In His Corner was a total knockout! Oh, how I loved this book! The characters were great and the storyline was phenomenal! It was extremely well developed. This book had the perfect mix of drama and romance with boxing set as the background. The backstory on Princeton’s parents and his relationship with his dad really helped shape the man he became as well as the man he didn’t want to become. These characters were perfect for each other. Princeton was a complex boxer and Bella was the quirky journalist who was able to bring out a softer side he never allowed anyone else to see. Their chemistry was intense from the moment they met. Bella and Princeton are a couple you will absolutely fall in love with. In His Corner was sexy, funny, and heartwarming. I’ve read a few books by Alexandra Warren but this was, by far, my favorite.

Alexandra be in her baaagggggg with these sports romances!!! I meannnnn!!!!! She is the queen when it comes to this genre and once again she has written a couple that I absolutely LOVED!!!!🥰🥰🥰

Princeton is an undefeated boxing phenom and has been trained by his father every step of the way. They’ve always had a hostile relationship and for very good reason. His father was abusive in the name of tough love and as a result Princeton lived a pretty traumatic childhood.

Bella is a rising journalist! She’s looking to make a name for herself and the perfect way to do so is by snagging that one big article to get her name on the map. When her company assigns her to write a story on Princeton she had no idea that she would would be knocked out by Cupid 💘 and end up falling in love.

From the very beginning Princeton and Bella formed a solid friendship and that only bloomed into something deeper. That was the easiest and most natural for these two but the challenges they faced along the way proved to be a bit more difficult. Princeton struggled with knowing who was really in his corner and this bled over into his relationship at times! Bella was as solid as they came and I love how she rode for Princeton but also called him out on his ish when necessary! I loved everything about this story and I can’t believe I was sitting on this work of art for so long! Don’t be like me! Read this one ASAP!!

Now Bella almost ruined this story for me! (I’m being dramatic 🤭) At times throughout this love story, I feel like she is oblivious to the things around her or the people she engages with. Two prominent times were Chris and not realizing what their situation was, and with Princeton and not realizing whether she liked it or not she was a distraction. Bella was a little slow in those moments lol. But ya know I may be slow too if I work an interview and luck up on the finest boxer and he also wants me! lol, Princeton knew from the first interview Bella would turn his world upside down. Bella helped connect the dots to healing that Princeton didn’t see coming and oh the feeling of seeing a grown man heal and be loved properly. I enjoyed the angst build-up to the very last fight and biggest moment for both Bella and Princeton’s careers! Overall a sweet romance and a good audio listen as well! Wesleigh and Winston did that! I am going to do more back catalogue reads from Alexandra Warren because this was good and I know there is more where that came from!

Such A Good Story

Bella & Princeton had chemistry from the time the two of them first met for her to interview him. He made it clear that he intended to pursue her and to make her his. After a few bumps in the road, not only did they finally get together but there was some bonuses which also included healing and forgiveness. The Second read was the audiobook with Wesleigh & Winston on narration….I love this story.

Boxing leading to love

Sports romance is one of my favorite genres and this was a cute story!

Princeton was a boxer the height of his career, undefeated, confident, thick, and sexy. Life was decent until he met Bella, a journalist covering a story on him and realized she was the something more he didn't know he needed. Bella was beautiful as her name suggested..mocha skin, slim with just enough curves, with a quirky, sassy personality. Chemistry was immediate and they had a sweet little connection, she seemed to put him at ease while challenging him at the same time. She gave Prince the lady in the streets, freak in the sheets balance that he needed for his girl.

I enjoyed their growth, but I wanted Bella a little more in his corner. While she definitely felt he was the best to do it, I didn't like the negativity she gave off about his career even if it was out of concern. She wanted full support in her career and I felt like she could have matched his energy more. At times the dialogue gave YA vibes, they were young so it wasn't too far out of reach, I just wanted a little more in that area.

Overall a very cute sports romance that is worth the read.

This is my first book by this author and was a fantastic read.

