Sometimes hope is lost. Sometimes memories cannot be forgotten. Sometimes you must endure. Family was everything to Maria. Family meant protection, love and safety. Family was Maria’s shield against the harsh world but like all shields it has been shattered. Lost in a sea of anger and despair Maria has forsaken her family and gone out into the world alone. Now Marie must face the truth. She must accept that no matter how far she runs neither her past nor her family will be forgotten. She must accept that both will have to be faced.
I can’t help but smile when I read that someone was inspired by the voices in their head and how they just had to let them out. Yes I smile because once my husband read what the voices in my head were saying he started sleeping with one eye open and with one foot on the floor.
Maria is book 4 in one of the best Mafia series in the history of fiction! The series is incomparable!
Maria resumes beautifully where Nero, book 3 ended. This Mafia princess has experienced her fair share of pain and betrayal. She can't escape it although she manages to live a "new life" for a short time. Deep down inside Maria knows there is no escaping the life. Ever. Nero was promised Maria as his wife and he is determined to bring her back home kicking and screaming.....literally! He doesn't realize she has to pull the okey doke to gain freedom. But oh what a tangled web we weave when we aim to deceive....while willing to sacrifice her life for her loved one's freedom, the trick is really on her! Oh goodness what a major clusterf*ck! The Mafia is not soft or pretty. It is not romantic. Nero and Maria's journey from hell proves it!
This story is A1! Each installment is better than the last. The characters and scenes are flawless. The intricate inner workings of the Mafia family are portrayed realistically. The entire package, this story, is FLAWLESS!
I absolutely loved Maria. She is my most favourite character in this book, because she is very relatable. The writer kept saying in all books that Maria was spoiled or a brat, but from the books it was clear that she was a burden to her family. They tolerated her because they know they will get rid of her after her marriage. Her family always failed to protect.Actually she was sold as sex slave because her brother used her to remove the threat to his Wife. After that the way they treated her because they ashamed of her and his her from public was disgusting.Dominic cared about her,but after his marriage that also went to the dogs.I think they ever deserved her forgiveness after they forced her to marry a traitor despite knowing she isn't healed just to get rid of the shame. Only he loved Maria and protected her more than her family ever did.I loved how they helped each other heal and gave each other a beautiful future to look forward to.All thanks to Angelica. The series is about family but Maria's family didn't save her,He did.
This was a great book in the series. So many twists and turns. I just loved it. If you haven't started this series yet you need to, I started just a few days ago and I am just devouring these books. I can't put them down until I finish them because they are just that good. Highly recommended!!😀
Maria is the fourth book in this series by Angelique Jones. Usually I don't read books related to the Mafia and even contemporary books that often. Its always been the classics. However, the books in this series got me going that I have started to read contemporary as well. This series is not your typical romance, it talks a lot about what actually goes on in the crime world and how many members of that world can become victims. I was anticipating Maria and it did not dissapoint. Maria was broken several times, perhaps more than any character in the books, but she pulled herself out of it and survived. I read Maria in a few hours and could not put it down. I gave it five stars because I really like Nero and Maria's story and the struggles they have gone through. But at times I felt as if it was rushed, the interactions between Nero and Maria were described really quickly without that many words exchanged between them. Sometimes I felt if there were more scenes with them talking would have shown the chemistry in a better way. But no complains other than that,I was waiting for this one and it was a great read, really emphasized on how people can pull through any hardship and look beyond scars. It held me on the edge while many revelations were made while Maria's decision to save the one she loves backfired somehow and was incredibly unprecedented. Amazing suspense and as I said not the typical romance but just enough of it. So definitely 5 stars!
