A race of shapeshifters who are driven by a searing hunger for sexual passion, the Chanku also thrive on love and a deep devotion to their kind, and they have always relied on their intensely protective nature to keep their packs safe—until now. Two of their own, Tala and Lisa, have been kidnapped and are being used as leverage in a twisted plot to assassinate the president. All but powerless to stop the malevolent men behind it, their mates fear for the women’s lives and question their own role in the hostile situation.
Unwilling to concede to the kidnappers’ demands, they turn to their alpha pack leader, Anton, for help. Devising a daring rescue plan to save the women and also protect the president, Anton calls upon all Chanku to lose themselves in an erotic encounter of unimaginable proportions. Drawing on their sexual energy will endow him with a superhuman ability to outmatch even their strongest enemies.
But Anton’s plan entails consequences even he could not foresee and requires a sacrifice he never intended. And as he opens himself to the overwhelming sensual power of his people, he’ll face a life-threatening crisis that also endangers the lives of those he’s vowed to protect . . .
Some people just seem to know they are meant to write, but it can still take a while to figure out exactly what their career will entail. Kate Douglas started out writing radio copy for a country western radio station in 1972, wrote and illustrated an educational cartoon strip for the American Mosquito Control Association for a number of years, was a newspaper reporter for a small town weekly where she covered everything from high school sports to drug busts, and then, in the mid-1980s, decided to write her first romance.
Many submissions and rejections followed.
In 1998, she sold to a small ebook publisher before anyone knew what an ebook was, but it wasn't until 2005, a full twenty years after finishing that first romance, that she signed with a New York publisher.
In January 2006, Kensington Publishing launched their Aphrodisia imprint of erotic romance with Kate's Wolf Tales, a sexy paranormal series about a lost race of shapeshifters. She went on to write 21 novels and novellas in that series, then wrote three other series for Kensington before moving to St. Martin's Press.
She has two series with SMP--The Intimate Relations series complete with three novels and one novella of romantic suspense set in California's wine country, and an erotic paranormal series, Feral Passions, set in California's Trinity Alps.
She is also continuing her Spirit Wild series, the sequel to Wolf Tales, independently.
Kate and her husband of over forty-five years have two adult children and six grandchildren. They live in the small town of Healdsburg, California, in the heart of the beautiful Sonoma County wine country.
The wolf shifter world has an original, complex and dynamic culture that sets it apart from other shifter worlds and Kate Douglas brings it to brilliant life with well-written words and multifaceted, sexy characters that draw readers in and keep them coming back for more. The stories are super-hot and make wet dreams seem like child’s play in comparison, unless of course your wet dreams include the Chanku characters.
All the previous characters compose multiple scenes of the book which keeps readers hopping and enjoying some sizzling sex scenes. The book is full of emotional turbulence that runs a gauntlet of feelings as the characters overcome adversity and experience joy. Anton, being the pack alpha, really pulls readers into the story with his mysterious and strong personality, of course all of these characters have strong personalities, which provides lots of stimulus for readers.
The book starts off with one red hot scene and then immediately takes readers on a thrilling ride as suspense as a dangerous enemy sets the Chanku on a perilous journey that pulls them in different directions and has them dealing with some very difficult decisions and even the goddess, Eve has to lend a little assistance which keeps readers on the edge of their seat.
The stories is the Wolf Tales series really need to be read in order if you want fully enjoy the experience, but at the same time as long as you have a good understanding of the Chanku world you can enjoy Anton’s book if you’ve missed the previous one. As for me, reading this book was one steamy experience that had me glued to the pages and I really can’t wait for the re-release of number 12.
Wolf 11 is an absolutely stunning story that took my heart by storm. It was completely unexpected and wonderfully insightful in its dangerous intrigue and delectable passion. There is nothing quite as exquisite as a book that can shatter my heart and yet breathe life and hope into my dull and fading soul at the same time. Nothing is more powerful than undying hope and nothing is more contagious as unfailing love when your world is coming apart at the seams.
Anton, the most powerful of the shifters that he leads, finds that with immense love sometimes comes equally immense sacrifice. He would do anything to protect those in his clam of shifters from those who would seek to hurt and destroy them. In his greatest attempt to rid them of their fiercest threat, Anton unknowingly trades added power for something far too precious to lose. Can he survive with this lo unspeakably devastating loss, or will he find peaceful solace and overpowering love from his clan?
I will never get enough of these magnificent characters that delight and teach me so much every time I have the pleasure of sharing their world and their adventures. They never cease to teach and show me the most important things in life albeit in a sometimes unconventional way. I will never forget their unwavering devotion and limitless love for each other as their fight and claw their way through their struggles to see the beauty of yet another day and a smile on the face of those they love more than their own life.
