Willy Corsari was the pen name of Wilhelmina Angela Douwes-Schmidt. Although not her first novel published, Nummers was the first novel she wrote. Corsari was a well-known author of novels and detective stories, each equally successful, as well as plays and radio plays. A lot of her work was translated, for instance into English, French, German, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Czech, Hungarian, Italian and Hebrew. She died in Amstelveen, The Netherlands.