I love sports romances and it's always great when the story is written so well that you can't help but fall in love with the romantic leads.

Princeton Lattimore is the Boxing Heavyweight Champion, and all he's ever known was boxing and unfortunately abuse by his trainer/father. He trains and that's about it, this is Prince's life with his trusted dog, Lucy.

Bella Stevenson is a budding journalist, she scores an interview with Princeton after one of his fights, bless Bella's heart but she doesn't know anything about boxing and thinks it a brutal sport but the man she is set to interview is nothing like what she witnessed in the ring, to Bella he is more of a gentle giant.

Princeton is thrown for a loop when he see's Bella at first, thinking one, she's a groupie until she flashes her press pass, two, she is there on business to interview him and three, she see's through him.

Bella thinks, let me interview him and get the heck out of dodge but is caught in the web of Prince's bold stare, clear answers to her questions, and looks like God personally handcrafted Prince Himself.

Prince and Bella go on a ride that neither one of them expected or realized they needed. I totally stan these two LOL!

Well Until My Next Review...Ciao!

i could be really corny and say this book was a knockout but i’ll spare y’all.

i listened to the audiobook and it probably one of my favorite reads this month. nobody writes sports romance quite like alexandra warren. it’s easy to tell she puts a lot of research into making sure she gets all the details right. every time prince got in that ring, i felt like i was right there with him.

i also love the details she poured into bella’s career. as someone with a journalism degree it was refreshing how realistic her journey was.

this book was everything. i loved reading bella and prince’s journey from being strangers, to lovers to forever partners. ahhh, i love this book so much!

Bella x Princeton

Somehow, Alexandra always without fail manages to create the most loveable characters. Princeton and Bella were perfect for one another and you can't help but love them, root and cheer them on. If you didn't know, she's the queen of sports romance.
Definitely recommend this one.

This was a good read. When Bella appeared to see Princeton as more than just a world-class boxer, I knew he was lost for her. Being journalist, Bella and Prince being a boxer provided a wonderful balance to each other. There was some drama, but I'm glad it all worked out in the end.

3-3.5 stars This ended up having a trope I really dislike (why does it keep happening?! 😩), but otherwise this would have been 4 stars.

Bella and Prince were so cute! This was another sexy, feel good romance. Princeton, A charming, sexy pro boxer meets Bella a smart, slick mouthed journalist and sparks fly. The Prince intends to have her and puts in the work to make her a believer. Their connection is fun and flirty but genuine.
Prince is irresistible but flawed and surrounded by drama. But he is also so sweet and has the ability to be humble and hold himself accountable.
This couple learns some hard lessons on their journey but ultimately they make each other better. Their love makes you feel good.

Loved this story! This was cute, steamy and a wonderful all around love story. Bella handled this man ok!! And Princeton handled her fiery personality right back! Lol I really enjoyed it. I also loved their commitment to family. Sometimes a story will have one of the characters on the fence because of certain trauma’s, but these two really brought this home.

Another hit!!

I have been an Alexandra Warren fan since first reading Getting the Edge and she has never let me down! This book is no exception! Princeton and Bella are so made for each other that it makes you feel warm inside. Their story shows how even a terrible childhood can still produce a loving, gentle soul who finds his soulmate to return that love. I wanted to hate Sir Kingfield, and did for most of the book, but he even redeemed himself in my eyes. Gina is the girlfriend every girl should have and I love the cameo mentions of some of our favorite characters, such as Bryson, Miles, Levi, G. Griffey and even a CCJ favorite couple from the Connecticut Kings. You feel like you know the characters and are pulled into the story from the first page. You will laugh out loud, get angry and yell, and even cry along the way.

This was ok

I felt like she got with him knowing what he did for a lifestyle, and at first she admired it but somewhere between then and the time they got together… She doesn’t want him to do it anymore? She hated it sm that she’d get attitudes when he had fights coming up? where that come from, Also I am big on connection and i js did not feel the connection between the two, or any passion, It felt as if he was forced to do everything she wanted. Also the angst is really stupid, the things she gets mad over is crazy, things he ain’t even say, now the not defending her part, that’s valid but everything is was out of proportion

A Knockout!