Always full of sinfully delightful surprises, Kate Douglas brings us another brilliant masterpiece in her refreshingly original shifter series. She never fails to improve on the perfection that is this wonderful series, and this addition is no exception. If you want to read literary perfection from one of the queens of paranormal stories, then you absolutely need to read this book.
3.5 Stars Wolf Tales 11 by Kate Douglas is a hot read that is primary focused I thought on sex. There is a back story but that leads to the multiple sex that run with several different couples in this story line. This type of book are always a hot read once in awhile when you are looking for that type of story. Overall enjoyed the book.
Loved it. Revisiting couples and families, learning quite a bit more about the Chanku, and all the hot sex added to it. Wonderful yet sad because there will be only one more book in the series.
Wolf Tales 11 is the 11th book in the incredible wolf shifter series Wolf Tales by Kate Douglas. A highly entertaining, erotic, suspenseful romance that's a definite must read! With a unique storyline, complex characters you can't help but love, humor, witty banter, lots of sizzling hot sexual encounters, danger, and intriguing twists and turns, this emotional roller-coaster of a story will take you on a passionate and sensual ride that you won't want to miss. This was a fantastic story, and a great addition to this incredible series.
Tala and Lisa are kidnapped after their Alpha refuses to accept a job, and he knows that Anton (the head Alpha over all of the packs) is their only hope of getting their women back. When Anton devises a plan that will have all of the Chanku releasing their passions at the same time, pushing all of their energy towards him, he doesn't have any idea the true amount of strength their passions will create.
Will Anton's plan to rescue Tala and Lisa, save the president, as well as catch all of those responsible for the kidnapping and attempted murder actually work? With both women far along in their pregnancies, will they be able to handle everything that's going on, without being harmful to their unborn children? Will Anton be able to handle the full amount of energy that his pack members create, or will he be sacrificing himself in order to save the women? Can their goddess provide any help, or will his miracle come in the form of a tiny angel? You'll have to read this to find out, but you won't be disappointed!
I haven't had the opportunity to read all of the books in the series yet, but the one's that I have read have me hooked on this series. Although I would recommend that you read the series in order to get the most out of the stories, they can also be read as stand alone books. I had no problems keeping up with the multitude of characters or the storyline, and the author gives just enough details about the secondary characters to know how they fit into this story, but not enough to give away spoilers of their own, which I really appreciate. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
I strongly recommend this book, series, and fantastic author.
I have voluntarily reviewed this complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
What an usual tale of a tribe of were shifters and one spiritual panther shifter. Their power comes from the love of one another emotionally and physically. When faced with a kidnapping of two of their women who are pregnant they go to Anton the Alpha leader for guidance. The kidnappers want the men to do an assassination or the women die. Anton comes up with a plan that requires an unusual request of erotic proportions. The energy expended by the tribe would be transfer to Anton in order to foil the kidnapping and the assassination. This solution had its sacrifice. Anton lost his telepathy to each member of the tribe. In time it was his young two year old daughter who gave him his gift back. What an exciting read. I voluntarily received an Advanced Readers copy of this book for review.
I voluntarily read and advanced reviewers copy of this book
Anton is tasked with saving a couple of members of his pack that get taken while on a trip. The ransom...is hurt someone very important. Instead of giving in to the demands of the kidnappers Anton asks for the help of every shifter in his pack to save the day.
Will Anton's plan work? Read and find!
Overall this book was very interesting..it had a lot of heat and a very fun way to save the day. Kate Douglas did a great job packing this book with a lot of heat, happy endings and a lot of happily every after moments. Can't wait to see what happens in book 12 ;-)
Just a word to the average reader, be prepared to step into a different shifter world. And, this series is so hot it should make an e-reader melt! I don't even know what abbreviations to use for the relationships in this series.
The Chanku are a lost race of shapeshifters. Slowly, the core group of Chanku is discovering other Chanku and helping them make the change to being a shapeshifter. While the book will center around a character, the rest of the pack are important in the story development.
Wolf Tales is a series about wolf shifters calledChanku. The Books are extremely hot and what I would call Paranormal Erotic as they contain lots of sex so are only suitable for over 18s and those who aren't easily shocked. So if you are OK with that then these books are well worth reading as they are also great stories, with the characters well portrayed. Needless to say, I have the whole series in paperback on my keeper shelves, which will tell you how much I enjoyed this series.
This is an awesome addition to the Chanku series. Great action and emotionally involving storylines. The situations were very tense and exciting. The humor and dialogue kept your attention and had you rooting for these shifters. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a sexy shifter story!
I liked this addition to the series the story is fast-paced with loads of suspense and drama. The sex is off the charts hot. The story definitely held my interest throughout and I am looking forward to reading more in the series.
