation of the Boston Brahmin series. A lot of the war "game" details and politics go over my head, as well as the technical details, but that didn't deter from my enjoyment of the overall story. Yes, it's all a "what if" scenario, but the way the nation and the world is turning, who really knows? Makes you think!

More Political than apocalyptic

I thought the other books in this series were political... this one was pretty much all politics. Everything about China and Taiwan I found myself skipping over just to get to the rest of the story which was at least half the book. I’m glad to have an ending to the storyline of the series but I just didn’t enjoy this book much. If you enjoy politics more than apocalyptic stories you might enjoy this series. If not I wouldn’t recommend it for you.

Interesting

A government of the people, by the people and for the people never existed. A government of the rich and powerful, by the rich and powerful and for the rich and powerful shall never perish. This has been an interesting series emphasizing how our illustrious leaders are for sale to the highest bidder or blackmailer. John Morgan and his cohorts should have been tried and hanged for the atrocities committed on the America citizens but they walk free because they own the government.

This series is an eye opener.

Choose Freedom!

I am impressed. There was a LOT of research done in this book.

Great, NO fantastic ending to the series we all loved. When I heard Bobby was coming out with the book I reread all in this series. I was ready. It came out and I am having to change my review, because I didn't hit send! I am a horrible 'fan girl of Bobby Akart's books.

Excellent read. I hope all of you enjoy it as much as I if that is even possible.

A BA. SYFY. Novel About the Boston Brahmin Series/Reunification

BA. has. penned a SYF Y about the Boston Brahim Series(7) and the reunification of a nation after a deliberate man made disaster. The new President works very hard to accomplish returning the US to greatness but there are always factions that interfere in a good thing. There are more things accomplished than not. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

The Series is over

Thoroughly enjoyed this series but ends with a whimper not a bang. Far more talking and less action in this one compared to the rest of the series but it os far too short. Is it necessary to
As it out with several chapters of a new book plus extended excerpts from the rest of the books in this series. A waste for those of us who have read them. I do hope some of my favourite characters return.

A Great Read

I thought I had read all of your books until I came across this series a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed it but not quite as much as all the others. I greatly admire the detailed factual information you include in your books and find myself constantly googling to see if something is real or fictional. This series had a little too much history, however still a great story!

Each book his best!

If only there were someone like Sarge in charge the world would be a better place. Freedom which is quickly losing ground to cancel culture needs all of us to hang on. Maybe not in grandiose ways like the Brahmin but by voting and standing firm regardless of the consequences. Keeping our faith in God, loving our fellow man, even when we disagree with him. Awesome book!

Politics is a messy business as friends will betray friends all for the almighty dollar. People worshiping power use blackmail all to stoke their egos making people who feel like they've been slighted end up causing more trouble and discord just for their own satisfaction and perceived glory. They just better make sure that they know who they're dealing with or it could end up biting them in the butt.

This book is awesome. Sarge is more intense and the political intrigue will keep you hooked. This one can be read as a stand alone. I do recommend you read the others in the Boston Brahmin series first, as they explain more of the background and events preceding this one. This is one series that should be on everyone's TBR list.

Brahmin series

Now I have read the series twice because it reflects a lifelike scenario that all readers could dive in to. The world doesn't start and stop by itself, there are powers behind the scene that manipulate the world in ways that we know nothing about. This is Mr Akart s way of drawing you into the manipulations of the series. It's a great series. Read it now.

The book was pretty good but I found the ending pretty abrupt and not very satisfying.

My problem with the book is that the author infused too much of his own personal politics and views on religion into the story. It could have been generalized and fictionalized and not been so personally offensive. I’ve read most of Akart’s novels, but sadly this may be the last.

Intriguing

Sadly, all good things come to an end.
With great sorrow, I read the last word in this fantastic, thought provoking series.
I will greatly miss the many people who've lives I shared in this series.
Hats off to this fantastic wordsmith.
Thank you for this great storyline.

This series could have ended after book 6 and been quite satisfying. I didn't enjoy this one. I read it fast just to see what might happen with the characters. I felt there was too much speech making, political commentary, and sermonizing in this one and not enough action. This series was an early one for Akart and I know that his other series were better about this.

Survival thriller

I enjoyed this final book in the Brahmin series which gives us a look at the final months of the Sargent presidency. A foreign crisis and a domestic crisis have arisen and Sarge and Donald are in a fight to achieve their goals. Sarge is also being challenged by someone in the Executive Committee of the Boston Brahmin.

The bill for the Pacific states rejoining America is underway. But with it those six states want their state's laws to become federal laws -- very much against constitutional law. You can understand why Sarge is having a conniption fit. But wait until he learns who is spearheading this becoming passed in the House and Senate.

I thought that this series would be good, but it turned out to be great. Enjoyed all 6 of the books from pre collapse to rebuild. Was a great read for me. Would be a good read for readers of apocalyptic survival books.
