Funny and totally true childhood biographies and full-color illustrations tell the tales from the challenging yet defining growing-up years of great writers, artists, athletes, and presidents.
This is kindle freebie is a sampler or teaser for the books in the series. It is an excellent series. The biographies are accurate and kid friendly. It should be noted that the actual books tend to be more diverse than this sampler - which has a total of nine people, only two of which are female and only two poc.
It was a fun book to read and it is a type of book you could gift it to children as well. I loved the format in which it was written. It was simplistic yet interesting. The illustrations were beautiful and funny. It was quite enjoyable and a fast paced read. I would highly recommend it.
Kind of a teaser for their other books, this book has mini-biographies of people like Peyton Manning, Gabby Douglas, J.F.K., and Charles Shultz....
Quick stories about the problems faced by the famous when they were children that helped them get to where they are today. Relevant problems for kids to relate to and gain inspiration from.
I would like to read the other books now that I've read this teaser!
BTW...Peyton Manning - a tango dancer - YouTube it!
This was a cool look into the 4 books this author wrote about artists, authors, presidents and athletes. Some interesting background about each person they highlighted, and some encouragement for kids to keep trying despite any bullying or opposition.
My 8 year old son loves history and this was the perfect book to read him before bed each night. It had some great stories about historical figures as kids and was great.
Kid Legends: A simple, short and inspirational book containing impactful account of some famous persons in their childhood was the best thing I explored today. I was damn depressed and this book was really helpful in removing the gloomy blanket of mood swing off me. . The stories are told in a funny way by David Stabler and awesome cute illustrations by Doogie Horner has made the book a very interesting one. . It is really interesting to know the character of Harmione Granger is based on J K Rowling's self. She had to fend off bully, defy the low expectations of teachers and tried hard in school but throughout the time she was a storyteller. She penned her first story at the age of seven! . The creator of Snoopy, the superstar cartoonist Charlie Schulz was a shy kid who hated to show off his sketches! . Pablo Picasso always hated rules and took every opportunity to disobey them. He even started painting sky bright red just to entice the art teacher in school! . It was interesting to know how Muhammad Ali took a detour to a boxing school, which gifted us the greatest boxer of all time. . The creator of the best-selling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series was constantly pranked upon by his siblings; and he has used almost all of them in his books later.
This book will inspire children to address their fears and reaffirm their aspirations. It is divided into three parts. The first part explores difficulties overcome by J.K. Rowling, Peyton Manning, and Charles Schultz before they became successful. The second part discusses the struggles of Pablo Picasso, Muhammed Ali, and Ulysses Grant during childhood and how they overcame their handicaps to achieve fame. Part Three examines the role that family life played in the early lives of Jeff Kinney, John F. Kennedy, and Gabby Douglas. Before closing, the author and illustrator reveal facts about themselves.
The illustrations are rich and detail and humorous. They are fun to look at and read. This book is perfect for middle-grade readers who are dealing with the same type of issues, bullying, family and peer relationships, and self-esteem. The book also provides an opportunity for jump-starting group discussions.

Kid Legends tells the background story of many incredible people throughout history. This book in particular, is a sample of the other books in the series. It tells the childhood stories of people like J.K. Rowling, Gabby Douglas, Charles Schulz, Ulysses S. Grant, Jeff Kinney, Peyton Manning, Pablo Picasso, Muhammed Ali, and more.
I really enjoyed this sampler and I want to look into getting the other books in the series. I love that we get to get a look at these people's childhoods, which was where a lot of them truly got their start. Plus, there are illustrations!
I would recommend this to pretty much any age that can read it. It is probably best for about 3rd-5th grade. I plan on adopting it into my classroom library and possibly my curriculum in the future.
Kid Legends tells the background story of many incredible people throughout history. This book in particular, is just a sampler of the four other books in the series. It tells the childhood stories of people like J.K. Rowling, Gabby Douglas, Charles Schulz, Ulysses S. Grant, Jeff Kinney, Peyton Manning, Pablo Picasso, Muhammed Ali, and more. I would be interested the other books in the series. I loved that we get to get a look at these people's childhoods, how they started in their young lives.
A book I read with several of my ESL students, it is quite simple, but you learn to see the vocabulary in context and at the same time learn from real life people, we can see the person already after fame, but it was interesting to see their childhood and hard things that many of them went through. This book is like a collection with several of the characters that appear categorized in other of this series’ books. We really liked the illustrations and the way it’s written. Recommended 🙌🏼
This book is great 👍 .It contains all the backstory of the famous people we know now and how they were just like any normal person . You can relate to a few childhood moments or memories similar to them as well.If you are wondering how they became famous and also when ,where ,why and how this is the book you would love to read.❤❤📘👍👍.
I love the books in this series and this is a great little compilation to give new readers to the series an insight in to the books - they are packed with packs and fun details and I love the quirky little images too. This one was great and definitely one I am going to be recommending - 5 stars from me - I hope this encourages readers to checkout the full books!
Amazing book by the author it takes you to the world well known personalities. By reading this book you will know the real struggle behind the success of famous personalities like JK Rowling, Picasso, Mohammad Ali and many more. And most important don't judge it by name , it is not only for kids everyone can read this book
This book is full of amazing story's and how magnificent people achieved what they did. This inspirational book really inspired me. It makes you think that anyone can do anything
Mini-biographies of famous people. Its simple and easy to understand especially for kids— telling them that these famous people are also kids before and they experienced the things you have experienced... the illustrations are cool as well!
Honestly, I was rather disappointed by this book. I didn't find it very inspiring, the stories were rather trite. It is aimed at a younger audience but I've read much better biographical information with my kids that they've enjoyed more.
Good synopsis of achievements of successful people through adversities. A source of encouragement for kids to make believe all great people start with struggles.
This is a unique perspective into the lives of well known people. I imagine it would spark more interest from younger readers into history and reading.
