Great local read!

Loved this introduction to Mike's work - he most certainly knows his stuff. I've now moved onto the sequel! Great to find out local history and Mike is our man!

I liked the idea the author had for this project, but it was poorly executed. A lot of the historical information was irrelevant to the paranormal research, and there was no need to input pages-long lists of names and dates that didn’t seem to add much of anything to the narrative or the author’s argument. The book clearly needed another round of editing (or two), as there were grammatical issues and many typos, which were distracting.the reports of paranormal activity should have been the main focus of the book, based on the beginning chapter, but a lot of them time these seemed to take a backseat to the general history of a location. I also found that at times the author used a condescending tone, which was really off-putting as a reader. Basically if he couldn’t find “written” proof then a claim was nonsense, but soooo many instances of human history were ignored or have been diluted over the years. This had a lot of potential, but read like an early draft of a thesis project.