This book had all the makings of a great story! Fascinating characters, a well developed storyline and real layers of issues to work through! I had a special appreciation for Prince and all that he went through.

I haven’t read many books by this author, but I’m confident in saying this is her best piece of work to date.

The Champ

I have to say boxing hasn't been the same since Mike Tyson left the game! Princeton "Prince" Lattimore brings a different spin to the sport on these pages! Bella Stevenson is a talented writer on the edge of writing her best work. The combination of the two is off the charts!! This was just the best!!!!

Wonderful

When I say this was good, I meant fantastic. Oh how I loved it. The characters were great. Even the one I didn't like, he was still all good to me. I mean it was like I was watching it and that is when you know a book is good. Great, great read!!!

I honestly only finished this because it was my book club pick and I need to contribute to the convo 😭. It started off so strong with great chemistry between the characters & the MMC is so sweet but it had all of my least favorite tropes in one. The FMC was also very unreasonable

4/5 ⭐️

I have nothing good to say about Princetons dad so I will refrain from speaking on that lousy bastard. Idgaf about his so-called redemption arc 😭

I understood Bella not wanting to tell Princeton that she was pregnant because she wanted him to focus on his match but at the same time her weird behavior could’ve also caused him not to focus on his match.

Bella calling the dog Rosa Barks and Nicole Ari Barker had me cryingggg 😂😂😂

She definitely was being Hella dramatic when she THOUGHT she found out that Princeton felt like she trapped him. I honestly hate the “Miscommunication Trope” as a whole. Like this man was genuinely excited when she told him that she was pregnant, but because she heard his dad mention something about him being trapped she automatically assumed that’s how Princeton felt as well without even giving him a chance to explain to her that he was actually defending her position in his life the whole time.

Princeton was dead ass wrong for assuming that Bella would use his mother for a story. Bella should’ve slapped his ass. His mom seemed really sweet and while I don’t condone a mother abandoning their child, I guess her reasons were good enough.

I liked Tony for the most part but what I didn’t like was the fact that he was trying to convince Princeton to do the match when it would coincide with the birth of his daughter. Tbh I’m surprised Bella even agreed to it. But I’m glad my decided to retire on his on terms instead of being forced to retire because he got hurt or something.

This book started off really good and kept me reading until about the middle. The FMC was annoying me a bit and the story didn’t was starting to drag a bit towards the end. I did love MMC energy and his persistence after the FMC

This book was apart of my birthday book mail and my second read from this author. I felt so bad for Prince because his father treated him so bad throughout the book. His mother popping up towards the end of the book was crazy because her focus was on the grandchild and not really a relationship with him. I feel like Prince and Bella had a lot of up and downs in their relationship throughout this book. I did not like the fact that Bella pressured Prince to give up boxing even through that is how she originally met him. I did not mind the baby trope because things happened I just feel like I wanted them to get to know eachother more before the baby was in place. I like the fact that Bella did not back down talking to Prince father because he was really a trash parent. I was happy when Prince finally stood up for her when his father started to disrespect Bella in the book. This is my second book from his author and I will be reading more books by her.

2.5* I enjoyed the first half of this book until the author decided to invoke the whole “insta-love, unprotected sex on the first date and oops, we are pregnant two months into dating and happy about it” trope. I honestly hate that trope, so having that spanner thrown into the works dented my enjoyment of Princeton and Bella’s story. It was cute until it wasn’t. The second half of the book dragged as a result and i skimmed through the last couple of chapters. Just not my cup of tea.

Second time still just as great as the first time

Had to read this standalone again since I loved the story line so much. It's letting you see beyond the surface of the main characters to see what really makes them tick and what caused it. Great read

IN HIS CORNER - ALEXANDRA WARREN

“OLE SKOOL” WRITING REVIVED WITH A VENGEANCE!