This is a very sexually fluid book and if you're reading it for the sex then your good. But there is just way to much going with the characters and the plot, the backstories.
This felt like a long epilogue to the prior books. Lots of sex with people who are already couples. Did not hold my interest.
STORY BRIEF: Wolf Tales is a series of books about Chanku who are wolf shape shifters. There are packs of them in San Francisco, Montana, and Maine. Two pregnant Chanku women get kidnapped (Tala and Lisa). They are part of the San Francisco pack. The leader of that pack is Luc. The kidnappers believe Luc has trained wolves. They want Luc to bring his wolves to a political event and have the wolves kill the U.S. President at 8:55 pm. Anton is Chanku, a wizard, and leader of the Montana pack. His plan is for all pack members across the U.S. to have sex at the same time, and to climax exactly at 8:55 pm. The Chanku have mental telepathy with each other, but Anton has the most ability. He will receive sexual energy from the others simultaneously, which he will use to turn off electricity in the hotel where the President appears. The wolves have a plan to get the President out of harm’s way and to rescue the kidnapped wives. A goddess also has a part in the story.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: There are at least eight different couples (or threesomes) who are mates. I believe their stories of finding each other and becoming mates were told in the previous books. In this book too much time is spent recalling past events (from previous books?) and worrying about the safety of Tala and Lisa. I’m reading one character who is thinking about these things. Then I’m reading another character who is doing the same thing. Some characters replay events of the day and hope things will work out. There was too much pondering repetition. Unfortunately, I wanted the book to be over.
At least two couples “decide” to get pregnant with the 8:55 climax. Another couple “decides” to get officially married. Other women deliver their babies and name them. This felt like an epilogue for previous books – to add something for couples who already found their mates. It was like a reunion/good bye to the series.
The story about the kidnapping and assassination plot felt like a minor part of the book. It wasn’t developed enough. There are other ways to turn off electricity in the hotel, but I’ll give the author credit for creativity on this one.
I suppose one should read this for the sex. There’s a lot of sex which includes men with men, group sex, rear door activity, sex toys, and some bondage. It’s all very erotic and explicit. But it wasn’t emotionally engaging because this is not a story about finding and becoming mates – with anticipation and things that involves. It’s sex with people who already enjoy sex with each other. I really liked the first book in the series which was Xandi meeting Stefan. It had a wonderful first sex scene – she doesn’t know him, she is getting to know him – there was mystery, surprise, anticipation (if I’m remembering right). This book 11 was full of epilogue sex – which is ok - just don’t expect the other.
DATA: Story length: 299 pages. Swearing language: strong. Sexual language: strong/explicit. Number of sex scenes: 13. Estimated number of sex scene pages: 40. Setting: current day San Francisco, Montana, Maine, Washington D.C. Copyright: 2011. Genre: erotic paranormal romance.
Life is good for the Chanku. The wolf shifter pack is waiting for two of their own to give birth next month. Lisa and her mate Tinker are expecting a little girl while Tala and her mates Mik and A.J. are having one of each.
Unfortunately an innocent trip to a shopping mall becomes a nightmare when the pregnant women are kidnapped and Tia is shot and left for dead. The Chanku business, Pack Dynamics, is contacted and given an ultimatum to carry out a heinous crime or their women will be eliminated.
The Chanku mentally link from one end of the country to the other. They look to their Alpha, their leader Anton Cheval to come up with a plan to save the pregnant women and locate Tia. It is a daring plan, if everything aligns all will be well, if not it could mean the end of the Chanku pack forever.
Welcome to the world of the Chanku in Wolf Tales 11 where sexual energy and the perfect orgasm exists for the shifter pack. They are put to the test once again as danger intrudes on their joy in the coming events. Fans of the series will enjoy reuniting with characters from all the previous stories while new reader may be overwhelmed with all the lovemaking and the abundance of characters. Wolf Tales 11 has an exciting storyline and continuous sexual encounters throughout this steamy drama. Make sure you have plenty of ice on hand to cool off….
I was disappointed. This seemed like more of the same old plots and themes. Douglas needs to either get new characters and ideas or abandon the series.
The literary climax was anti-climactic. Luckily, there were descriptions of many of physical kind to compensate.
I'm hooked on the series, so for me, catching up with my favorite characters moved this up into the three-star range. I would not recommend this as an entry point to the series.
More than the other Wolf Tales stories, this one bordered on the pornographic edge of the erotic romance genre. Not for the faint of heart.
I voluntarily read this advanced readers copy of this book. Strong characters and a great story line. I just couldn't put it down once I started reading it and neither will you. I so can't wait to read more work from Kate too.

Tala and Lisa are missing, but who took them and why? Can all of the pack come together to help find them, and at what cost to there alpha Anton. Wonderful story about courage and finding and keeping your smile
