Sean Wyatt #14

The Fourth Prophecy

Rate this book
Washington is at a standstill.
It’s not political gridlock that’s paralyzed the capital of the United States this time.
A ruthless killer is assassinating members of Congress, leaving authorities with neither clues nor hope to stop the slaughter. Fear grips the city as the federal government grinds to a halt.
So, where are former government agent Sean Wyatt and his sidekick, Tommy Schultz? They’re thousands of miles away in the middle of the Mexican rain forest, leading a private mission for one of the congresswomen targeted by the murderer.
The congresswoman is convinced ancient documents in her possession hold the keys to a new world—a golden age without murder, scandal, or lust for power.
Sean and Tommy should be so lucky.
In their quest to solve another ancient, deadly series of riddles, Sean and Tommy take on Mexican drug cartels, counterrevolutionary guerrillas, and shady mercenaries—and learn that, yet again, nothing in either the modern or the ancient world is what it appears to be.
In his grittiest thriller yet, Ernest Dempsey again thrusts readers into the heart of the global criminal underworld. Swarmed by spies, shysters, and professional slayers, Dempsey’s vision of international treasure hunting would send even Indiana Jones running for retirement.

I received an advance copy from the author, for my honest review and I purchased it from amazon.com.

Like both of the characters, Sean Wyatt and his childhood friend Tommy Schultze of International Archaeological Agency, the danger they get into and all the last minute life saving rescues.

In 'The Fourth Prophecy', the dynamic duo make Uncle Si, proud by helping out a rogue Congress women find a power source, by hunting for a Mayan temple in Mexico. Brave the Drug Cartels and Guerrillas in the jungle.

Dempsey has an intertwining storyline, one that could be right out of today's headlines when Three members of Congress, get killed.

The various police agencies, even Axis who the president has lead the investigation have no leads, zero evidence and it's only after the IAA gets broken into that they have a suspect in the shootings.

When the fourth member gets shoot with a non life treating wound. Threw being gumshoes, paying attention to how the they voted they, figure out who the mastermind is and predictable it ends up involving the dynamic duo.

Liked that Emily Stark who lead the Axis Agency, played a bigger role in this one, verse just Sean asking a favor from his old boss.

To use a baseball analogy. It's like Dempsey a fastball pitcher, his last few books in the Sean Wyatt series were pretty similar and with 'The Fourth Prophecy' he throw's a change up.

It just would be a Dempsey book, if neither Sean or Tommy, didn't find themselves in trouble close to death and at the last possible minute, they end up getting rescued verse being killed off character wise.

Definitely give Ernest Dempsey a try, he writes a captivating story and he might just end up being your new favorite author.

The Fourth Prophecy - a review by Rosemary Kenny

What on Earth is going on? - you might well ask! Congress in is lockdown and this time it's nothing to do with Donald Trump's shenanigans over funding his Mexican Border Wall! Instead President Dawkins has issued the edict to protect his Congressmen and women, after two are mysteriously assassinated and a third wounded during an attempted kidnap/killing plot.
When there seems no answer to the above question and politicians' safety cannot be guaranteed, no other course seems viable - until Director Emily Starks of the President's secret task force Axis calls in Sean Wyatt, that is!
How are victim no 3 - a cancer-hit widow, with a husband and son, (both dead within six months of each other), who actually called in Sean and sidekick Tommy Schultz to help her with another matter - and the assassin connected?
With more twists and turns than a Chubby Checker Dance-athon, the answer will be too long in the coming, as you race feverishly through The Fourth Prophecy, scarcely daring to breathe as danger lurks at every turn!!
Don't miss Ernest Dempsey's 5-star winner - grab your copy today!

Review: THE FOURTH PROPHECY by Ernest Dempsey (Sean Wyatt Adventure Book 14)

In this 14th Adventure, Sean Wyatt and lifelong buddy/adventure Tommy Schultze of International Archaeological Agency in Atlanta are, as always, on the knife edge of danger, and I reiterate DANGER.
These guys never stop, never get sidetracked till the goal is solved and the artifact acquired. This time they reluctantly agree to a quest organized by a Congresswoman, who believes a lost temple in the Yucatan will eventually provide global energy. Sound farfetched? Wait till you read on and discover the real meaning of the temple, and see Tommy and Sean literal inches from death. Meanwhile, every moment is a new breathtaking adventure [read dangerous] but the guys still manage to be humorous.