That is just the feeling I derived upon reading this impressive ebook. Ms. Warren has restored my confidence in this romance genre. Her writing swelled my heart with memories of great writers the likes of which are Brenda Jackson, Francis Ray, Terri Woods, E. Lynn Harris, Eric Jerome Dickey and Traci Brown. Just plain ole put your foot in it great writing!

The storyline/plot was not only heart string pulling but was inundated with emotional pulls that kept your eyes riveted upon every written word. All of these emotions come together to make us, the readers feel privileged to have been a part of this reading experience. You will fall head over heels in love with Princeton, “The Prince”, Lattimore and Bella Stevenson, and feel very remorseful that their beautiful story had to end. But what an extraordinary love story it was.

As with all significant books, you have your characters you love to hate and/ or can do without. In this particular story that character is Kingfield Lattimore, Princeton’s father. The emotions he pulls are distress, supreme anger, disgust, angst, fear and uneasiness. But just as these emotions are a part of his character so are the positive and awe-inspiring one’s generated by his son. There is nothing superficial about The Prince! Upon every page his name appears you will experience joy, love, peace, pleasure, and humor. Everything in his character is filled with noteworthiness.

Those attributes relative to The Prince are tripled when they relate to adorable Bella - the woman of the hour. You will be treated to many “aww” moments when she sprouts her quirky comebacks during the numerous conversations she holds with Prince and other characters. Her captivating characteristics plus his endearing and honest characteristics come together to give us this stupendous read.

There are also very good supporting characters which lend their own brand of greatness to the story i.e., Tony, Denise and Gina, Little Tony and Brandin. This delightful storyline began with a bang and just kept on giving. The ending though! The ending puts forth the reasons we live to read romance novels. Combustion is not a good enough word to use about this book but it does give you an idea how hot, hot, hot this story is. This reader loved everything about it and am anxiously awaiting to taste the smorgasbord of other delightful books listed in the repertoire of this authors’ other works.

I cannot encourage you enough to add this magnificent read to your Rolodex of books to be read over and over again.

If there is ever a book bae and book boo to STAN for it is Princeton “The Prince” Lattimore and Bella Stevenson!!! They were everything.

First off, WesSLAY and Winston—did every bit of that! Secondly, I love a story that gives me the feels and can make me chuckle—the way I HOWLED at baby PJ doing warmups! *SCREAMING* Mostly, Alexandra, YOU WROTE THE H. E. DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS outta this book.

Princeton was the quiet storm and gentle giant rolled into one. It was refreshing that he didn’t play any games from the start to finish, and pressed up on Bella every time. Despite his inner turmoil and trauma, he was different and that’s hard for most to overcome. Kudos for addressing real life issues in a real way!

Bella was that chick. The way she stood her ground and demanded respect for her talent, career, and her heart made me root for her every single time! And the way she loved on Princeton and was THERE for him, come on black woman being the backbone for the black man. Appropriate title! But the key and what was most loved was in the end, it wasn’t just Bella providing the support and nourishment, Princeton proved how much he was in HER corner, too, and that is black love personified!!

Lacked Finesse

Although, I gave this book four stars, it's more like 3.5. I almost stopped reading it (several times) as I struggled through the first half feeling no real connection or draw to the characters or story. It was ironic how dragged out it was but character development was lacking. We never knew ages, weight class, Bella's issues with men and clearly there were some e.g. Chris treating her as a booty call and she readily accepting it. Bella's abrupt firing. Too many loose ends.

Then Prince, a celebrated boxer falling so quickly that he was talking babies during their first encounter with no thought of protection. Also, there was something resembling vulgarity with Gina and Bella's earlier conversations and behavior that turned me off. I also wasn't amused by Bella constantly referring to the dog as a "bit$!". After the third time, it was annoying. I am far from uptight but the writing could have been more finessed to help them (Bella and Gina) not come off as brash and thotish. Good story though and I especially appreciated the familial reconciliation.
