Craig is spontaneous, down-to-earth, and smoking hot. He’s also a distraction.
I believe in plans. I did my time coordinating tedious corporate events, but it was worth it: now I’m entrusted with the lavish Halloween Ball. I finally have the chance to really make a name for myself as a party planner. But my plan has a flaw: Craig.
I know nothing about Halloween parties, but Craig's an expert on all things spooky. When I hire him as my consultant, things get... Complicated. Nothing is allowed to stand in the way of my career, but Craig makes me laugh like no one ever has. I’m safe in his arms and hot to his touch.
But love isn’t in my five-year plan. And neither is the pressure I'm getting from my sleazy boss. If I reject him, I’ll lose my job, and along with it, my future. If Craig finds out what I’m going through, someone might end up getting hurt — and I could lose everything I never knew I needed.
Eye Candy is a hot 30,000 word M/M romance novel with a lot of comedy, a little bit of angst, no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA ending.
It wasn't awful, but between the incorrect grammar, odd phrases, and outright made-up words (I understand either "interact" or "overlap" but what the hell is "interlap" please!), this was a good design that suffers from poor construction. I recommend both a proof-reader and editor.
Great character development. The dissection of toxic masculinity was so cool to see because the author did it in a really fun but compelling way. I love how both characters ended up helping the other to stand up for themselves and be proud of themselves.
While there was dramatic tension throughout, there were plenty of comedic moments. The "sexy wiener man" costume scene had me laughing so much. What a cute dorky scene.
All the sexy scenes were really hot. It had the right touch of forbiddeness to it, while still being very sweet and romantic.
I love Halloween and it's really hard to find stories in the setting that are also gay. Was a really fun read and I can't wait for the author's next one :)
I have complicated feelings about this story, and I'm not sure I can put them into words at the moment. May do an actual review later. I advise reading the CWs in this case, as these elements are not minor in the plot but central to it. I want to try more books by this author.