Another brilliant Sean Wyatt thriller from Mr.Dempsey. This one has two parallel plots that come together at the end, and it really is a very ingenious story line. As usual there are some superbly written action passages to bring the story to life, and also some great irreverent banter by Sean and his colleague Tommy which lightens the mix.
One of the aspects of this author's writing is his description of locations, and once again he doesn't disappoint in this book, in particular the descriptions of the Mexican jungle are incredibly evocative.
Finally although not technically part of the story, I find the notes at the end of the book incredibly fascinating, giving background to the story and explaining what is taken from fact and what is pure fiction, make sure you read them.
I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author, but this honest review is voluntarily written and based purely on my own opinions.

I received a free advance e-copy of this book and have chosen to write an honest and unbiased review. I have no personal affiliation with the author. Another page-turner from one of my favorite authors. People are being murdered back home while Sean and Tommy are in Mexico hunting for a buried Mayan temple and the secrets that it holds. The action never quits. A congresswoman seeks immortality and revenge. There is betrayal, political intrigue, murder, danger, and twists and turns. Sean and Tommy can’t stay out of trouble. Ernest Dempsey is a colorful and descriptive author and a great storyteller. I love the verbal almost comedic interaction between Tommy and Sean. Another great piece of historical fiction that I found to be very entertaining and well worth the read. I look forward to reading more from Ernest Dempsey in the future.

My, My, Mayan

This 14th book in the Sean Wyatt series finds our dynamic duo of Sean and his archeologist best friend Tommy on a private mission in the rainforest of the Yucatán peninsula. Their client, a US congresswoman, has sent them in search of an ancient power that can change the world. While they are being beset by drug cartel members, revolutionary guerrillas and local tribesmen Intent in protecting their prize, things are heating up in Washington, DC. A serial killer is targeting members of Congress whose only connection is an energy bill. And their client is on that hit list.

As the action swings between Mexico and the US, the two plots link up in a series of twists and chance encounters with new and old “friends” from Sean’s past. Add in the snarky dialogue the reader has come to expect from these two buddies and you have an entertaining read to while away a lazy weekend.

Good, but not the best

I'm sure that when you have countless stories rolling around in your head, as I am sure Mr. Dempsey has, once in a rare occasion, one comes out a little less than the exciting stuff we are used to from Sean and Tommy. This was a fun read, but it won't rank real high in the list of the Sean Wyatt novels. And that's okay with me. I still enjoyed it. I still found myself tensing my gut several times when Tommy and Sean were in a tight spot. But overall, a lot of the other books in the series have been better. And I am now only up to #14; my progress is slow on purpose because I don't want to blow through all the stories in a few weeks. So I pause between books to read other stuff and let my desire to read an exciting action/adventure story build.

This latest Sean Wyatt thriller takes Sean and Tommy to the Yucatan in search of a lost Mayan temple. Along with nonstop action, this story is built around two story lines filled with political intrigue and betrayal that ultimately intersect. This is without a doubt the best work from Ernest Dempsey yet. This is definitely a must read for Sean Wyatt fans, and a very good intro for readers new to Ernest Dempsey's to Sean Wyatt thrillers.
I received an advance reader copy of this book and voluntarily chose to write a review.

I received a free ARC from the author, with whom I have no personal affiliation (aside from the fact that I am a huge fan).
Once again Ernest Dempsey hits it out of the park. Sean and Tommy are searching for an ancient Mayan temple. Meanwhile in D.C. politicians are being assassinated right and left. Are the two connected? Maybe, maybe not. You have to read it to find out. You will not be disappointed.
I don't know how Ernest Dempsey comes up with the stories, but they are always entertaining, fast-paced thrill rides. Love 'em!!!

Becoming predictable

While I have loved this series, the books have a certain predictable arc that is disappointing. You don’t need to tell us about Sean and his friends in every book. I also think you need to change up the most intense parts. In every book one of Sean’s friends comes to the rescue at the last minute....too predictable.

I hope this helps. Keep the books coming!

An adventure that has everything and will keep you coming back for more.

A fun read. I love Dempsey 's adventure stories and as an Archaeologist I really like the settings even if the plots are a bit fantistical. He is a good story teller and does a great job of pacing the stories, making his books difficult to out down. I would recommend the Seam Watt series to anyone looking for adventure, history, humor and an interesting read.

Another wonderful adventure you can not put down by Ernest Dempsey.

