Elle Carrera is a fading pop star who, in pursuit of her career, has shut herself off from all that really matters in life. On the way to meet her manager to discuss an upcoming tour, she is shocked to find herself in sixteenth century Scotland. How she got there is a mystery, but once at Breaghacraig she learns about the matchmaking witch, Edna Campbell and what her possible plans for Elle may include. Despite Edna’s meddling, there’s no time in Elle’s life for love, but during this time away from the many distractions of the twenty-first century, she begins to see what’s been missing in her life. Nevertheless, the future and the strong pull of her career beckons to her with the possibility everything that looked so attractive in the sixteenth century, will become a distant memory as she strives to regain her place at the top of the charts. All he wanted to do was time travel, but instead Hamish MacBeown finds himself responsible for the well-being of a time traveler. It appears the witch misunderstood his request, because the last thing he wants or needs is the responsibility of protecting an unusual lass from the future. Despite his protests, Hamish finds himself fighting a losing battle as his attraction for Elle grows. He can’t be sure of her feelings for him as it seems the only thing Elle wants is to return to the future and her life before they met. This could be the opportunity he’s been waiting for, but as he seeks adventure he risks a broken heart, that is unless Elle has been awakened by time.
As I've read all the books in this series time and again we've seen Hamish wishing it was his turn to time travel. He wasn't asking to find true love he just wanted an adventure. He finally gets his chance in this book but not the way he imagined. Thinking he was going to go to San Franscisco instead a woman steps out of the fog and he's told that she is his. Elle is a famous singer who wasn't planning to travel through time so she was shocked, amazed and angry that this had happened. All she wanted was to get back to the present. Hamish is a gentle giant who doesn't have any family to speak of - he has his clan and his friends but he wants more from life. He quickly falls in love with Elle but she will be leaving so he tries to hide his feelings. Jennae Vale does a great job in this book of showing that Highland hunks have feelings too and Hamish is a wonderful man. With Elle, she shows that fame isn't always what it's cracked up to be and just because you are famous doesn't mean you have any say in your life. When Hamish and Elle finally return to present day San Francisco it is fun to see the present through Hamish's eyes as he discovers everything from sandwiches to underwear. He joins Elle at her family's ranch and is able to fit right in but will Elle be content to stay or does she still seek the fame that will separate her from family and Hamish? This couple had to work hard to get to their Happily Ever After but it was worth it in the end.
I love this series but it seems as though I've been away from it for a long time. This one is about Elle who has come through the fog while walking in San Francisco texting on her phone. She had no clue what happened. Hamish was at the bridge, which was a fortunate happenstance, or was it? It took Elle a while to realise what was important in her life. She made the right decision in the end.
I love how the author, Jennae, builds her characters so they become real people as the story progresses. If you like the idea of a braw Scottish Highlander sweeping you away to a romantically wild place and you maybe even believe in magic then the Thistle & Hive Series is for you! Prepare to indulge your wildest fantasy!
I love the entire Awakened by Time series by Jennae Vale...her writing style flows so nicely and the story lines are always interesting. I especially like seeing the characters from previous books pop up so you know how they're faring. I can't wait to see who Edna matches up next!
The eighth book in “The Thistle and Hive” series, Ms. Vale sets up a charming scenario of a modern-day witch who enjoys matchmaking — with a time-travel twist.
I love books of time travel. My only complaint is this far into the series, it's too easy. Just get on the bridge and there you go . The heroine didn't even notice she traveled. Life in the 1500's also seems too easy and idyllic.
What will a rock singer that keeps her head in her cell phone do in 16th century Scotland??? Fall for a highlander of course. Join Elle and Hamish in a roller coaster ride through the highlands! Don't miss!
Wow, such a well constructed and very well written storyline. Once again our author has given us the words that compel us to want to read more of her stories. Don't miss the opportunity to get your hands on this experience. Read it, it's great.
Awakened by Time book 8 of the Thistle and Hive series

This was given to me by the author and I am choosing to write a review.
Loved this book. You don't get tired of reading of the ever expanding family and their time travel choices. Would like to hear more about Maggie trying her hand at matchmaking.