Thank you so much again for a great book. The fourth prophecy is another wonderful book with adventure non stop. You can not put it down. I like the fact the language is clean ,a good adventure and humor. I also like the way you always tell at the end where things are or how you came up with them in the story. Thank you again.

A five star page turner

Earnest is causing me to loose sleep. I'm starting to form bags under my eyes from reading late night from not putting down is novels. The fourth Prophecy is no exception. His novels are compelling and believable. His writing doesn't digress in to poor prose, unnecessary four letter words or to demonstrate his understanding of human sexualization. As always just a great well written thriller.

Ernest Dempsey will keep you guessing on who is the "Bad Guy" almost to the very end of this book. Some of the historical backgrounds you read are facts and some are not but, it starts you thinking and doing some research on the subjects. That is what I like about Ernest Dempsey's Sean Wyatt adventures. I also enjoy the interaction between Sean and his friend Tommy, they are hilarious! Keep this series going Mr. Dempsey, because I think it is a winner.

Another blockbuster novel about this dynamic duo of archeologists and trouble seekers. This book brings them from the halls of congress to the jungles of Mexico in search of a temple as directed by a popular senator. There are many twists and turns of both deduction and being captured by drug cartels. It culminates at the temple which starts a new chapter in the life-threatening adventure .
Great read, don't miss it.

The Fourth Prophecy is a Great Sean Wyatt Adventure #14

This is my fourteenth Sean Wyatt book and the writing skills of Mr. Dempsey have steadily improved with each book.
He is now a Master storyteller in the Action Adventure Genre. The action scenes seem to jump off the pages and grab the reader. Can't wait till #15 comes out.

Fun exciting book to read.

I enjoyed this book, like I have most of this series. There was only one book that was kind of not as good, and that was quite a few ago. The story line was good, and it having it take place in different locations was good. Was there would have been more of a surprise in it but over all good book. I am rereading his first ones as well.

Another winner,

Sean Wyatt and Tommy Schultz are without “the girls” on this adventure. Again there is intrigue, danger, history and mayhem with the good guys surviving again in the end. The adventures are always new and exciting and the scenery and story line entrancing. Thoroughly enjoyed yet another one in this series and look forward to the next adventure!

Over too soon!!!!

I love the excitement of the finds and the adventure. It was like I was in the jungle with them. And suddenly Jack and Pablo were there to help out Sean and Tommy. Oh sigh! It is those twists and turns that keep me refilling my tea cup and coming back for more. Encore Mr Dempsey, Encore indeed.

Another winner

This is a good series. The characters are developed nicely. There’s lots of action and suspense. Usually a twist or two to go along with a good plot. There is a nice mixture of historical fact and fiction. The basic premise of the plot is always based on an obscure person or place. It comes together in a good read. Recommended.

Fun adventure

I am enjoying the Sean Wyatt adventures. Many parts of the stories do seem a bit repetitive. Like the author is repackaging the same story in a new location. The author seems to love fight scenes more than I do. However The books are fun to read so I will keep reading.

One of the Best!

I think I say that about each Sean Wyatt book. This is #14. I heard a phrase lately: "the flavor of the author". The "flavor" of Ernest Dempsey is his incredible talent for exciting stories. Each different but each interesting and unique. I look forward to reading #15-20.

outstanding as always

Wow! Even though I called the big bad from the beginning, I loved the whole story. This book was filled with everything you’d expect, action, adventure, danger, an a big crazy out to end the world. As alwaySean and Tommy have to stop it all and they do so in spectacular fashion. Excellent novel. It seems each one gets better and better.

Amazing imagination

This story is full of suspense and gives a little history lesson as well. Sean and Tommy always seem to find themselves in precarious positions. Glad to see that they yet again will be able to go on another mission. Hope I didn’t spoil for anyone. Fun and fast read.

More Raucous Mayhem and Saving The World

Three congressmen murdered, an attempt on a fourth. A trek into the jungle for a clean energy source. An amulet that grants eternal life. (I don't remember that one. Maybe I haven't read that book yet.)

Sean and Tommy are up to their usual, and save the world from destruction.

Karma reigns

Dempsey has done it again, making Sean the hero. The vividness of this story had me picturing the heat and humidity amongst the vines and dangers man faces in the quest for lives lived long ago. A real thriller! Thanks!

Thoroughly enjoyable adventure.

I really liked this book, partly because it reminded me of a favorite - James Rollins' Amazonia. This romp is not as creepy but the plot keeps one guessing and the repartee of the heroes keeps one amused as they face one peril after another.
